A manipulation advocate will name something that which it is not in order to facilitate misdirection. Using the term police action when by all definitions it is war is a classic. The comfort in this case must be qualified in order to hold true. If you will note the toe box you will see in the top view that both straps curve inward as they progress toward the front. This pulls directly on the tarsals instead of the metatarsals. If you are a big fan of foot binding in the traditional Japanese practice or have shoved your mutely protesting foot into a pointy, unnatural shape because of current fashion or bargain you may find these shoes comfortable. As to the top strap, the two side wings stop short of the center, leaving the nylon strap to press directly upon the tibialis anterior, which as we all know flexes with every step as the foot angle becomes acute. This may be mollified if one were to wear socks. If your instep were the perfect height for the two wings to meet there would still be a space, or worse, an overlap which the flexor muscle would press against each time the foot is flexed. One other approach to achieving comfort is to simply ignore it. Shame too. Its such a pretty shoe. This is what I have found. Your results may vary. What is quality? R.M. Pirsig

I was really on the fence about ordering these sandals. Previously, I tried MBT rocker shoes and found them uncomfortable. Also, I stay away from Euro sizes, because Mephisto shoes never fit me. Lastly, most of the Finn line looks rather "matronly", so I wondered if these sandals would look good. Once I took the plunge and ordered a pair, I became totally hooked. Really great comfort (I even use them when running on an elliptical trainer), perfect fit and they look very "young".

Nice sandals and nobody else has this color.
I already had tried on some Finns - so knew that the 37 would fit a US 7.5 (which is what I normally wear). Wanted to try these because I have worn MBTs for the last couple of years due to issues w/ my lower back, but they are too unstable to wear now due to a hip injury. I ordered this model because of the other review mentioning that this model had higher arch supports than the other Finns. Definitely not as much “rock” as the MBTs - but still no sensation of heel strike. While the sandals have better arch support than most shoes, I still need to add some additional support - but am keeping the sandals! Note that the ads say that you can put in your own orthotics - but if they aren't shaped like the Finn footbed, that doesn't work very well. They are very comfy. A little too wide in the heel if I don't wear socks, but I have about a 4A heel...

I loved these sandals from the first time I put them on my feet. I have plantar fasciitis and these shoes are so wonderful that I don't feel sore heels at all. The velcro stays tight and the fit is really fantastic.

Most comfortable sandals ever! They kind of tilt my foot to the outside which takes pressure off the arch which is good because it relieves any strain on my posterior tibial tendon. I wish they looked fancy so I could also wear them to evening events.

This shoe is a life saver. I have bone spurs on the top of my left foot, and the nerves run across the top of the spurs. This shoe allows that portion of my foot to have freedom without pressure from straps or laces. The first time out I wore them to a jazz festival, lots of walking very comfortably. This shoe also has the rocker sole, which exercises the muscles in your legs (takes a little getting used to).

From California -
This is absolutely the best sandal I have tried. I’ve got feet problems Plantar Fasciitis and thought I was doomed to ugly uncomfortable sandals for ever. But I can wear these without medical insets and wear them all day with pain or aches. These are so worth the money. I now own 3 pair; so that I can change out daily cause I wear them all the time, even as slippers in the house

Superb support -
Excellent arch support. If you wear MBT's, the rocker bottom of the Finn comfort is not near the ' rock ', but you can feel it propel you as you walk. And unlike the MBT, your arch is fully supported. If you are a Finn Fan, the arch in the Samara is much higher than a regular Finn.

I love this shoe, but like another reviewer, must return it do to a very short ankle strap. If you have a high instep, this won't work for you. What a shame, because it's a wonderful shoe.

I am so bummed! I absolutely love these shoes! They are just what I want, except my arches are not high enough for them! If you have high arches, you are in for the most wonderful treat! The Samara! Lucky you! Enjoy!

This is the first shoe that has truly fit me. In years? Maybe in my whole life! It feels incredible to wear. Great arch support. So cuddly. But most importantly, for me, it is built perfectly for my incredibly narrow heel, "skinny"/low volume/low instep foot. It accommodates my wide toes. I think what makes it work is how flexible and thin (but strong) the ankle strap is. It's not like other sandals where the velcro is thick and it can't be bent past a certain point to cradle a skinny foot. It's totally flexible fabric. I love these shoes. I normally wear a 41 European but these fit me as a 40.

The best shoe ever. I have high arches, and the nice arch support is perfect for me. When I wear this shoe (which I do almost every day, if only around the house) my back hurts less, my legs hurt less, and my posture is better. These are better than my last pair of Finn Comfort sandals because the back of the shoe holds my heel securely. This shoe runs large in my case.

I love this sandal which is going to be my summer sneaker. It is so comfortable; fits well. I ordered it from Zappos and, a day and a half later; it was waiting for me at my front door! It may be pricey, but I love Finn products and have been wearing them for years. I have flat feet and they are good for my back, joints, etc.!

This is probably the best and the most comfortable sandal I have ever owned. I have another pair in tan color, wore it to death, and decided I deserve to buy myself another in black. I have walked for miles on end with these and my feet never tire or hurt. They look sort of clunky, but what do I care when it makes me feel like I'm walking on clouds?

I needed a sandal that gave the support of a shoe. I have tendon problem and must have a heel cup for support. This sandal is working great! I'd buy it just for the insole, fits like a glove.

Best shoes I have ever worn - These combine great arch and ankle support, comfortable footbed, adjustable velcro straps, excellent durability with no breaking in needed. They are expensive, but worth every penny. After all day wear my feet feel wonderful. And they will last for years. I own 6 pairs in several different colors.

The Finn Comfort Samara sandle is comfortable and well made. I wish I could keep it. However it has a medium arch. I have very high arches and pain in the metatarsal region of the foot and pain in my heel. If you have very high arches like me, and you have foot pain like me, you probably won't be able to wear these shoes, or any finn comfort shoes. However is you are lucky enough to have medium arches, this could become your favorite shoe!

Rubbing point on the inside of great toes for me. Less coverage would've been perfect. Sorry that I have to return these; great style, color scheme and comfort other than above-mentioned.

This is a really cute shoe, but after trying to wear it in the house for several days, I found one foot was becoming quite sore. The arch support on this shoe is very high, so it takes some getting used to and almost feels like your instep is being bruised. I agree with one reviewer about trying to put a custom orthotic in the shoe; Finn Comfort footbeds are removable, but the orthotics do not fit in the formed footbed, so it is not a great shoe for inserting custom footbeds. Great support though. The only other complaint I have is that the strap across the front of the ankle is made of material, and on the shoes I had, it was very scratchy and irritated my skin. Unfortunately, I had to send them back after trying to wear them around the house and get used to them. I have not yet given up on Finn Comfort because they seem to have the most arch support of any shoes I have tried, but I think I will just lay low for now. I did not find these as comfortable as the reviews indicated.

I ordered these shoes yesterday and received them from Zappos today. As always, excellent Zappos service. These are my first pair of Finn shoes. They fit my feet well. My feet are wide across the ball and narrow in the heel, with average height/volume. These shoes have good cushioning and provide excellent support. I like the adjustable straps and slightly rockered bottom. I am not fond of the light-colored footbed -- I imagine it’ll look dirty/worn very quickly. These shoes are expensive, and I’m not sure they’re worth it, but they fit well so I’ll keep them and see how they do over time.

I am not sure this is the correct shoe for me. I have great difficulty finding a sandal that fits my wide foot. Have worn this shoe around the house, unfortunately the inner sole shows some slight discolor so I am stuck with an expensive shoe.

Very disappointing - a great sandal with an unacceptably hard and uncomfortable arch support inside. Would have bought this, if it hadn't been for the rock hard arch support. Other reviews said the same, I should have listened.

I ordered these because I have arthritis in my feet and it is painful to wear most shoes. I also have a high arch, Extra wide feet and my feet are thick. These shoes fit my hard to fit feet and are very comfortable they support my very high arches. As an added bonus my knees do not hurt when I wear these (I have very bad knees that always hurt,)not sure if it is the arch support or just the design of the shoe. Needless to say I am very pleased with these shoes and they are worth every penny. I ordered a 37 and I usually order 38's (size 7-7 1/2)

Love these sandals so much I also have them in black. I live in them all summer long. They are comfortable and great for all the walking I do. Can't say enough good things about them. I normally wear a 38 in Finn's. This sandal I had to go down a size to 37. Exchange was easy with Zappos.
