1. The weight: It's been a while since I've worn a pair of Doc Martens. They are heavier than the average leather shoe. This one's a boot, so it is even heavier than the shoes I am used to wearing. 2. The size: It is true that the shoe size runs a little big. I usually wear size 6-1/2 shoes, but ordering a UK 4 (U.S. Women's 6) worked. It fits well when I wear medium to heavy/thick socks. It feels loose around the ankle when I wear thin socks. 3. The look: When I opened the box, I noticed that the leather was a bit shiny and it looked like vinyl (not leather). It looked cheap, like a knock-off as other reviewers have mentioned. For what I paid for it, I expected something that did not look cheap. On the other hand, it is a very unique-looking boot, and it is versatile. I wore a short casual skirt and black tights and my significant other said I looked cute in them. It looks great, even when I pull my bootcut jeans over them. 4. The comfort: They were stiff at first, but got less stiff as I wore them more. In the beginning, I wore trouser socks (up to the mid-calf), but I felt the inside of the shoe rubbing against/irritating the part of my calf that wasn't covered by the socks. Now I wear thick, good quality, long socks and that makes a great difference. Overall, these boots are keeping me warm, dry and comfortable in the cold, wet weather we're having here in the S.F. Bay Area. I kept them because they are fun to wear. I am still conscious about the bounce with every step!

Great Quality - The boots overall are great! The only complaint I have is the width of the boot at the top. I would have liked a better fit around the calf. If you wear some cute knee highs and scrunch them down a little or some cute leg warmers, it helps with the wide top and looks really cute! Another great thing about these boots is, skinny jeans fit great in them or just reg. jeans over them work, too! Make sure you get them a half size smaller than you normally wear because they run a little big!

Killer Boots - As usual, these Docs run big. I typically wear US 8.5 and I ordered UK 6. They fit fine with thick socks or I'm sure an insole would work as well. More importantly, these boots are beyond rock and roll. I look forward to many years of hard style and personal statement with this pair of beauties.

I used to wear Docs years ago and remember them as being one of the most comfortable boots. However, this one fails to deliver. The cuff of the boot is very stiff. And considering that it is fitted for wide ankles/calves, I don't have an opportunity to break it in. It brushes up against my shins/calves that requires long socks. For the price and brand, I expected much more. The boot, however, looked great.

Super cute but not for lean legs/ankles! I was so excited about these Docs (in Wine) since I've been a Doc fan forever, but then when they finally came, they didn't fit right. The fit my feet decently (I'm in between a 7-7.5 so cant' really say if this fit is 'right') and around my calves (I'm average build), but the ankles are too loose! My heel kept lifting with each step. I could probably 'make' them work, with doubling socks and heel grippers/insoles, but I can only imagine heartache of having the insoles fly out (or worse, bunch up) while I'm trying to get in/out of the boots. Dr. Marten, you tried, but the ankle buckles should be functional, not just stylish!

I wanted to love these docs - I used to own several pairs of Docs. I wore docs and only Docs for years. I have been hunting for boots in this style, and was really hoping that these boots would be the perfect balance of form/function. I wanted punk-sexy with a good sturdy sole that could stand up to some rain and snow. Sadly, I do think the quality has gone down in the 10 years since I bought my last pair. I was worried that the leather would be too shiny and I was right. The leather is very stiff and scratchy. It looks and feels cheap. I've been spoiled by wearing Danskos and Keens, and I just ordered some Lassen boots that are buttery soft (and cheaper), so by comparison the quality and comfort were very disappointing. If I picked them up in a store I doubt I would even have tried them on, despite how sexy and cool they look. I do love how thick the soles are. I have never seen this type of sole with a girly heel on any Docs before. If you are under 30 and are into a punk/goth look then these boots might just rock your world, if you are tough enough to break them in. They ooze punk attitude. I just wish they were better made.

These are great boots and I really wish they fit me better, but the calves were too wide for me. I think the overall look would’ve been better if I were a little taller (I’m 5'1).

Cute boot not for comfort - Dr. Martens are not known for comfort. I have had 2 pairs of their boots now and sent both back. They are stiff and very uncomfortable.

Disappointed - I was very torn about these boots, but I ended up returning them. I love how these boots look, but they didn’t feel like the Dr. Martens quality I am so accustomed to. They are not steel-toe like one of the other reviewers mentioned. The sole and wedge heel look great and seemed to be up to Dr. Marten standard. Part of the boot felt very snug and I can see them becoming more comfortable after breaking them in. The zipper had a really cute cross design and zipped well. The only part that made me return them was the upper calf (shaft) section of the boot. It was felt like cheap pleather and was very big and loose around my calves so they felt more like rain boots. When I walked, the top edge around the boot rubbed against my legs and actually gave me a scrape. I am not sure if it was the leather or the stitching around the top, but I couldn’t find whatever it was that was cutting into my legs. I know there are adjustable buckles, but when I tightened them, the extra material had nowhere to go but to fold over onto itself, which looked horrible and felt worse against my skin. If you wore your pants tucked into the boot or with knee high socks, I don’t see any problems with irritation. They do tend to jingle when you walk due to the buckles, which I didn’t care for. Overall, they are still really cute and I love the heel and sole, I was just not happy with the top part of the boot.

Looks nice, but doesn't fit so well - I started with a UK 5 and my heel was lifting, so I went down to a UK 4, but my heel still lifts up when I walk. So although this is a great looking boot, I had to send it back.

I grew to love these shoes until the cheap zipper broke! I did have to wear long socks with them because they rubbed on my calves. Sorry but these shoes are not worth the price.
