been wanting to have this for more than 10 years now, but its kinda hard to get them from my country. Now that we are in the USA, we have access already (Zappos) ,my wife bought this without hesitation since she knows how much I wanted to have these. Lucky Me. Anyway dont forget to size down, either a half or a full size down. thank me later.

The fit is very good, new leather was a small pinch tight first wear, now fit is perfect. Materials are very high quality, and workmanship is superb. This is my third pair of redwings and I love wearing them. They’re a little expensive but well worth it. Highest recommendation!

These take a couple of months to be truly broken in. Just be tougher than the boot and it is totally worth it. I wore my last pair for 8 years and had them re-soled 4 times. They form into a totally custom fit over time. The leather is top quality and cleans up well. If you take care of them and oil them once or twice a year they will last for years.

First of all, Zappos customer service is the best I’ve encountered. They make sure everything is right. My advice on sizing, if you happen to wear Thorogood Moc-Toe’s, I find that the sizing is the same. So if you’re 9EE in Thorogood’s, I would order 9EE in Red Wing Moc’s. If you’re sizing from scratch, I would go a half-size down from your Brannock. If you have wider feet, I would go a full size down from your Brannock and get the EE width. Anyways, Zappos has me sold. I’m a customer for life.

Best boots in the world- 3 years daily use - major comfort - just give them about a month to break-in and form to your exact foot shape. I'm thinking about getting new soles.

The recommendation to drop a half size down was spot on cause I normally wear a 10 but the 9.5 is perfect. I can tell the boots are well made with top quality leather. I love the look and feel of the boots and can’t wait to get them broken in. I have wanted a pair of Red Wings for a long time and I’m going to enjoy these. Thanks

These are incredible boots! I wear the 875s and the 1907s. The quality, durability, and style are all unmatched my any brand that may seem like a "better deal." I put "no arch support" in the ratings since they are not built with a shank. That said, they are incredibly comfortable to me, and only get better with age. The sole does not last as long as the Thorogood wedge, this is true. However, mine have always lasted many years before a resole is needed. I use these for casual and work, but I am a Fedex Express courier, and not in construction. If I were in construction, I would still probably wear these, but I love the idea of an old school boot. Most in construction would go over to the "work" side of Red Wing. Do yourself a favor... Pick up a pair of these! Size down a half size, though!

This boot has been around since the '50s pretty much unchanged, so you know it's a great design and will last. I've been wearing these since I was a kid in the mid-'70s--This is my third pair of Red Wing moc toes. If you do the minimal maintenance on them--like apply some type of good quality leather conditioner two or three times a year--you'll probably own these forever. These can be resoled, and you can buy new laces when they wear out. The boots do a pretty good job of keeping rain out if you happen to get caught in a storm; the gusseted tongue and tight stitching seal the water out if you have to make a mad dash to shelter in a heavy rain--just remember they are not waterproof, and after ten minutes or so of being soaked, they will start to leak. Break-in take a small bit of commitment; the high quality leather is a bit stiff out of the box, and you will feel some minor rubbing and pinching at the ankle for the first week, but if you size them correctly, they'll be pretty comfy after a week, then only get better with age. Pro tip: wear thick cotton or merino wool boot socks during break-in. The materials and construction are first-rate. There is a reason why all the rural workers and urban hipsters love them: they are comfortable, long-lasting, good-looking boots and a great value.

These boots run large and a little narrow. I ended up with an 8.5 EE when I would usually take a 9 M. It takes awhile to break them in but now they are quite comfortable. The construction is amazing and I am sure I'll be wearing these for a long time.

high-quality boots on every aspect. my suggestion would be to size these boots one size down. normally a 10D or 43 EU so with redwing weekender 9 and these 875's also a 9. They fit well with thick socks and are roomy with normal socks. when fitting, I mainly seek where my foot bends to understand if a boot is a right size. Bent at the widest part of the boot and didn't squash any toes, some heel slip, tight on the sides and plenty of room in my toes, and a little snug. All good signs according to all the suggestions. Currently breaking these in and on my second week wearing full day 4x a week and these are relentlessly tough. I'm barely breaking the footbead and the tops rub against the back of my leg right below the calf. If you're in the market, they are really pretty but don't get them expecting to be comfy right out the box. Will update my review after the break-in. I have tried the Thorogood boots and significantly more comfortable on day one. The leather is much more supple. Those boots will need to break in on the width of your foot. Both are great boots but these fit my foot better like where my foot bends and liked the build quality more than the Thorogood. I posted a picture on day one of the boot and could not lace up like I normally would due to the toughness of the leather.

I ordered one whole size down based on previous reviews (normally wear 11, ordered 10). For me this full size down resulted in a too-tight fit. Had to return. Would have ordered 10.5 but not available at this time. Otherwise loved everything about these boots.

These boots are well built. I usually wear a 12 or 12.5 US in most major brands. With these boots, I found my best fit was 11.5 US. They are a little more narrow than the shoes I usually wear. I'd compare the narrow width to something like a Nike running shoe.

The 6" Moc Toes are a classic Red Wing and must-have for anyone looking for a pair of Red Wings. As many have mentioned in the reviews, the sizing for these are definitely a bit... funky. For example: I typically wear a size 9.5 in Vans, and a 10 in Nike and New Balance running shoes - all standard width. My size for these boots are... *drum roll*... an 8 EE. If I had to give you any piece of advice when purchasing these: if you're lucky enough to have a Red Wing store near you, go in and get fitted! If not, definitely plan to size at least one full-size down your normal shoe size. You may need to experiment a bit to find the right size, but don't get discouraged. These are incredible boots!

Bought these for my boyfriend, and he loves them. He has a pair of Red Wing Iron Rangers in an 11, but had to size up to 11.5 in these. The break-in period is pretty brutal, but it's totally worth it.

Perfect fit. Shoe feels great and very soft to walk in. The white sole takes a little to get used to and the boot is like a big box at the toe and not sleek, but looks great with dark jeans

All time favorite boots I've owned. The one thing I've learned about red wings is yea they can take a minute to break in, but it's so crucial that you get your size right. If you don't these boots will definitely fight you, and trust me they will win.

3 weeks in these boots and I love them. The leather is amazing. They look incredible - I get more compliments on these boots than any other shoes. I wear 14 but got 13s do to RWs running large & the fit is spot on. Just buy them.

Bought these as a gift for my husband and he loved them. He wanted a boot that would last the rest of his life, and he thought these would do it. Pretty comfortable out of the box and they'll be better when broken in. The only thing was they do seem to run large. Other reviewers had mentioned it so I bought a half size smaller than his normal 'street shoe' size. They were close-ish to the right size new, but he worried they'd be sloppy after breaking in. Thanks to Zappos great shipping / return policies, we ordered the next size down to compare. He kept the smallest size (so, a full size smaller than what he'd wear in running shoes and the like).

I'm writing this review for those out there who might be new to Red Wings. I'll start by saying that I currently own 9 pair of RWs, and this is based solely on my own personal experience with my feet(not a wide foot, size 10 in sneakers). From model to model, sizing varies greatly with Red Wings, and finding the correct size can be down right maddening.. For example I'm going to compare two Moc Toes, the 1907 and 875, two of the most iconic and popular Moc Toes in RW's lineup. These two boots, although both Moc Toe designs, have completely different Last's. A Last being the solid form or shape that makers use to mold the boot around, that gives the boot its distinct fit, feel, and shape. Last's are incredibly important when it comes to not only sizing the boot properly, but finding a Last that works well with your foot shape. The 1907 is built on RW's #45 Last, while the 875 is built on the #23 last(I think Zappos would benefit from giving the 1907 its own product page, because a lot of buyers assume it is the same in sizing as the other Moc Toes). In my Moc Toes on the #23 Last, I go one full size down from my sneaker size of 10, so a 9. However in the 1907, due to the different Last, triple welt construction, and being one of only two RW models with a removable insert, I feel like a 1/2 size down from my sneaker size would have been best. The custom insert that comes with the 1907 is quite nice and comfortable, but really makes sizing properly a huge pain. I have been wearing my 1907s hard for a few weeks now, and I can tell they just will never stretch to the point where I want them to be. Sorry to drone on so much, but I wanted to provide as much info as possible on this area. Check out Red Wings website when considering a pair of their boots, they have a lot of info on Last's, materials, sizing and construction. And don't be afraid to abuse Zappos lightning fast shipping and incredible return policy to test a few different sizes before making a final decision. Red Wing customer for life!

Buy 3-5 pair. Try them on and walk around. New, good (well-fitted) boots will have an element of discomfort, it's all about how much you can deal with for 6-8 weeks, and how much you can trust the leather will break within that period. The pair that fit right for you will hit your toes and/or heels in a weird way, but not an intolerable way. You're going to have to deal with it for a while. Also, I sized down a size and a half. Kind of. 11.5 D to 10 EE. Buy 3-5 pair.

Bought these boots with hopes they would be suitable for working in classroom where I would be on my feet all day. Very glad I went ahead and purchased a pair of Red Wing boots- The style of these boots makes them very suitable for both the classroom and after hours, matching well with khakis and jeans. The fit on these boots is also just as they say; you may want to get a half size down or so to ensure a good fit and be ready to have slightly sore feet for the first couple days as you break them in, but the small amount of discomfort is worth the fit you will get after a while. I would highly recommend these shoes and am hopeful they are durable enough to last me a couple years before I buy another pair of the same Red Wing boots.

It took just five rounds of exchanges to find the boot size that fit me best. Pro-tip: you’ll more than likely want to size down a half- or full size. Wear hiking or boot socks vs. thinner dress socks when you try them on, and note that new Moc Toes should feel very snug (though not pinch-tight) on the sides. The sides are where the boots will eventually soften and expand as they’re broken in, so if yer comfy in the toes/heels you should be good to go. As for the shoe itself, the 8849 is a beautiful matte warm black color with dark brown trim that can be worn dressed up or down. PS: Zappos allows only one round of free exchanges, but the CS Zapponians I chatted with were freakin awesome and helped to expedite each exchange. But—if you don’t have two weeks to spend on size-finding, best to visit your local Red Wing or boot store and get best fit in one go. After all, you’ll probably wear these boots for the rest of your life.

I’ve only been wearing them for a couple of weeks now, but they are already breaking in nicely. Once the leather footbed molds to my feet, I can’t imagine how comfortable these things will be. I’ve heard a lot of nightmares about breaking in any red wings. These were stiff at the beginning, but I think if you get the sizing right you shouldn’t have to deal with blisters or anything too bad. The quality of the leather is very good. I won’t say these boots are the best quality boots I’ve ever seen, but they are on par if not slightly above par for the price point. I started wearing them all day to work from day 1 with no issues. With that said, I have an office job and don’t have to walk a lot. If you are buying these for a manual labor job, I would suggest wearing them around the house for a week or 2 before trying to wear them to work. Anyway, it is still pretty early, but I think these will be a great boot that will be in my collection for many years.
