Zappos requested I help out and always being the type of person, I obliged. I purchased these for my girlfriend, so I can't really comment on the fit and feel. Being a dude, I don't really understand the looks and to be quite honest, all boots look the same to me. However, I will say that boot have brought me great joy. My gf finally stopped dropping hints about these things and also complaining about her wet feet. In addition I got some sweet loving for an entire week. After doing some math, it's actually a pretty good return on the investment considering my alternatives.

These Huntress boots rock. Here's my story...hope it helps someone else out. When I wanted to purchase a cute pair of green Hunters I immediately went and ordered the Hunter Adjustable for bigger calves. I'm 5'3 and weigh 165. I normally wear a 7 1/2 in shoes but almost always take an 8 in heels. In Uggs I wear a 7 but in the Ugg Coquette slippers I took a 6. So sizes vary I guess...I have an hourglass shape and carry the weight well (I was 150 before I had a baby, still working on those other few pounds!). Anyway - even when I weighed 135 (about 10 years ago) I still had athletic shapely calves. So I went for the adjustable buckle thinking it would work best. I ordered a size 8 in adjustable. Yuk! Those boots were ridiculously huge in the calf with a big flappy buckle contraption at the back of your calf. If you want to wear the fold over hunter socks with those boots, forget about it. It looks ridiculous. Also, the flappy thingy in the back shows the white interior of the calf flap so it just looks sloppy. So even if I ordered a 7 in those I wouldn't like that back buckle thing. Plus those boots hit me right around the lower to middle kneecap...looked sloppy. So then I thought maybe the regular Hunters will fit my calves after all - I then ordered the regular Hunters in green in a size 7 and big disappointment - I had to peel them off my calves...too tight! Yowza. So they weren't going to work. Even though they fit in the foot area. Once last resort was to try these Huntress and I hesitated because of the way they look in the pictures...they look like a goofy looking distortion of the regular Hunter with this weird curvy outty calf. I was not going to like these boots. Well, guess what...I love them! I do. They look fantastic on the leg. They look exactly like regular Hunters except you are the only one who knows they are the Huntress because you have like a finger's worth of wiggle room in the calf now. Thank God. This is it. These are the boots. Now - that said...I have them here in a 7. They are roomy for sure! I'm probably going to keep these 7s but I just have to go and order the 6 to try them on and make sure I have the best fit. They also hit at a very attractive point in the leg...at least two inches below the knee. Very nice. And, get this, there is no weird ankle thing going on that I have read other reviewers mention. I was nervous that the ankles on these boots would be too big or look weird. That happened to me once with a pair of Anne Klein boots the ankles looks gigantic and had to send those back...but these boots...they look terrific. Trust me. I'm picky. Give them a try - you've got nothing to lose!

These are the boots I have always wanted! I own a pair of traditional Hunter wellies, which live with my in-laws in the UK, and have been wanting a pair to have at home in Michigan. I was always a little put off by how difficult the boots were to wear over my usual jeans, so finding the Huntress with the woman-shaped calf was a dream come true! An added bonus is that these boots have a nice spring in the sole, they are very comfortable to wear for extended use when need be. I am thrilled; they are just like my first pair but (sorry old boots) even better! I typically wear a 9.5 but found the 10 was more room than I needed; the 9 is perfect for me.

I am thin but I have thick legs. I wear size 6 shoes, and the shaft of boots are always proportional to the the size. So in my case that is just a bit too tight and if I want to fit jeans in the boots, it is just uncomfortable. So when I saw these boots I thought they were going to somehow look different from the regular hunter boots, but I went for them and love them! I love that I have a solid extra inch at the calf. They play an optical illusion and make my legs look skinnier with all the extra room. If I was anybody else, unless I had chicken legs (which I love), I would get these boots over the regular boots because I love the extra space. I do not think they flap around or hurt your shins like other people have said. I am also excited to get the liner so I wear them as winter boots. They are black, classic and have a reputation for wearing well. I am going to have these for years. They are really worth the investment!

Love these! I ordered the original Hunters and they were too fitted to my calves, so I returned them for these. These are perfect...I love that I can tuck my jeans in them! I read where some people said the ankle part seemed big or sloppy, and yes, it kind of is, but most rainboots are that way if you have tried many on. It did seem like they ran just a bit larger than the original style and I almost opted for a smaller size, but decided I could wear thick socks if it ended up bothering me that much. I like that my feet have room to breathe. My one and only issue with these (besides the fact that they are pricey) is that they don't come in more colors for this style. I went with these because I love the classic look and wasn't interested in the crazy prints that the other brands have, but I really wanted the gray color that the originals are available in...I opted for navy since they didn't have the gray. I am very happy with my purchase and with Zappos customer service!

These are beautiful, well constructed rain boots, but they were much too tall and too wide in the calves for me. I am a 5' tall adult woman and I usually wear a 6, sometimes a 5½. These boots run a full size bigger than indicated, so I ordered the size 5. Wearing sport socks, the foot area was comfortable, not too snug and with room to wiggle my toes. However, the calf area was much too big, even with jeans tucked in. My bare calves measure 14½ at their widest. When I walked around, the shaft of the boots would literally "slap, slap, slap" my shin and calves! I think that if I used these with the cold weather welly socks, these boots would be OK, but I live in California and while it rains, it does not get that cold. Sport socks suffice for me. Another fit issue is the height of the shaft. I am 5' even, so the boot's shaft poked the back of my knees very uncomfortably when I went up the stairs. As a result, I had to return these. I ordered the size 3 kid's version (woman's 5 equivalent) and those fit perfectly! The kid's version has reflective tape on the back but that is OK with me since I figure that it keeps me safer when I am walking the dogs.

Love these boots! I received the green color as a gift, and they make me look forward to rainy days. They look cute with skinny jeans and skirts, and I have no problem with the fit. They have plenty of room around the calves (I have fairly athletic legs). I was afraid they wouldn't be as stylish as the normal hunters, but they totally are, and I've gotten tons of compliments.

I pretty much read every review I could find on both this original back adjustable Hunter boot and the Huntress trying to decide between the two. I am 5'1" and my calf measures 16.5" so I knew it would be iffy for both of them. I ordered 4 pairs (2 different sizes) of each the Huntress and Original - I'm keeping the size up in the Huntress - plenty of room and a much better height for a short girl (original hit my knee). Also the original wasn't built for short legs - the part that widens was too high up for my leg, I needed it about 3 inches below where it started to fan out to fit in them (hello cankles). Width was great in both but the Huntress was the clear winner. I just wish people put all their measurements in when writing reviews! I hope this helps someone else.

It's raining today and I cannot wait to wear my new rain boots! These boots really are great - fit my calf perfectly and look sharp, like all the other Hunter boots. I chose the green color because I thought they would prove to be more flexible with my wardrobe, and so far I haven't been disappointed! If you have larger calves like me and need at least a 16 inch circumference then I recommend these boots to you. Also after reading reviews I opted for a size 8 vs my usual 9 because they do run large. Even the 8 is roomy but that's good because it leaves room for thicker socks in the winter!

I have large calves and always have a hard time finding boots that fit. I really wanted the Original hunters to fit, but they didn't. :( When I saw these, made for wider calves, I was so excited! I read they ran a size bigger so I bought them in a size 8 (I normally wear a size 9). The fit was perfect! The big test was jeans, would my jeans fit in the boot? Yes! These boots are about 1.5 inches shorter than the original tall but it's still a nice tall boot. They look amazing with leggings and what I really love is that they bend, they are comfy, the sole is cushioned - everything my Kamik "Christina" boots were not. I bought the Kamik because they came in a large calve, but the rubber is so stiff, there is no support inside, totally flat and the sole is so hard. When I take the dog for long walks my feet/legs hurt. The rubber didn't bend and it was so annoying. I read a few reviews where ppl said the ankle was large and looked funny.. I guess as you are walking and the rubber bends, it could look like that, but in all honesty, all rain boots do that, they are rubber! I didn't find them any different in the ankle than other hunters I tried on (even if I couldn't get them all the way up)or any different than Kamik rain boots. So if you want a comfy, cute rain boot that fits large calves buy the Huntress you will not be disappointed!

I love my boots! If you have a wide calf you need to buy the Huntress not the Original. I have a 15 inch calf, and the Original was very snug. I returned them (super easy!) and got the Huntress, and they fit beautifully!

I thought I wouldn't be able to wear Hunters because of my muscular calves but then I found these! I'm 5'9", and have 16" muscular calves. While I'd like them even more if these boots were an inch or two taller, I'm just happy they fit over my calves and are comfortable to wear. I can tucks in my jeans and while there isn't any room to spare at the top, they fit comfortably. I have skinny ankles and, yes, these boots are overly roomy at the ankles, but not uncomfortably so. Again, I'm just thrilled to find tall rain boots that fit over my calves! I normally wear size 10 shoes, occasionally 9.5 and I went with 9 for these which is perfect.

These are really great boots! First I ordered the originals, but were tight around my calves (I definitely wasn't able to tuck in my pants.) I returned them for the huntress and what a difference. Pants fit nicely in, but they are not way too wide either. The sole is comfortable and the little heel actually provides some cushion. Yes, they are pricey.. but worth it. The only negative is the sock liners are made to fit the original.. not the huntress. I wish Hunter would make a sock liner to fit the huntress wide calf boot (hint, hint!)

I got these in black - they were true to size. After 8 months or so the buckle rusted and a side wore through to a hole, Zappos credited me the cost! Fantastic. The boots could use a gel insert because they hurt after standing 10 hours a day on concrete, but otherwise I prefer them over the Hunter originals. Also, don't order up in size! I made that mistake trying to replace these with the pink ones and they were huge.

I know I'm supposed to be writing a review about my Hunter Boots, but first just let me tell you how in love I am with Zappos! They are the best place to buy anything online! The customer service is betting than any customer service I have ever encountered including face to face in stores. My boots shipped perfectly and fit well! I've been looking for boots with a wider calf so I can stuff my pants over thick socks, and these worked out great! Mine were a tad big in the foot but once I put thick socks and Dr. Scholls in, they were perfect!

I bought the Huntress for my semester abroad in Scotland, and they more than paid for themselves! As someone who has 16" wide calves, I had a hard time finding rainboots that would fit, but these were perfect! I even bought the fleece liners to go with them for cold winter days. All around, a great product with high quality and durability. I would recommend purchasing half a size smaller than your normal size. You will not regret buying these!

I love these boots. They are very comfortable and the Huntress style gives you extra leg room without looking bad. The sizing is weird; I am typically a 9 or 9.5 but I needed an 8 for this style. These are totally worth the money and feel like the best of quality, so I will definitely get my money's worth.

Love these boots! Nice for rain/snowy days. I tried the original Hunter boots and these are much better to tuck your jeans or pants inside. Highly recommend. Looks fashionable!

They came exactly as described. I love the boots so much and it is great having boots wide enough to fit my calves. I have worn them for many hours at a time and they are pretty comfortable. One flaw would have to be the buckles on the side -- if you cross your legs when sitting it gets really uncomfortable. Otherwise they are great! Also order down a size!

I am so glad I ordered the Hunter Huntress. I have athletic muscular caves and the other Hunter boots were all too tight. I normally wear a 7, but ordered a 6 and they are still a little big. These fit great with room to spare! And as always, Zappos has the best customer service!

I love these boots. They keep my feet dry, and are big enough around the calf for me. After looking at the other reviews, I ordered half a size down. I usually wear 9 1/2; I ordered a 9, and they're great. They do have a strong rubber smell to them for a bit though.

Great boots! If you are deciding between 2 sizes, I would suggest to go to the smaller size - they are very true to size - ample width too so you can wear warm, thick wool socks! I have muscular calves yet I can wear these over my jeans and stay dry! These boots are worth the price!

Love, love, love! These hunter boots are fantastic! I have athletic calves, and this version of boots fit perfectly, even over jeans. I couldn't be more thrilled. I also like that these boots actually fit my feet. Most rain boots I've tried leave my feet sloshing around inside. Oh, and I heart Zappos.com!

I had been looking for a traditional wellington that I could wear with thick socks to work in the yard. This fills the bill. Comfortable, goes to just below my knees for good splash coverage and has a generous calf for tucking in trousers. Great boot!
