I picked this shoe because I was looking for something rugged and supportive to wear to work when its too warm for boots. I read lots of other reviews and decided to head the common advice of "go at least a half size larger", I'm glad I did because these do run a little small. Overall I am pleased with these shoes, they feel sturdy without being too stiff, and the rubber toe cap is rigid enough to provide some protection against bumps. There was a minimal amount of break in time, but they're pretty comfortable out of the box. I only have 2 complaints, neither of which trumps the positive aspects. The color is lighter than that in the photos. The pictures make it appear as if its nearly all black, with maybe the different materials having a different tone, in reality this shoe is mostly gray; not a huge deal, but I prefer an all black shoe. The other problem is with ventilation, I suppose its due to the rubber covering the sides. I assume that this is supposed to protect the shoe from abrasion, and while it does this, the holes in it are far from adequate to ventilate the shoe; my feet have felt a bit sweatier than usual in these.

These are great shoes to wear with khakis or jeans. They are very comfortable. I ordered them on a Monday at 4 PM and had them the next day for free - very good service.

I ordered these shoes 3 weeks ago to replace a worn out pair of Timberland I used for work. I already own a pair of Moab that I use for hiking and light backpacking which are awesome. Needless to say, I love these shoes. They look good with jeans or with shorts for the hot days. I was worried that the M on the side was too much but you barely see it with jeans on. The ventilation is great and at the end of the day my socks don't feel icky.

I purchased a half size larger since other reviewers said the shoe was too tight. I\'m happy that I did since the shoe fit like a glove. I almost sent them back to get a full size larger but I thought it was better to break them. After a month of walking I find these shoes are very high quality and worth the money. If I did order them again I would go a full size bigger just so I had a little more room.\r\n\r\n

The tongue feels small (a bit too short), and I wish the loops for the laces were not so distinctly colored. Otherwise, the shoes fit well, and were comfortable for the day hikes that I’ve done.

This has been the only pair of Merrells that my feet have not fallen in love with. I tried them on and they felt okay. I figured with a little use they would conform to my feet. They never really melted with my feet. They feel a little narrow and I feel like my foot slides forward into the toe. May be my fault. My first pair were the Moab wide toe. I still have these, I still wear these but they feel uncomfortable if worn for an extended period of time

I am happy with the Merrell Intercept. Sturdy, supprtive substantial shoe for general off sidewalk hiking. More than you need for a street shoe. Order one size larger than you shoe size. It took me two returns before I got it right. Goin up a half size did not work.\r\nGreat service from Zappos on the the returns and sending me a new size.

The shoes are Merrells and they don't quite live up to what I am used to for my Merrells. I usually get 1 pair every year, but recently I waited 2 years and now only have this 1 pair going. They are good, just not great. 4 stars across the board, but I expect more from them. I always get Merrells when forced to buy online because I know they will fit me correctly. Size 14 can be a problem when shopping in local stores.

Merrell's are good to go... size? Great shoe... however, I have found with Merrells that they are not consistent with their sizing. For example, the Merrell Chameleon I wear are 13. The Merrell Intercepts I just ordered are a 14. What is up with that? It was a little frustrating ordering the size I normally wear (13) and then to have to turn around, send it back, and then order a bigger size (14). Once I got the 14s, they fit like 13s. Not a show stopper… just something to keep in mind.

Comfortable - These are really comfortable and I've had many compliments on them but they are too narrow. I wish I had noticed before wearing them but I figured they would stretch a little. And the the laces where you tie them is right on the bump on the top of the foot which I find annoying.Get a half size larger and wider.

Great look and comfort. May want to order a half size larger. The rubber toe cap limits the give in this area.

Comfortable, durable, awesome. This is an awesome shoe for someone who is looking for comfort, style, and durability. I can wear these shoes to class, to work, or on the trails. The shoes are incredibly comfortable and breathable. Mud and slush don't get stuck in the treads, which is nice. The only thing that could be better would be waterproofing. Merrel also sells a Gore-Tex version of this shoe, but it is more expensive and can be harder to find. Overall, this is a great shoe.

Very supportive - Previous comments say they feel tight at first, so I purchased a 1/2 size bigger as recommended. Like a memory foam cushion, after a few days they fit just right adjusting to my foot shape and arch.

Great all around shoe - I walk over different types of terrain everyday. Gravel, loose sand, concrete. They really hug your feet to prevent your foot from slipping around inside the shoe. Not much ventilation for a low top. Pretty close to size, but next time I will get a 1/2 size bigger for a little extra comfort.

Great shoe - I live in the Pacific Northwest in Bellingham, WA. It rains frequently here and the show is waterproof enough. I would not take this shoe on long hikes in the mountains because it is not totally waterproof. The comfort of the shoe is amazing. It formed to my foot quickly the only thing is I wish I would have gone a half size bigger.

Not bad for ER floor - Got mine to wear while working as a paramedic in a busy emergency room. Comfortable and goes well with the mandatory burgundy scrubs. Only negative, it could use a bit more pronation control - a better arch to keep from turning inwards.

The shoe fits great, looks great, feels great, and I am very happy. It is a little heavier than I thought it would be, but most likely that is because I usually order running shoes. I wear these everyday and my feet feel great! They look good with shorts, jeans, and casual pants. Very good traction on rough terrain.

Great all purpose shoe! This shoe looks really great and you can use it in anyway you can imagine. Merrells are very durable and stylish, from day packing to city walking this shoe will fit these activities.

Decent Merrell light-duty shoe - Not quite what I expected. Although the Merrell quality was there, they don't seem to fit and feel the same as my previous Merrell purchases. They are a lower-cut athletic style and not the same support as the beefier Merrell walker/hiker. Still a nice shoe.

These just don’t feel as comfortable on my feet like all the other pairs of Merrells I own. This is uncommon amongst this Brand as I truly L??ve my others.

Shoes fit well in the front, but the back of them are way too wide and slip off your heel with every step. Im guessing its due to a combination of the heel area being wide, and the sole being pretty rigid and stiff. I was really bummed to have to send back because I liked the style, however they were annoyingly loose in the heel.

I had read other reviews giving hints that this shoe might come a little smaller than I had hoped; however, I ordered my regular size based on Zappos sizing tool...and it was too small. My biggest concern was that my little toes were getting squeezed and I wasn't at all sure that going up a half size would cure the issue. I like the Intercept's funky styling, but ultimately decided to go with the Merrell Moab instead.
