I have owned several pairs of these and no longer recommend them. While the style is decent and they are very comfortable, they do not hold up. The leather is very thin and things like driving wear it down quickly. My last pair lasted three months before looking chewed up. Other reviews have noted this and they are right. Just pulled my last new pair out and it's amazing how mad the old ones wore.

Classic design, suitable for both casual and formal attire. Light, flexible and very comfortable.

This is the perfect shoe for my current situation: it looks nice, has a flexible sole and a low heel, and it will be no great loss if it gets ruined. If you're looking for some great pennies, invest a few hundred dollars in a pair that will outlast your career. If you need something comfy and expendable but nice looking, here's your shoe!

An Excellent Shoe - I was delighted with the design, quality and finish of the J-M Ainsworth loafer. They have been comfortable from day one. I recommend this model very highly.

So far... These are my first Johnson & Murphy shoes. I have been wearing Rockport and Dexter in this style for a number of years. I have only worn the J&M for one day, but they are very comfortable, broke in quickly. To my eye they are very good looking and seem to have the quality workmanship that the price implies. I think these are a very good value.

Super - I have yet to try it on my feet at work, but I'm sure this one's a keeper. It looks great, and at least in the few minutes I've worn it so far, it's the most comfortable loafer I've ever worn. Stylish. Not your typical prep-school or grandpa loafer, though prep-school students and grandpas would look great in it. Looks good with socks or barefoot. Feels great either way. Not sure how long it'll last -- I've only just gotten it today. But it seems reasonably well-constructed. The sole is rubber, which is great for not sliding around clumsily like I do in my leather-soled shoes. But it's also stitch-down construction, so if the sole is glued on, it's stitched on, as well. (Personal preference. Glue on nice shoes annoys me, and stitches look better and last longer.) Definitely get this loafer if you're looking for one. It's not cheap, but it seems worth the price.

Really comfortable - As comfortable as slippers, soft leather, good looking. Much nicer than I had expected for the very reasonable price. As always, Zappos service is great.

Johnston & Murphy Casual Comfort - This is a good casual but dressy loafer that can be worn for almost any occasion with or without socks... Good choice and very comfortable.

J&M Ainsworth Loafer - Good comfortable shoes at a good price. They don't take much of a shine.

This is the second pair of these I have purchased. After 4 months, the left heel has developed a squeak. It is something inside the sealed heel and I there is no way find and fix the source. I get stares walking through my office. It pisses me off that I now have to throw away an otherwise perfectly good pair of shoes. For almost $160, I have pretty high expectations, like the shoe should last more than 4 months. Save your money and buy something else.

These are great shoes. We sadly had to return because my husband is Big Foot - the shoe fit a little too big in the back of his foot/heel and slid up as he walked. But his toes were being squished in the front of the shoe (yes, even though it is a "wide" shoe). I'm telling you, weird shaped feet, like duck feet; wider in the front but not in the back. If you are not oddly shaped but have a larger foot, these are lovely shoes.

The shoes fit well and are quite comfortable. They are just what I wanted. It would have been better if the insoles were easily removeable as I use orthotics.

This is my third pair. They wear like iron and are comfortable from the first moment. The soles are great on slick surfaces.

I am 85 years old and am a bit broken down, a '34 model with a million miles down rocky roads... feet are part of the package, and the Ainsworth penny loafer fits all my criteria: they are comfortable, wear well, dressy enough for most occasions, are easy to step into, they fit well and stay on; and they are approved by my podiatrist and physical therapist.

These were a gift for my husband. He liked the style and the fit.

Overall good buy, I’ve been needing a pair of loafers. The last pair I had lasted me almost years with regular wear and upkeep. I don’t think these will last as long, but should definitely be able to up.

My podiatrist was pleased with this shoe. I am 84 years old and have 3 pair of this shoe. I figure they will see me through the balance of my life for casual and light dress wear.
