These boots are amazing! Here are my stats: I'm 5'6 , wear size 8, and my calf has a 15.5" circumference. It's usually so frustrating to find boots that fit, as I have to go up a size and then it's too big in the foot. Hunter boots? Forget about it. So I was so excited when I found these. They're perfect. I can wear them with skinny jeans and they don't bulk up. They can be stiff at first, but get very comfortable quickly. Hope this helps!

I absolutely love these boots. I've had so much trouble finding boots that fit me because I have really wide athletic calves (17 inches around the widest part). I'd basically given up on finding tall boots that fit, but fell in love with these ones and figured I'd give them a shot (I heart Zappos shipping policy). I could actually get them on! They are a little big snug with my skinny jeans, but I'm assuming that the leather will stretch a tad as I wear them in. And with leggings or tights they feel just great. I'm normally a size 10, and my feet slip around a little, particularly in the heel area. I'm not sure it's a full half-size larger (I think the 9.5 might be too small for me), but it's definitely roomier than other Frye boots I've tried on. I bought them in Tan, although I was also really tempted by the Grey color. The tan is beautiful; it's sort of rustic looking and very unique. The color is lighter than most boots I've seen, though not quite as light as it looks in the photo. Fantastic boots, I'd definitely recommend them. If you have more slender calves (lucky!) though, you might be swimming in them a little.

I love these boots. Just be aware that the shaft circumference varies by size. One site says 14 3/4" on a size 6, Zappos says 16" on size 7, and my size 9's are a full 17". This is normally too big for me, but this style is so casual, I don't think it looks as bad as a 'too big' dress boot, if that makes sense. I wear a size 9 in everything, and these are a smidge loose, but I didn't go down a size due to no zipper on these boots.

I bought these January 2010 and had a love-hate-love relationship with them. I'm 5' tall, 120 lbs, with a 14.5" calf at the largest point. I usually wear a size 4 or 6 in clothes and a 6.5 or 7 shoe. I bought them in a 6.5 in black and they were beautiful from the start. The leather is like butter, there was absolutely no breaking in period and I loved them. But after a while I felt like they were too tall for my frame, they came right under my knees, and then the extra pieces of leather started to flare out making my legs look wider than they actually are. I took them to my shoe guy and he sewed the outer flaps down on the sides which definitely helped, but it didn't solve the problem of the shaft being too tall for me. Plus, I found I couldn't wear them with skinny jeans; I could only wear them over leggings or with tights & a skirt. Being so petite, I could only wear them with a relatively short skirt or else the proportions were all wrong. For the price I really wanted something I could use all the time. So began the hate part (sigh). Now it's November 2010 and I'm back to loving them. The leather has softened even more so they slouch just enough to bring the shaft down about an inch or 2 which is perfect for me. Plus, I can wear them for 13 hours straight without a problem. People have reported the soles are thin and they are, compared to my Campus 14G lug sole boots, but they've held up really well. Overall, I'm happy I kept them.

Very nice boot. Slim looking, beautiful leather, and a comfortable heel height. A little taller than the equally lovely Melissa Button (which created a boot muffin top on me). Paige was muffin top-free.

These were my first pair of Frye boots and I now have three because I love them so much! I can't go anywhere without someone complimenting me on them. Hard to get on for a few days, but if you slip your foot into a plastic bag with a hole for your toe and then pull the bag out when you have them on, it works like butter.

I bought these in the cognac color after much hemming and hawing and I love them! I couldn't decide between these and the Melissa Buttons...might have to get the Melissas next. I've been wanting a pair of Frye boots for at least 5 years now, so finally went for it. I'm 5'6, have relatively short legs, and these hit just below the knee. I usually wear an 8 but got a 7 1/2 based on some of the recommendations and they're perfect. The leather is beautiful and the style is tough and sassy. They were incredibly hard to get on and off (took me a full 10 minutes at the end of the day) but I think they are loosening up already. Also, yes, I do have a couple of blisters. But considering the fact that I wore them for 10 hours (and the number of compliments I got) that is totally worth it.

These boots are incredible. I have a very wide calf (17") and really struggled to find anything that would fit. After a little extra stretch from my shoe guy they are perfect. I do typically wear a 9 in most shoes/boots - in these boots I had to return the 9 and order the 8½. There was simply too much extra space in the toe. The leather is soft and supple. After a few short weeks these already comfortable boots feel like they were made for my feet! The saddle color is unique which I absolutely love. I will be ordering them in black as well.

The most beautiful boots ever. AT FIRST they will be close to impossible to get on and off... but this goes away after a few wears. Very comfortable. You might have a few blisters, too, for the first few wears, but it gets better. So worth it.

I finally decided to buy these boots and I am so happy that I did. I was worried because I am short (5'3), but they come up just below my knee cap. They are the perfect height! I decided to ignore the comments about ordering down a half size. I am a size 8 and ordered a size 8 and they are perfect. I found that putting on thicker socks when I wear tights takes care of any heel slippage. I have thicker calves so I was worried they would be tight, but they are perfect. I have plenty of room for skinny jeans. I also had no problem getting them on and off. These are definitely my favorite boots and I have been wearing them constantly. I can't wait to order some other colors!

I've looked for the perfect black riding boots for years, and found them in these. It took one day to break them in and they're comfortable enough to wear all day, every day. The first pair I bought had a problem with the heel after 3 weeks -- the heel started to crack a bit -- but Zappos sent a replacement pair the day after I reported it. The service is so incredible that it deserves 5 stars alone.

I have read almost every review on this boot because I just could not decide what my new Frye boot was going to be for this season. I just got my Zappos box with these and they are GORGEOUS! I ordered the cognac color and it the most beautiful leather... BUT, sigh... sadness, they will be going back. The reviews about the top fanning out are true. I haven't ever given much thought to my ankles but I guess they might be skinnier than I thought because there really is a lot of room at the top of these boots for me. I keep trying them on in hopes that my calves have gotten a wee bit bigger for them to fit, but I just think it's like extra leather. The size for me was good. Although, after wearing them in my house, the heel does seem to have a bit more room and the leather isn't tight against my front calf, like maybe the Frye Chelsea riding boot, my next choice! I also read plenty reviews about the soles being thin, and they are definitely thinner than other Frye's I own. So sad to have to send them back as they are gorgeous but as you know if you're reading this, it has to be just right if your going to invest in a new Frye boot! Love Zappos for their great service and easy returns... onto the next boot!

I love these boots. They're dark brown - almost to the point of black - and go with everything. I have huge calves - like literally nothing fits them - and these boots fit. It's kind of a miracle. I'm a 7 1/2 - 8 and I wish I had ordered the 7 1/2. They're a little big but fit well with a thick pair of socks.

These boots are great but I am so glad I read the reviews before trying them on. I would have sent them back because they are really really hard to get on at first. They do stretch and are more comfortable every time I wear them. I always get compliments on them. Love them!

I only just received these boots, but I am already in love! I was on the fence about what size to order, after reading the reviews, but eventually decided on a size 6 instead of my usual 6½ in boots. When I first tried to put them on, it took a whole lot of effort just to get my feet in. However, after having walked around in them, and used the tried and true hairdryer technique to stretch the leather a bit, they are quite comfortable. For reference, I have short but wide feet, and they can sometimes be tricky to find shoes that fit nicely. Although I do not think that I will be able to wear thick socks with them until I have broken the boots in a little more, I am glad that I ordered the 6. In terms of appearance, these boots are absolutely gorgeous! The Cognac Shine is a beautiful brown, very rich and looks like it will be easy to dress up and down.

These are beautiful boots but I literally could not even get my foot all the way down into the boot to see if they fit. If it was a guaranteed fit, I'd consider spending the money to have a cobbler add a zipper because the boots are just that nice.

I love these boots! They are very comfortable, high quality, and a classic design. I'm 5'9" and they fit in the perfect place right below the knee. I have 15 1/2" calves from years at the gym and these fit comfortably -- tight enough to wear with hose/tights without sagging and I can still tuck jeans/pants in. They aren't cheap, but worth it...and a lot cheaper than the $900 similar Lucchese's I tried on.

I love these boots! They are beautiful and incredibly comfortable. I have been looking for knee-high black boots for about two years and could never find any locally that weren't made out of plastic, worth the money, or were big enough to fit comfortably around my apparently "large" or "athletic" calves (these are the terms that I have learned over my search). Who knew that my legs were that big? Anyways, these boots fit incredibly comfortably, are knee high, and are gorgeous. I own another pair of Frye boots and can't say enough about how wonderful they are. I could not find these boots locally, so a huge thanks to Zappos for being awesome and helping end my search! If you have been looking for a beautiful pair of black boots, these are the boots for you!

These boots are awesome! So beautiful and definitely worth it. Since I'm on the short side (5'3"), I was a bit concerned they'd be too tall, but they hit in just the right spot below my knee. I decided to order half a size down from my normal size based off of other reviews and they ended up fitting perfectly. If you re waffling about whether or not to get them, go for it. You won t regret it!

I love these boots. Unfortunately I'm one of those girls who has a hard time finding boots to fit my "athletic" calves. These are so comfortable, and I can tuck my skinny jeans into them. They are very chic and polished looking. At first I was afraid they wouldn't fit because I was having a hard time getting my foot into them. After some initial despair, I got a slippery sock and with a little bit of elbow grease I persevered. Second time was much easier. Just wanted to mention this because I almost gave up and sent them back. So happy I didn't! Highly recommended!

I ordered this boot in grey. Let me just say, this color is perfect. It's the gray/taupe color I never knew I was missing until I saw it! I can't imagine anyone not falling in love with the color at first sight! In Frye boots, I usually wear an 8; however, after reading reviews from lots of sites, I decided to order them in my normal 8.5. One of my friends ordered the boot in the saddle color in an 8. I tried to put hers on, but my right foot was a little too snug, so I'm glad I ordered the 8.5! Now for the (slight) cons. The gray boots had an overwhelming wax-like smell. I tried to air them out in the guest bedroom, but it just made that room smell like wax. (The saddle color smells perfectly of leather.) The other con is that it's not the most flattering boot. My calves are 14.25" at their widest, but the way the top of the boots fit, they looked huge. I ended up sending them back because of these two reasons, but am still tempted to order them again because the style and color are so perfect and unique and will be in style for decades to come!

These boots look as amazing in person as they do in the picture - no disappointment there. They are definitely quality boots... At least if they fit you. These are five star boots, but I had to give them three stars because I had to send them back a second time. The fit just was not right. I do not have huge calves by any stretch, but I find that I have a hard time with tall boots because my calves are bigger than average for people with my shoe size (7½). Anticipating that this might be an issue, I ordered the first pair half a size bigger than my regular size, in an 8, but I could not even get my heel down into them, so I just assumed they ran smaller and I sent them back and ordered the 8½. Imagine my excitement when my feet and calves slid right in with no problem - and then my disappointment when I noticed one size up was way too long for my feet, and there was way too much room in the ankle area, which caused it to bunch up and wrinkle there, and not in a cute way. I did want to point out that they hit me right at the knee and did not look overwhelming on me, and I am 5'2" - but I have a short torso and longer legs, so if you are built similarly (but have smaller calves), you could probably pull them off even if you are short.

Loved them, but like another buyer, could not get them on over my high arches. I bought a special shoe horn, hoping to get in there, and when I did they were great...getting them off was a new challenge. In the end I decided to return as I could not fathom doing this every time I took them on and off. Sad. But they are beautiful boots. I highly recommend them to people with lower arches than I.

I have been lusting after some Frye boots for the last year or so, and I finally bite the bullet on these Paige tall riding boots. I am 5'0" and have a 15" calf. I was worried these would be too snug, but they fit really beautifully. The extra flap of leather in the front adds some dimension and style. They hit me right below the knee. The back of the boot is cut in a V so it has a bit of give. The fit is snug around leggings or skinny jeans, but is definitely comfortable. I did ask my shoe guy about Frye, and he said that if needed we could stretch the shaft. The leather is of the highest quality and it is so soft and pliable. Once broken in, these should wear and stretch really well. I ordered a 6½ and that is my regular size. There is a slight heel slippage but just enough to allow you to take the boots on and off easily. If you are having a hard time getting these on and off, get a boot jack. That seems to help in getting them on and off. My only issue is that I got the black and my problem now is that I want another pair in cognac.

Great boots that look good with everything. I wear these with skinny jeans, short skirts, and frilly dresses and they always work. The flat heel makes these very comfortable but they still look great. I have the distressed gray color and I get tons of compliments. I always buy Frye because of their quality and comfort.
