Overall liked these shoes very much, until the laces separated and needed to be replaced. For one, you can't find the same laces in the same color anywhere I looked. Then I discovered my shoes cannot be relaced! The laces are sewn in at the back and cannot be removed! I thought the laces were just stuck, so I cut them in the back behind the heel, and they still could not be pulled through the shoe to be removed. Somewhere in the side the laces are sewn in place and cannot be removed. Now it's possible that my shoes are defective, but I wouldn't want to waste my money on shoes that need to be thrown out when a lace breaks!

Here's the issue. The shoes are fabulous, comfortable, and great to wear...until the lace breaks. Then you have to throw them out, since the lace is sewn into the show where it passes around the heel to the other side of the shoe! This planned obsolescence is what made me give them a poor rating. What shoe doesn't allow to replace a broken lace?? Poor design, and quite a rip-off for an otherwise decent shoe.

I had waited for over six months for this shoe. Finally, Zappos came through and got some in stock. This is the most comfortable boat shoe I have ever owned. Only negative is they tend to be a little hot on the foot.

I’ve always had a terrible time finding shoes that a) fit and b) last. I’m 6’3” and 215 lbs with a size 14/15 6E foot. So when somebody mentioned boat shoes to me, I naturally scoffed. But with the free return shipping from Zappos I took the plunge. And boy am I glad I did. The Captain is a great shoe!!! The fit was as good as it gets for me, and boy do they look sharp when you put on some nice shorts and go sockless. The brown leather is as handsome as it gets. I’ve caught a couple guys staring at them in stores already. Just a very sharp shoe. For heavier guys, the lightness of the shoe and its material might make for a shorter lifespan--but up until the day the shoe dies completely, you’ll love ‘em. Just my two cents. <3 Zappos.

These are the only shoes my husband can wear, he has nerve damage after 6 foot surgeries. There is not a lot of pressure anywhere on the foot, I'd say these work well for flat-footed men. These fit perfect (after going down 1 size from 13 to 126E), look nice and really hold up well. This is about the 10th pair we've purchased!

I recently received a pair o boat shoes for a Christmas gift however, they were the wrong size. I thought that it was going to be a big hassle to exchange them but to my surprise it was a wonderful experience and I received my replacement within 24 hours. What great service! As to my NB Dunham Captain shoe they fir perfectly and I have a great deal of trouble finding my narrow size. I always purchased Sebago boat shoes but now I have changed brands because of the fit.

With size 12A/B feet (i.e. long and skinny) finding comfortable shoes has been a challenge, especially in the casual category. These Dunhams fit like gloves, right out of the box. No break in required. A winner!

These were really comfortable, right out of the box. There's more support and cushioning than Sperry. It's a soft, more casual type shoe.

Fantastic boat shoe! I have very wide feet and the 4E fit perfect. I usually wear a size 12 but fit into an 11 1/2. It is my first pair of Dunham and will buy more shoes in the future.

My feet are narrower than average and most D width shoes that stores carry proved at best a sloppy and loose fit. The laces make an even better fit. Shoes were comfortable right out of the box. Ordering was easy and delivery on schedule.

I tried five different boat shoes, from the least expensive to the most expensive. These were, by far, the best value. From the moment I took them out of the box and put them on, they felt great. My husband is a congestive heart patient who deals with feet swelling that goes up and down. These shoes were perfect for him in having the tie arrangement but more importantly were available in a very wide width which is hard to find. The shoes are not just functional but really do look sharp and not a therapeutic type shoe.

This is the third pair of these shoes that my son has owned in 2 years. They are infinitely comfortable, and last a very long time - he wears them daily and has used them to walk many miles per day.

This is the first shoe that I have found to fit my Very Wide feet and they are well made. Would definitely recommend.

Love these shoes for my son who has a tough time finding comfortable shoes with an arch support. VERY comfortable and durable - they lasted the whole school year last year!

This is a great shoe. I\'ve searched forever for a comfortable pair of deck shoes for my husband who wears a size 17 - and Dunham appears to be the only one that makes them in this size. He loves them and wears them everywhere. Shipping was super-fast. Can\'t say enough good things about Zappos or the shoe. Now if only Docksiders or Sebago would make a deck shoe in a 17!
