I live in the Pacific Northwest, so I wanted a shoe rugged enough to use for hiking and attractive and comfortable enough to wear out on the long walks between micro breweries. So far the Merrell fits the bill. The shoe has great foot support, a very comfortable foot bed, and enough traction to take on the sometimes slippery hiking trails and streets. I can imagine these would be great for snow and ice as well...We'll see. On the town, the Merrell is fine for pairing with a pair of jeans and an ironic t-shirt (if I'm feeling ultra cool). My only complaint is the somewhat crowded toe box. I think the shoe may run about a half size small. Wearing a 12, I did not have the option to go up half a size but I might recommend this if you have the option. Overall, this is a great shoe and I will likely replace them with an identical pair when the time comes.

I've tried for years to find a pair of these that fit. Well constructed, sturdy, good materials, good color, a lot of positives are built into the ' Intercept'...However, it needs a wide width option. Buying a half size up to avoid tightness in the toe area just makes the fit looser and mushier. The problem (for me) is that the Intercept ends up being the regrettable combination of uncomfortably tight in the forefoot and uncomfortably loose in the heel. For a heavier, less flexible shoe like this, a snug fit fore and aft is essential.

So far first pair of shoes in a long time that felt great right out of the box. I noticed all shoe manufacturers their sizes getting smaller and tighter accept Ecco they run big on me, ASICS and KEEN all have gotten small. I did order a half size larger I am normally a 9.5 to 10 and right to a 10.5 and fit perfect, I also have a wide foot & high arches and these feel good so far. Anyway right out of the box and first 4 hours in them things are looking good! True to size if you order a 1/2 size larger IMO.

Hi, I love this shoe, and I love the way that Zappos Customer Service goes above and beyond. I first purchased a size 11.5 in this shoe. (I wear an 11.5 in Under Armor and Northface.) I knew the 11.5 felt tight at first... but, I thought they would loosen up a little. They didn't... and the shoe felt short with my big toes rubbing the front. I was able to exchange the 11.5 for 12. The 12 shoes fit great and feel very comfortable. If anyone is on the fence about which size to order, I would definitely recommend going a half size bigger.

These are the most comfortable Merrells that I have ever had! I bought them because I liked the style. I wear them for work and play. Merrell shoes have always worn well and last a long time.

Love these shoes! When I first put them on I thought they might have too much support. But after a few hours of wearing them I quickly realized they have support in all the right places. Very comfortable and they look great!

I have many merrell shoes that are wide enough for my feet. These merrells are too narrow. Sorry! They look very nice.

I’ve worn several pair and versions of the Moab Ventilator for years. These aren’t as comfortable. My heel lifted with every step making them feel like flip flops. I returned them and bought the Moab again.

It is my 3rd pair of this model and has been great!!

This was only my second pair of merrell had the first pair for years gambled and ordered same size as first pair and they fit perfect feel great but I do not have a fat foot usually wear a M or D width and no issues with being overly tight so if they hold up as well as the others cant beat it for being on sale.

Very happy so far. It has just been a couple of weeks, but I think these are going to work out very well. They were quite stiff to start, but that was expected. Very firm and supportive. I do not run; I hike. However, they seem like a rugged trail running shoe.

Definitely get it 1/2 size larger.

Very satisfied with my purchase of the Merrell Intercept. I have a thick, wide foot and the Intercept fits perfectly. It's a sturdy yet casual shoe for someone that walks a lot.

Just ordered my second pair of these shoes. The first were worn for a bit over three seasons and because of the way my feet are wore out at the heels, but otherwise they were wore evenly. If my were shaped normally and were able to walk evenly I probably would be wearing these shoes for a fourth season. I wore these shoes nearly everyday at work where I stand and move around alot. I hope these second pair perform as well as the first.

These are the most comfortable hiking shoes I have ever owned - so comfortable, I ordered a second pair for when my first pair wears out! I have owned a number of Merrell shoes, but these are the best. They also look great. I love the big "M" on the side. Really looks cool and makes the shoes stand out in the crowd. They were not waterproof but I sprayed them with a silicone based waterproofing agent and now they are the perfect shoe.

A little snug but I prefer a snug fit w/o having to draw the laces too tight. IMO Merrell makes the BEST Footwear! ??

Hard to find 15's , these are awesome! Love the style and comfort. Perfect for daily wear.

I would say these shoes run 1/4 size small, not really 1/2 size like some are saying. But this was ok as it worked out in my favor.

I normally wear a size 9. I needed a 9 1/2 to give me enough toe room. The 9 1/2 fits great! There's no heel slipping and, since I have flat feet, the arch support is wonderful. Very comfortable right out of the box. NOTE: I had purchased a different pair of Merrell's (Alverstone) & needed a 9 1/2 as well but the fit wasn't as good as with the Intercept.
