I have a medium-wide forefoot and a medium-narrow heel, and these shoes fit perfectly. Zappos' product information says the shoe is narrow, but I think it's really just a combination last (wider in front, narrower in the heel). I just received Naot Sea, also from the Shell Collection, and the two shoes feel the same to me in width and length, although Zappos claims Sea is medium-to-wide. Naot says all shoes from the same collection should fit the same way, and that seems to be the case for me.As far as sizing, 40 was perfect - I wear a 9 in most shoes (9.5 in some Keen and Merrell, 8 in Aravon dress shoes). The removable footbed is a must for me, since I wear orthotics for a sesamoid issue (ball of foot). That being said, I can't comment on the innersole, but the general construction of the shoe lends itself to good lateral support. Coast is cute and gives some height. However, it's more of a platform-style, giving a bit of height to the forefoot as well, so it doesn't add pressure to the ball of your foot by putting your foot at an angle. I've had Naot Coast for about 6 months, is my favorite work shoe!

I love these cool maryjanes! I needed a pair of versatile shoes for a few weeks in northern Europe. I needed them to look cute with several different outfits, and to keep me slightly above mud/puddle/street level, and to hold up and stay comfortable through urban and rural adventures, weather, and general abuse. These Naots turned out to be perfect. I was skeptical at first because of the high price (not to mention the velcro). I wore them every day for almost a month, through rain, heat and cold, socks and sockless, seaside, mountain wilderness, etc. My only complaint is that they fill up with little rocks when I'm walking on gravel or loose dirt, but that may be true of any maryjane. These shoes were fine for everything from hiking to semi-dressy dinners. They were comfortable from the get-go, with no break-in time. They held up fine through lots of abuse, with only a few toe scuffs to show for it. One note about size. I'm usually a size 7, but in my other Naots (Triad sandals) size 7/38 was way too small, and 8/39 was perfect. However, in these Naot Coasts, size 7/38 is perfect. So I'd say they run true to size or slightly large.

I have at least 10 pairs of Naot shoes (even more sandals) and these are the most comfortable to me. I wish they made them in every color!

These have been my primary winter shoes for over seven years and they are still my favorite pair! I buy other shoes, and always come back to these for comfort and style. The cork footbed is amazing -- keeps the back from getting fatigued. They occasionally get squeaky, and I simply lift out the cork footbed and add a generous amount of baby powder (probably about once a year). They are only showing slight wear, and I'm debating getting another pair in red!

I find that the only shoes I find to be comfortable for me are Naots. I'm recovering from a "Jones Break" of the fifth metatarsal in my left foot, and finding comfortable shoes is a real challenge. These have a rather stiff leather upper, so will take some breaking in. I wish the leather was bait more supple. In other brands, I wear a wide width, but the medium width in Naot is perfect.

These are comfortable and stable. They are really good shoes that look pretty. I am on my feet most of the day, and these feel fine. With my high instep, these are a bit tight along the top some days, but soften up quickly and do not pinch or feel tight after that. The heel seemed a bit wide, so I put pads in the back so they would not move or rub, and that worked fine.

Loved the shoe, but the size 37 was too small and the 38 too large. Had to return both.

This is my second pair of Naot shoes, and so far I think they are great for standing, but not as great for walking. This pair fits really well and the footbed is marvelously comfortable. The only problem is that the back of the heel sits high on me and continues to rub the skin on the back of my heels raw if I walk in them over the course of a day. This is after several wears, so I'm not sure what more I could do to break in the heel. If you are not sensitive to this problem in general (I can't wear shoes without socks for the same reason), then you might have better luck with these.

Super comfortable. Wide toe box and thick soles keep my feet feeling good no matter how far I walk. My 4th pair of NAOT's. 3 out of 4 have been outstanding.

I usually wear a 10N shoe and have tried this shoe in both a 40 ad 41. The 41 was way too big and wide and the 40 felt like a 9 1/2. They do run narrow in the heel and would have been perfect if Naot made 1/2 sizes. The red color looks very different from the photo and is darker, more neutral and very pretty. The shoe is very comfy and supportive with a boxy toebed and would have been a great travel shoe for walking on dirty, uneven streets and cobblestones. Naot sizing seems very inconsistent in length and how the sizing is described is not always accurate. This style is clunky for a slender person with long feet but still kind of cute. I've had good luck with Naot sandals on my narrow foot but the closed shoes all run too wide. In the past several weeks I've tried several different styles, all too wide, so guess it's time to give up!

These are very comfortable. I needed a full size bigger. They have a different look. They are bulky, giving room for bunions, yet they are still pretty.

These are very nice looking shoes. I wear orthotics and these do not look like old people shoes. They are very comfortable, but slip a little. Please offer more of this style.

I am on my feet all day so I need shoes that are going to be comfortable and also have a good arch support. These shoes are great and after 10 hours of walking in a moving aircraft and constantly readjusting my feet to compensate for the changes in altitude, my feet felt great and did not hurt at all.

Naot has always been one of my favorite shoes for 12+ hour work days on concrete floors. My feet are rather flat and my ankles are scrawny, so I have specific needs from a shoe. This pair did not disappoint me. They fit perfectly, don't slip on my ankle, and don't let me pronate either. The footbed is firm yet forgiving on hard floors, and my supported ligaments feel better at the end of a long day in these than any tennis shoe out there. I had a fluke though, with a tear in the leather near the stitch on the inside next to the strap. I called Zappos and they immediately replaced the shoes, no questions asked, and although I had originally ordered black, I went with the red because it was the only one available. I kind of like the idea of red shoes, so maybe it was meant to be! Great customer service yet again Zappos! I'm a customer for life!

Great shoe but I wear a 5.5 and the 36 was too big (which is supposed to fit a size 5 to 5.5)! I did like the wide toe box since I have wider than normal width so no worries about pinching. When I get them in the smaller size I should better be able to tell but the short distance I walked around the house in them felt very comfortable. I'm looking for comfy shoes to wear in Ireland this fall. They are wider than a M that's for sure so not recommended for a narrow foot, more for a wide foot like mine.

It's a beautiful shoe- lovely versatile color. Sadly I'm a 4m & it feels like a 4.5. Why?!

Very comfortable supportive shoe. I have a narrow heel and these shoe are fitted in the heel, yet roomy in the toe box which I love. Very comfortable to run around town in and for Christmas, they were great in our home which is a quad-level and I was constantly running up and down stairs. Both my Mother and Sister see specialists for their feet, so I have avoided that by buying shoes like these from Naot.

I love these shoes! Having to wear orthotics for the past 2 years, I have been having a hard time finding shoes that aren't "old lady shoes" (even tho' I'm 68 I hate "old lady shoes". Now that I have discovered Naots I feel like I can have stylish shoes and be comfortable at the same time. This shoe is nice and easy to put on and I feel feminine in them too! The service Zappos provides is top notch. I can't say enough about their superb customer service!

I bought these shoes for a recent trip about 5 days ahead of departure. I wore them around the house at brief intervals. On my trip to Quebec with uneven cobblestone streets they performed beautifully from the start to finish! Zappos was great, too!

I was a little worried about spending so much on one pair of shoes. It took about a week to break them in but now their perfect...like butter. I love these shoes, especially since I had plantar fasciitis and nerve problems in my lower legs and feet for two years. I wanted to wear something to work in besides my trusty Asics. I stand all day. These shoes have really come through. Great summer shoes with my capris!

This was my first non-Keen purchase in over a year, but I needed something without the big black rubber on the toe box of the Keen (it's just not very professional looking). These shoes fit the bill-- comfy and supportive, but a bit dressier. Leather is nice and the little silver piece dresses it up a notch more. I have already ordered more Naot shoes. As always, Zappos shipping was fast. I'm very happy with these shoes and Zappos.

I commend Zappos on it's excellent service. I ordered the Coast Naot in a size 7. The size was about a half size larger than a true 7. I returned them and ordered a size 6 1/2. Before I even returned the 7's Zappos sent me the size 6 1/2. The Coast Naot does run a half size larger. I recommend going down a half size. The shoe is extremely comfortable from the start. If you are on your feet all day, then this is the shoe for you.

Oh my gosh, I love these shoes. I am just now wearing them for the first time, in the house of course, to be sure they were a good fit. They are so cute,I think and very comfortable. Wow! This was my third try for a perfect shoe. Thank you. They were a little more money but oh well. By the way, I have never written a review till now.

I really love these shoes! They are one of my most comfortable pair of shoes I own now and that means a lot! The leather is soft and there is absolutely no break in at all. As an added bonus they are adorable on my feet. They are fun to wear with jeans and cute socks. I think I will be trying some of the other Naot shoes soon. Keep up the great service Zappos. You are the best!

Very solid shoe. Medium width is true to size, I wear a 40. I like the heel back, it works to keep the shoe snug and doesn't rub or intrude on the heel. I cycle so my feet muscles are sensitive to shoe issues. The velcro strap is handy and I would buy another with this type of attachment. Well crafted leather doesn’t show smudges or scuffs. I work in a castle with 4 flights of stairs to my office. I find these shoes aid me in the climb, and the walk abouts I do during the day. Surprisingly I would rather stand than sit when I have a chance when wearing these shoes.
