Love this hiking boot. I've work it multiple times over the past few years and it never fails me. It has comfort and support all wrapped up into one. I ordered a full size larger and it fit with my orthotics. In general, you will have to order a half size larger than your normal size.

Merrell suggests this boot for narrow feet, and it's a pretty good fit for me. I developed a sore spot under one of the lace grommets on my first hike, but I haven't had any trouble since. (I padded it for a while). This boot is lighter in weight than my leather hiking boots and it takes a lot of abuse when I'm working in my garden.

Great shoe. I ordered a half size bigger to accommodate socks. The ankle support is great. The arch is very comfortable. Love Merrells! And they are not bad looking either!

Zappos had my boots at my door in record speed. The Merrell hikers are made extremely well and I have worn them a bunch since I got them. Very comfortable and cute too. I would buy them again.

Love my other Merrell "winter" hiking boots, so I bought these for a summer fishing trip to AK. Were waterproof as promised and comfortable. Only wore them once before the trip and I was concerned about not breaking them in before hand. But they were great all week and I had no blisters or hot spots after wearing them all day.

These boots have surprised me in their exceptional performance. I no longer backpack, so I can\'t judge their performance in that regard, but for an all-day aggressive 12-mile hike with a loaded day-pack and rugged terrain, they excel. Great ankle support, comfort, ease of movement. No toe-jamming on steep descents and tough enough for the steep climbs and white-water-creek crossings. I haven\'t had to wade in water higher than the laces of the boots, so I don\'t know how they perform in deep water--usually I find enough rocks to get across the water, avoiding submerging the boots. I am very happy with this boot.

I had an older pair of Chameleons a few years ago and needed new ones, but couldn't find them in any local stores. So happy to find them on zappos! Great boot for day hiking with light pack. Lightweight and comfortable but with good sturdy soles so you don't feel the rocks.

I have never owned Merrells before, but I know people who are loyal to the company so I figured I would give them a try. I got these new hiking boots in the mail yesterday thanks to Zappos ridiculously fast shipping!! I was a little nervous about the sizing because of some of the reviews I have read, and seeing as my feet are unusually big for a girl (regularly a 10.5, but 11 in some shoes), I ordered the largest size they offered which was an 11. Long story short, these are the most comfortable shoes (not just hiking boots) I have ever put on. From the first moment my foot slid effortlessly into the boot, until I went to bed last night reluctant to take them off, I am in love! I would definitely recommend these boots for comfort and style, and I would absolutely recommend Zappos.com for their convenient, free, and extremely fast shipping (I have ordered from them before and had to return something, and the return shipping was fast and free also). I'm a happy girl!!

These are my 3rd pair of Merrell hikers, and I’m very happy with them. Lightweight, good traction, and nice style. The arch support does not seem quite as good as my older Merrells, but that’s not a big concern for me -- I am mostly a day hiker covering 10 miles or less in an outing. On the plus side, they have great stability and ankle support. They fit very true to size, so if you want to wear heavy socks, you might want to go up a half size.

I have owned these boots for almost 10 years. The ones I have are an older model, and appear to be only slightly different. I wear these as my snow boots as well as to work on my horse farm. I am not kidding that despite the heavy work, mud, rain, and snow that I have exposed these boots to over the years, they still look new! They are truly waterproof up until the top and are very comfortable. I have osteo-arthritis in my knees and my knees thank me for these boots every year when winter rolls around. It is worth noting that they are too warm to wear as work boots in the summer.

I bought these boots to do a little light hiking on the beaches of the Oregon Coast. Used them one day to climb on wet rocks while looking at tidepools. They were great; didn't slip and didn't get my feet wet. Plan to use them for many of my outings now, including Mushroom Foraging in damp California Redwood country. They are also great around my property while cleaning up slippery slopes! So comfortable and practical.

I have used these shoes for hiking the Swiss Alps for the past three months. They have kept my feet well-protected and completely dry. They fit true to size (9.5). I have also been wearing proper hiking socks with them. There was a very short break-in period and I never experienced any discomfort or rubbing. The ankle support has saved my ankles countless times. And as far as hiking boots go, they don't look too bad. No complaints!

What wonderful boots! I bought them because my ankles were staring to hurt, walking on uneven ground. The amount of support these boots give is incredible. They are extremely comfortable right out of the box, though I highly suggest wearing proper socks with them, like wool hiking socks or even thick cotton socks. I wear these boots whenever I have to be on my feet for a while. Though I should add that I put my own orthodics in due to my extremely high arch, so I can\'t rate the sole that comes with the shoe.

My first pair is a hit!
This is the first pair of hiking boots I've ever purchased. I loved them in the blue/brown but ended up with the green/brown b/c they weren't in stock in my size. We are starting to break them in and they're quite comfortable and fit my orthotics. The looks is great with jeans or shorts. I wear a 9.5 normally in a shoe. For sneakers I wear a 10.5 to accommodate orthotics and noticed that most hiking boots require an extra size normally. In this boot I got a size 11 (shocking to me!) but they fit my orthotics absolutely perfectly. We hiked 4.5 miles on moderate terrain and I felt supported. I kept their "orthotic" which was wimpy but it kept my foot from sliding around in the boot on orthotic. The joy of Zappos is that I ordered these and another boot in multiple sizes and then returned the ones that didn't work. Zappos worked out very well especially b/c the stores do not have a wide variety for women's hiking boots. Free shipping and returns helped!!

Great boots, originally bought them as winter snow boots (live in Chicago). Lasted long, great comfort and support. Really great hiking boots also, even in the summer months.

The hiking boot fits my somewhat-narrow-heel and higher-arched foot very well. I order half a size up from my dress shoe size to handle heavier hiking socks. The sole of the boot seems to add spring to my step, and the overall support offered by the boot is very good for my feet. They didn't seem to need much of a break-in period. I haven't had the opportunity to test out their water-proof characteristics.

Wonderful Hiking Boot -
I have a standard size 6 medium width foot but I always go up a half size in Merrell's performance footwear. They also have very good arch support. Great traction & they kept my feet warm but also my feet did not get too hot when warmer. I would really like to have these in BLACK. They do offer that color but only in the UK & Germany at least so far. These are a must have. Zappos is the best!!!!

I bought these for my daughter and she loves them. I'm lucky we are the same size so I can wear them as well. They are very warm and comfortable, fur all the way around the foot. They are also very light weight since they have the crochet sides. My daughter wears about a 7 1/2 and I wear a 7. I bought a 7 and it fits us both just fine.

I didn't find these to be tight at all (and I have wide, flat feet and wear orthotics). Really comfortable. Great ankle support, which is why I bought them.

I have many pairs of shoes and had a pair of the same kind that I recently bought, but in a smaller size. The shoes are great BUT they are definitely smaller and I could have even gotten a FULL size bigger than I wear and it probably would have fit fine.

These shoes are truly waterproof. For me, they run true to size. I love the Merrell brand, but the soles of my shoes are already beginning to show wear. I use these shoes during early morning walks and rainy weather when walking the dog (approx. 15 miles per week) on concrete sidewalks and trails. Zappos shipped my shoes the next day! I don't buy my shoes from any other vendor. Thanks Zappos.

These boots aren’t too hot (I live in south Florida) and they keep my feet dry, even in heavy rains in our Hurricane Season. On certain wet areas, the soles were a little slippery at first, but after two days, the grip improved to be perfect.

Nice enough for what they are. Major complaint is the stiffness that doesn't seem to go away with wear.

I have yet to do very much walking in these boots, but so far they seem well-made and sturdy, with an adequately resilient foot bed. As other reviewers have stated, these boots run very small. The measurements of my larger foot, in my usual hiking sox, indicate that an 8.5 medium should be the right size. In these boots, that size left only about half a thumb’s width of space between the end of my great toe and the end of the boot. The arch in the foot bed fell behind the arch in my foot. The medium width in an 8.5 was so narrow that it scrunched my little toes under. The size 9 was not quite as bad. The length gave me a full thumb’s width of leeway at the end of the toes, but the foot bed arch was still a bit back from my arch and the width was still uncomfortably tight. Thank you Zappos for fast shipping, free both ways! I was able to get a pair in size 9.5 before the deadline when I needed good, sturdy walking boots. That size gives me a little more length than I need, but not so much that I trip over the toes. It places the foot bed arch directly under my arch and is just barely wide enough across my toes so that they don’t feel pinched. I will need to saturate the areas that come in contact with my little toes with some shoe stretch solution and walk in them until the saturated area dries. That should make the width at the toes relatively comfortable. The big surprise is that this huge (for me) size fits my very narrow heels like a glove. If I did not have to modify the width with shoe stretch, I could give them a 4-star rating for comfort; if, in addition, the foot beds were a bit more resilient, they would earn a 5-star rating in that category.
