I owned these for close to 4 months. Initial break in period was painful due to the stiff leather, but I'm glad to have a UK made pair - figured they would loosen up. The right foot developed a fold that started digging into the top of my foot and continually worsened. Eventually called to return - absolutely NO hassle from Zappos whatsoever - full refund. 10 Stars for Zappos, none for DR M.

I'm really delighted with the quality of these Made in England boots. I've owned several pairs of Docs over the years, and these are definitely a step up - or a step back in time. The leather is soft, thick and very nicely finished. I really love the oxblood color - apparently it's the color of the first original Docs, and it's a bit more muted than some photos show, so they'll be easy to wear with lots of different clothing styles. The in-box collateral (storage bag, booklet, etc.) are really nice little adders to the experience. The box itself is far too nice to throw away. Sizing: My challenge is that I'm between sizes (and Dr. Martens doesn't offer half sizes). My left foot measures a US size 10.5 on a Brannock device (shoe store measuring machine), and my right measures just over a US size 10. For reference I wear a size 10 in Red Wings and Clarks. Per the advice I found online, I tried to size-down; I visited a Dr. Martens store and tried a UK size 9 (US size 10) and my toes touched the end of the boots. I ended up ordering a UK size 10 (US size 11) and they're very close to fitting right out of the box, although there's just a touch too much room (big jump between a 9 and a 10). I added the Dr. Martens Comfort Insole (which I use in my other Docs) and so far they're fitting quite well. One detail of note: There isn't a lot of space between the two "halves" of the upper once they're laced - this looks to be by design - so you can't count on cinching the boot tight to create a tighter overall fit. Bottom line: Sizing-down didn't work for me. The Made in England 1460 is a bit smaller than an Asian-manufactured Doc, so take that into account when making your decision. I went back and forth on this boot because of the price, and because I wasn't sure that the quality would live up to the hype (and my expectations)...I can now say that the Made in England 1460s have exceeded both. I wish I'd gotten a pair a long time ago!

I agree with some of the other reviews--these boots take some breaking in, so definitely wear thick socks. After about 5 or 6 times wearing them they are now very comfortable. Get these and not the woman's because the woman's are very narrow. I have narrow feet and wear orthotics and was unable to get the orthotics in those.

I love these boots. It took a bit to break them in - there's a video on youtube that has a great method - but now I wear them quite often in the cooler weather.

Iconic cool. I used to have a paid of these 1460s when I was in HS and wore them out. When our teenager bought a pair I felt like I needed another pair - and I was not disappointed. These boots never really go out of style, and the "Made in England" boots are a step above - the stitching and the leather looks and feels a little different/better (we tried some on in a Doc Marten store for contrast). These seem to run true to size; I normally wear a 10 and I bought these in a UK 9 - and they fit great.

This is my second pair of the Made-in-England variety lately on offer here at Zappos. I have been wearing Docs since I was in HS and college back in the 80s, and these are the real deal, not like the asian-made variety. These had a very short break-in period, and quickly become very soft. I have historically worn UK10/US11in the cheap version, but opted for a size-up in these, per advice in reviews, and they are perfect. I have Cherry & Black, and even though it was $500 to get them both, it was worth it. I had my last 8-holes for almost 20yrs...

Love them! Splurged for the Made in England boots and no regrets! Fit is prefect and I'm taking it slow while breaking them in but so far they are very comfortable. Zappos had them here in a quick 35 hours...amazing!

The UK vintage Dr. Martens are well worth the additional cost. Besides them looking absolutely perfect down to the fine details, they're very comfortable. I found them to break in very easily with out any discomfort or blisters during the first week or two of wearing them. I typically wear a 7.5 in men's shoes and went with a size 8 in these, and they fit well with thick socks. I think a size 7 would have been slightly too small and uncomfortable.

This is an outstanding boot in both looks and comfort. It took about a month of wearing them 2-3 times a week to break them in as I was unable to wear them every day due to extremely painful blisters on my heel. The break-in period was very taxing but once broken in these boots are amazing. They hold a shine very well and the sole is very cushioning. I\'ve only had them for about three months so I can\'t speak on their durability but they appear to be holding up fine so far. I\'ve seen some commenters complain that these boots fall apart when used as work boots; in my opinion these are dress boots and not work boots. They\'re good for walking but I wouldn\'t wear them all day in a lumber mill.

Torture for a week, then they feel wonderful. Look is fantastic. Hopefully they hold up better than the series of Chinese Docs I went through (whereas the made-in-England pair I bought in '96 held up for about 6 years of daily wear).

The shoes look great. The Oxblood is a little closer to cherry red than I remember, but they're breaking in nicely. The only issue is the short strings. Zappos shipped it out overnight for free. This is my fourth pair since 1984, I hope they hold up as well as the others.

These Docs are just like the ones I wore back in the day! They are of excellent quality and workmanship. After the break in period, they are the most comfortable shoes I own. I'm on my feet most of the day, and I experience less fatigue and back pain since I began wearing these. It's too bad there is such a premium to pay for the quality, but there is a big difference.

I have had my V1460s for over a year now. I have walked about 1 mile per day in that time, and the soles are holding up extremely well. The boots break in softer than a pair of sneakers, but are very stiff when new. Be prepared for a painful break in period lasting several months. Saddle soap and Neatsfoot oil help to soften the leather. The 1460s take a shine like no other boots I've ever owned.

Deluxe!!! I added Superfeet insoles because I have plantar fasciitis. Wore for short periods of time at first break in. Now they’re the most comfortable boots I own!

I finally had to replace my beloved Docs after 11 years. A lot has changed since then, and I was sad to see that most of the ones out now are made in China and just not the same quality. Luckily, DM has the Vintage line to preserve the same great UK-made boots I remember. They are worth every penny extra and the few weeks of break-in time to get the better quality leather and sturdier construction. I look forward to wearing these boots for another decade! Also, I've found that I have to add insoles to my Docs since they don't have any arch support. The unisex sizes are much more accommodating for this; the women-specific boots tend to run a lot smaller.

Awesome! I buy all my Doc's in US 8; they are a little snug at first, since I usually wear a size 9 but stretch out. Definitely spend a little more and get the Doc's made in "England 1460's"; great boot, wearing same 2 pairs since 1983.

The Dr. Martens Vintage were, as expected, wonderful. With the Vintage there is a slightly longer break in period, but that is offset by the fact that once they have been broken in they are so comfortable.

Like many that have posted I am a long-time DM wearer and was thrilled when I found out that they were making the vintage styles in England again.\r\n\r\nI\'ve had two pairs of 1461\'s (1 pair each of oxblood and black) for about 6 months and they have been superb, but as nice as they are I still wasn\'t prepared for just how good the 1460\'s would be.\r\n\r\nThese boots are better than the originals that I wore in the \'80\'s, and much better than the \'90\'s models. The quality of contruction and attention to detail are second to none - these boots are made as well as any shoe in the world! DMs UK factory is producing world-class products.\r\n\r\nThe fit is exactly as expected and the quilon leather is a revelation. \r\n\r\nOn the negative side, it\'s the same old story; no arch support (this does not bother me, but is important to many) and an extended break-in period, which is made longer with this type of leather.\r\n\r\nOtherwise, I can\'t imagine wearing any other shoe - nothing is as comfortable, lasts as long or is as good a value as a DM product. Well done.

First off, I would like to say how awesome Zappos service is. These people are excellent. Now these 1460 vintage boots are made in England, genuine leather build. It took me a week before the shoe broke in, but now it’s so comfortable and btw, these are my 3rd pair of 1460 boots. I used it everyday as my work horse shoe and it feels great. My only advice is to give these shoe at least a week to mold to your feet and you’re good. And also do not order a size up. I like it and I’m wearing a vintage!

Good quality pair of boots - Better than I remember the 80's version of this boot. Takes a while to break 'em in and I don't think Docs have ever been known for arch support, but these boots were well worth the price I paid. This review is for the Vintage 1460.

Love, love, love these shoes. I ordered them in May and have now worn them to two weddings, three days of work (I work retail and am on my feet all day, so they're not extraordinary for that), and several nights out on the town. They are more comfortable than they have a right to be considering the height of the heel. They're that perfect shoe that makes you feel sexy just by slipping into them.

Definitely the original Docs - True to the original Docs. The new Chinese made Docs don't fit my feet, and I thought I'd never be able to wear Docs again. These are true to the originals (including break in, ouch) with the fit I remember. Once broken in, one of the most comfortable boots I've ever worn. Recommended for anybody looking for the original Docs fit and feel.

It would be great if Dr. Martens made half sizes. I bought 7 US woman and it’s a little small but the 8 is way too big for me

I really like the style of this boots (this is the reason why I’m gonna keep them), the quality is good but I think Solovairs is better. My US size is 7.5 or 8, I ordered UK 5 (7US) it is a little small but UK 6 (8US) is way too big for me I really hope someday Dr. Martens add half sizes.
