Personally, I can tell absolutely no difference in the feel of these insoles from before to after the heating process. I tried the process twice. I have fairly high arches but the arch of the insole feels too hard, too high and too far back toward the heel. Yes, I ordered correct size and made sure the length was right for the shoe. I have since tried two other brands of heat moldable insoles with much better results. Montrail's Enduro-Soles are good but are only comfortable for me in a well cushioned shoe like a running shoe. They do elevate the heel a bit so they may not work well in lower ankle cut styles. (works well in my Asics Gel Aztec). The other insole I've just started using is the Sofsole Brand, which actually look very similar to these Sole insoles. The heating and break-in process produces a better result in my opinion and they have a slightly softer, less rigid feel to them. The heel is not a elevated as the Montrails but the forefoot has slightly less lateral flex, which is better for my plantar-fasciitis symptoms. Not trying to steer anyone away from the Sole insoles but this is just my experience. Your results may certainly vary. Good luck.

These inserts are very good. I have Plantar Fasciitis and these inserts really help me. They give excellent arch support. Because I have such high arches I have not had to heat them to fit my foot. They are good for me out of the box. I can not comment on how they will fit you if you need to heat them. I have maybe 8 +/- pairs of this insert. I also have 4 or 5 pairs of the Softec Ultra insert. It's thicker and works well in heavy boots. All of the Sole inserts have lasted years with minimal degradation. Be sure that what you buy has a removable insert that can be replaced.

I have purchased five pair to supplement my custom orthotics required by my bunion, stress fracture and hammer toes. I use them in my combat boots, everyday wear, and athletic footwear.
I see no difference in quality or performance between these, and professionally fitted custom orthotics - at a fraction of the cost. I'd recommend these if you are prescribed orthotic inserts and have to pay out of pocket.

I first found these arch supports when I was in the army and they almost instantly relieved me of all my knee and lower back pain. Having flat feet I didn't put them in the oven to mold them I just wore them as they came and they work wonders for your feet.

I just finished hiking 2800 miles on 2 pairs of these insoles on the Continental Divide Trail. They're by far the best arch-support insoles I've tried.

I have been using Sole insoles for five years. Awesome insoles. A very reasonable insole for running shoes. Just heat and run. Your feet will thank you from the first time you wear them. Nothing else on the market compares to the Sole insole.

This is my third pair of Sole insoles. I have worn them in my loafers and in my light hiking shoes, but where they have made the biggest difference is in my running shoes.
I have a higher arch. The stock insoles in running shoes are just not high enough, and they are also really soft and provide no real arch support.

I have been using Powerstep by Pinnacle Insoles for a few years, these were so hard and hurt my feet, no cushion at all! I will stick with the powerstep and highly recommend those if you like a cushioned insole. These hurt!

These insoles don\'t quite work for my feet, because the arch support is too far back (too close to the heel). I also feel my feet get tired after a 10-12 miles hike, perhaps I need more cushioning. No need to cut them to fit my shoe, they were just the right size. Process of molding insoles was very easy and simple.

These are amazing. I do not cast to custom insoles, so these have met all my running needs!

Replaced custom orthotics for me. Been using them for years. The questions below do not apply to insoles.

I keep a pair of these in my gym shoes, while my other everyday sneakers, I do not. The stability in my knees with the Sole insoles is noticeable - my legs and feet don't tire as they do without the insoles. I've tried other insoles, these get the job done.

I was skeptical at first, but the moment I put my inserts in my shoes really was amazing. The comfort and fit is wonderful. I will be purchasing another pair.

These provide great arch support, and are a little thinner than the Softec Ultras. I purchase these to help with my shin splints. Since they are thinner they don't have quite as much cushion, but they fit much better in lower volume running shoes.

I have Achilles tendinitis and the doctor recommended these. I love them. They eliminated my heel pain by at least 50%. I wish I had known about these earlier!

These are the fourth pair that I have bought. As always they are comfortable right out of the package. And, they are extremely durable, lasting two years or more in my work boots. I considered all the others listed, but I thought "Why change?" I am very satisfied!

Sole Softec are the best orthotics that I have ever used. After heating them for a few minutes you put them into your shoes and stand still for a minute or two. This causes the Sole Softec orthotic to conform perfectly to your footbed.

I bought these to put in my ski boots - most of them come with thin, flat, dreadful insoles. They achieved all the goals I was hoping for: better heel support (cupping), better arch support (I over-pronate), and it lifted the heel half an inch or so. The last part is especially useful if your ski boots are tight, as they pull the whole foot backwards and give more room to the toes in the front. I did follow the instructions and "baked" these a few minutes in the oven, but I cannot say if it had any difference. All in all, I liked these better than the Superfeet, with better arch support and the ability for a bit of heat custom molding.

Amazing inserts! Would you believe Zappos.com and these inserts in particular were recommended by my podiatrist! The larger size was purchased for my tennis shoes; now I'm going to purchase a smaller pair for my dress shoes. The process used to shape them to your feet is amazing. Well worth the money!

I bought these for my son years ago and he swears by them. He is a long distance runner and they make a huge difference. He would never use the inserts that come in running shoes; these give much more support and form to the foot bed.
