I have fond memories of these from the 1990s when I had a burgundy pair, so when I decided black patent was on the cards, I jumped for them. It seems like DM's has changed the shape of the last. I wear size UK5 and my memory says that these had a nice square-ish toe, making my foot look short and cute. Unfortunately these black patent ones made it look long and skinny. I put my foot into a black patent Dansko clog and the other foot into this mary jane and put the heels against the wall, and this shoe was a full inch longer than the Dansko! So, I sent them back and probably won't look into Doc Martens any longer.

Beautiful shoe. Looked a bit more clunky than i thought. Quality was good. Kept them. Hope they stretch just a smidge.

Still breaking these in, so they are "comfortable but stiff." Once Docs break in, however, they are super comfortable. As to sizing, I am a U.S. size 8.5 (39-40 Euro)-- I initially ordered a U.S. 8 per manufacturer and seller instructions, but they were too short. I exchanged for a U.S. 9. My heels slipped too much in the 9s (41 Euro), so I put heel pads in them, and the shoes are "just right" now.

I was very surprised at the fit. I'm usually a 6 1/2 so I typically go with a 7 because I wear thick socks. But wow these were big big. I went down to a 6 and there was still room even with my thick socks. The shoe was moving on my heel and I knew if I wore them like that all day I would end up with a blister. I have to send these back (I'm so sad ) they are super cute. I would suggest going into a store and trying them on!

I love the look of these shoes, that's why I'm keeping them. They are not comfortable. I get a lot of compliments when I wear them though.

I have never wanted a shoe to work so badly becaue I love the style but OMG they are so stiff. Way worse than my original pairs of Docs back in the day. Trying them on was painful - legit couldn't adjust the buckle. With no 1/2 sizes I just couldn't make them work.

I ordered one full size down. I’m usually a 7 and ordered a 6. Perfect fit. I have a wide foot and the front was very roomy. They are a bit stiff at first, but they definitely loosened through the day. Because of my very high arch, they’re a little tight where the straps are, but again, it loosened up as well. They look super cute. I’m loving the patent leather.

Was a little longer. I wear a ladies 10 and ordered the 10. They were about a 1/2 size too long but the top was snug so I won't both exchanging for a smaller size because I think they will be too small then. Very cute shoes though!

Gave these a try although hesitant based on some reviews. Took a few days walking in thick socks to break in. Buckles are challenging, but not as bad as others have stated. Now that they’re broken in, I wish there were half sizes. A 5.5 would be better than 6, although 6 is my standard shoe size. The buckles clank on the left shoe. Love the look of all my docs, but there isn’t one pair that doesn’t have something “wrong” with it (squeaky heel, crooked tongue, rubs heel blisters, etc.) Oh well!

ok…so i had a pair of the Dr. Martens Mary Janes in the late 80’s and i wore them constantly…until at some point in the late 90’s or early 2000’s they died…the soles were worn down to a glass like surface….i loved those shoes and decided i wanted another pair. So these are super cute with that same riot grrrl attitude i loved about my originals…. on the con side….these are hard and stiff - harder and stiffer then my originals. DO NOT expect to wear them straight out of the box….despite the heat and humidity of summer i unearthed a pair of thick heavy socks and i am wearing them around the house to break them in….it does take time, but like all Dr. Martens, in the end they will be worth it. i am a little worried about the strap buckles as they only go through the top layer of leather and not all the way through to inside of the shoe. but as i said, they are CUTE and will go with skirts, leggings and my retro big dad jeans…. overall i gave a 4 star rating with the concerns noted above in mind.

I love the classic style of these and that they go with almost any outfit. I’m a half size so I sized down and they ended up fitting well. The buckles are very stiff, but overall they feel comfortable and durable.

I highly suggest you buy a size smaller than what you would in other shoe brands. You will be glad you did. That being said- the straps are a BEAR to buckle when new. The leather is really tight and needs to stretch out and relax a bit. Just expect it.

I love these shoes. My first pair of Dr. Martens. I love the style and that they can be worn year round. Problem is I got terrible blisters and had to put some short socks on. I hope to break them in, as the leather is quite thick.

Very stiff! I'm sure it's typical Dr. Martens to have to break them in, but I've been spoiled by my Nappas that felt great right away.

I’m a librarian and bought these to wear with my dress slacks instead of Clarke’s or some other “old lady” shoe. I wasn’t alive yet to wear the original 90’s version, so unlike the other reviews I don’t have anything to compare these to, other than my other pair of Docs which are the 2676 Chelsea boot. These have the same familiar doc bouncy feeling. The leather and the buckles are incredibly stiff, and the buckles are difficult to use, no lie. I’m wearing bandaids on my heels because I read the cautionary tales. I think once these break in, I’ll be happy with them for years.

These are gorgeous and sturdy. I normally wear a 9-9.5 and I ordered a size 41. They fit a little roomy but are perfect with thick socks. My only complaint is that I wish there was more arch support. I might remove the insole and add one with more support. For the frist 2 weeks it felt like there was a bubble in sole under my toes in my right shoe, eventually this went away with wear and now they are great. The back heel was also very stiff at first and difficult to break in. You don't need to undo the buckles to get in and out, I can just slip in and they still feel nice and snug as Im walking around. Im a huge fan.

Design of the inner heel support at top cuts into skin. Great shoe...but will end up getting blisters when breaking in shoe.

I purchased these as my first pair of Dr. Martens. I was afraid I wouldn't like them based on some negative reviews about them being made in China, but got them anyways. I am super happy with them as they are very cute. They have very comfortable soles but the uppers take some breaking in as the leather is stiff. I think they run just a half size large and have ample room to wear thick socks. Overall they are nice quality and rugged. I believe they will last for years.

I had these about 10 years ago & those were made in England - you can definitely tell the difference in quality. It stinks that you can look at something & tell it's been made in China. Anyway - the shoe still rocks - it actually feels a little better for my wide feet! I usually wear a size 9 because of my wide foot, but was able to pull off an 8. So glad I don't have to do the whole breaking in thing. The back would usually dig into the back of my ankle but I've been slowly stretching it out with a shoe horn - it hasn't dug in yet & I don't want it to.

Order half a size down for the right length; you'll need to unbuckle them to get them on though, I imagine that would change with wear. Probably want arch inserts if you have high arches like me. While they looked good online they were too big and clunky when I tried them on at home. I remember Docs being heavy when I wore them in high school and these were no exception. They're definitely high quality and worth the price since they'll last forever. The cute-punk look just isn't me anymore so, alas, they're going back.

These shoes are really cute, and I purchased them to replace my old pair that I wore into the ground! I ordered a size down, as the size up was too big. They are rather stiff when they arrive, and I agree it is difficult to undo the buckle but it seems to be getting easier. They feel like they are going to take some breaking in time, so I am keeping my fingers crossed that that will work, as I wore them for the first time last night and the tops of my feet were a little sore. We'll see.

This is the third pair of Dr. Martens I've owned. They are long lasting and great to wear just about anywhere. However, this pair seems to be extra hard to break in. I can typically put a pair on and wear them without pain or blisters. Right now I can only wear them for about 30 minutes and then have to take them off until the next day. This is disappointing but I hope once I get them broken in that I'll love them.
