I'm into my 2nd winter with the Kailash Lady. I discovered immediately that although the treads are great, the type of rubber used provides almost NO traction for watery, icy, snowy surfaces. Utter waste of money for my city street's trekking even. Also have to add, the midsole proves easily worn down, after very little use. Very disappointed in this brand, but should add the boot still looks like new. Possibly because I get tired of slipping and falling in them, and try only to use them on dry clean surfaces. Not worth the investment, I'm going back to my beloved Asolo's! True fit. Felt great week or two, then midsole fatiguing.

I bought these boots based on recommendations and good reviews. I had a little trouble with the sizing of these boots. I'm usually an 8.5 in us size, and ordered a couple different sizes (39.5, 40, and 40.5) to try. There was barely any difference between the three sizes, which seemed odd to me. I settled on the 40 which is roomy enough to add my Superfeet insoles and also to wear thicker socks and not feel too cramped. I have wide feet so it's hard to find boots that are comfy. My last pair of boots were Asolo, which I loved after a long break in time, but they are just too narrow and I'm too impatient to break them in. These boots have been great so far, minimal break in period and very supportive and sturdy without feeling too heavy.

Great boot! Very comfortable and looks great! I have wide calves and these fit me fine! I too have trouble with the top slipping down, but they look and feel great! Very comfortable to walk in. I wore these at a wedding, and my feet were very comfortable all night long.

Great shoes. Light and comfortable. Enough room for my wide feet. Didn't need to break them in.

It is difficult to find boots/shoes due to my narrow heel. A nice heel pocket, no slipping at all. These boots fit great and seem to be well made. I surrendered to the odd color because they fit so well.

I am a landscaper and finding a comfortable waterproof work boot is really tough. Man's boots hurt at the ankles and the steel toes cut into my foot. Thus I gave these a try and am happy I did. I went on the other reviews and ordered a half size up. No need to do that, wear heavier socks so didn't exchange them. Have a wide foot and these are just fine. Stable ankle support and truly waterproof! I put in 14 hour days and my feet aren't hurting. Will buy again.

THANK YOU SCARPA! These boots are the most comfortable hikers I have ever put on. Right out of the box. No break-in required. I normally wear women’s 8 wide, so I went with an 8.5 and they fit perfectly! The toe is actually a lot stronger and more abrasion-resistant than I thought it would be in the picture. And in a half size up I have plenty of room for my wide toes. The first wear, I took them up ridiculously steep, shale covered, cactus infested, scratchy rock mountain near Lake Mead. They held my ankle in place, supported my recently healed arch, and still had enough flex and cushioning to maintain a natural stride on the approach and retreat. My feet felt great for the whole hike and after...and every hike since. I love them!

I love this shoe - I am not crazy about the look of any hiking boot (I'm a high heel gal normally) but when you are hiking in the woods, a high heel will obviously not do. It is rare to find a shoe in a narrow size that fits my foot without the shoe having to be cinched so tightly that the material bunches up. This is a sturdy and structured shoe that fit me better than any shoe I've worn in the 48 years of my life. Although the she is structured, it gives and protects in all the right places. The tread is awesome and really does brake walking downhill, making for a more secure and pleasant hike down. For the money, I don't think you can find a better hiking boot anywhere. I plan to order a pair for my daughter.

I have a light day hiker and I needed to purchase a heavier boot for an upcoming backpacking trip and this is where the Scarpa Kailash comes into the picture. I broke these in only once before embarking on a 13.2 mile hike over the weekend and my feet, thankfully, felt comfortable all day. No pressure points at the heel when hiking straight up, and no rubbing on the toes when hiking back down. My socks did rub a bit which makes me think I may need sock liners for next time, but the boots performed better than expected. I don't think these need real "breaking-in" as they've felt pretty comfortable straight out of the box for me. I have narrow feet and these overall feel pretty secure around my whole foot (score!). Really satisfied with my purchase! I typically order a whole size larger than my street shoe for hiking boots and these were no different. These are most likely the boots I'll bring with me to trek in the Himalayas next year!

Love my Scarpa's. This is my 2nd pair; bought my first pair 8 years ago and hiked over 100 miles in the Sierra Mtns. and Yosemite incuding submitting some of the mtns. Gave me great support and gripped boulders, rocks, scree, talus, snow.... Since I have high arches used my orthotics, comfortable, no break in period. New pair just as comfortable with same support and grip. I am 62 and hope to put another 100 miles on them!

I baught these boots last year for my trek up Kilimanjaro. I wore them on several hikes before going to Tanzania to break them in but honestly, they were comfortable right out of the box. They were comfortable the entire week and my feet NEVER got cold even during the all night climb to the summit! The ankle support is excellent and I didn't get any blisters. This is a fabulous boot well worth the price.

Fantastic boot! I have a foot with a very narrow heel, but normal foot width, and long toes. It makes it difficult to find a boot long enough that doesn't cause blisters due to heel slip. These boots fit great, right out of the box. I have worn them for 2 years, and they still look and feel great. I wear a size 10.5 in running shoes, and also wear a 10.5 in these boots. The only reason I gave these 4 stars instead of 5 is that they are horrible for steep uphill hikes in soft snow. The tread pattern does not allow for toe traction which leads to slipping. Great traction on flatter ground with snow and ice. (My boot of choice for most sketchy days during winters in Iowa.) Good grip on granite. My feet stayed dry in low stream crossings. Good arch support. Overall, love this boot!

These are kind of cute for hiking boots. I was not sold on the yellow but it is subtle in person. These boots are just a bit too narrow in the toe box for me. Maybe a teeny bit narrower than Vasque Breeze. I tried the women's 40½ and 41½, and also the men's version in 41 (which felt like the same width), but none felt comfortable enough (on my hard to fit feet) to sign up for a long hike.
