Good looks and comfort, low quality leather. Although they look good and feel comfortable, I can't praise the durability of these boots. I wore them almost daily since getting them three months ago, and by the time I got around to conditioning the leather after a month and a half of wear, it was already cracking across the arch. Now (after three months) there is a serious crack that leaks, and the leather has continued to wear in other places. Never have I had a pair of leather shoes deteriorate this quickly, and I have worn leather shoes through Illinois winters for 19 years. Perhaps they would have lasted better had I treated them weekly from the start, but that is unreasonable.

I'll start with the only negative; these boots take a bit to put on because they are so tall. You'll have to undo like half the laces to get 'em on and off. Other than that, these are amazing boots. People say Dr Martens are hard to break in, but I wore these all day as soon as I got them and had no discomfort. They're comfortable as anything and just look absolutely fantastic! These were my first pair of Dr Martens. Certainly won't be the last time I buy from them!

I bought these for motorcycling; the tallness of them offers a lot of protection. The only drawback is the amount of holes; it takes a bit of time to put them on and take them off.

For the skinny people! If you have skinny legs I wouldn't recommend buying these. I've had mine for about 8 months and they've been slowly deforming due to the excess room around my ankle. I'm going to order a more unisex styled boot from Dr. Martens soon to see if that will be any better, but just a warning to those of us that are a little skinnier than most, pay attention to the circumference of the boot too, if they seem a little large when you first try them on don't keep them. I'm going to be buying the 8761 next; hopefully it will be a worthy purchase!

I ordered the model 1914(14 hole) Doc's from Zappo about 10 years ago now. I have always loved and worn Dr. Martens in the past and always will. If you take care of them, they will take care of you! Depending on the weather, climate etc. you live in, you should clean and treat them accordingly. I only use Dr. Martens shoe polish on my docs! It is made for a reason...and the best thing for them. Some may think it is a bit pricey, but it only takes a thin coat of it from the applicator in the container to treat the boot. The container I bought at the same time as this pair of docs still has some left in it from all that use! If you use the wrong type of polish on Dr. Martens they WILL crack all the way through them within days of use. Also, if you leave too much of the polish on them, especially on the crease line or pivot area where they bent when you walk; it will gather dirt/dust and promote deterioration as well. Remember, wipe them clean with water and towel then a thin coat of Dr. Martens polish, squirl it in and your done. All of my docs have lasted me a minimum of 10-14 years each with daily wear in extreme heat, rain, snow, rugged terrain or just casually walking around. I have high arches and they are even fine without any inserts in them for me regardless of the activities I do. I am still wearing the Dr. Martens I bought from this sight 10 years ago! I came back hoping Zappos was still around to order a new pair. The boots aren't cracked or anything, it's because the soles have worn off traction from use on this pair. I seen someone mentioned about having to unlace half the boot to take them off etc. I just undo the top 4 and loosen the rest on down. That has always worked on my 14 holes. Bottom line, take care of the boot and it will last you a long time and take care of you. 5-10 minutes a week or every two isn't too much time to spend on quality and life of a shoe in my opinion. P.S. Never get your docs polished at an airport etc.! even, if the person says they know what docs need etc. I made that mistake once! Lost a good pair to cracks within two weeks after that. They used the wrong cream polish/conditioner!

They are Doc Martens - is there more to say? Well yes - the 17 hole style does require a break in period (i.e. don't plan on going hiking the day after buying them). I wasn't overly fond of the edge color - but a little black edge trim fixed that right up. Once broken in these are great boots, always attracting attention, rugged, stylish - AND comfortable.

Great boots! normally take a 10 1\/2 but the 10\'s fit just fine. Was a little concerned about size but Zappos makes it easy to do an exchange so took a chance and glad I did.

These are easily the best Docs I've ever purchased. They were exceedingly easy to break in! Also, the boots were brightly polished right out of the box (not mirror finished, but required almost no buffing to become so). I'm used to great quality from Doc Martins, but this time I was beyond impressed.

The Greatest... If you bought these, then you already know. They will last a long time w/ little care. Also, after the break-in, they're like butter...

A little too big, as most reviews say about half a size or so. Annoying to put on/take off, but that's clear from the picture. I would give it a good comfort rating, but I was wearing it with cheap gel insoles, so I don't really know how the shoe in and of itself is. However, with the insoles, they took me all over Vilnius, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Tallinn and Riga with not even one blister.

Nice boots. Definitly require a break in period. These are very tall. If your not sure about the height of them also look at the 1490 they are a little shorter and easier to work with.

My first pair of Dr Martens. I love them

I love these. I have a high arch so I put an insole in them. They are stylish and comfortable and look so adorable wth jeans. They are timeless and amazing quality. Love my Docs!!!

Bought this for my kid for their 17th birthday. Let's just say that I was the favored parent for a while. They look beautiful and are very comfortable. As with most Doc's it's taken a bit of work to soften the leather at the back of the ankle These are excellent shoes for people who have unstable ankles. My kid has Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and finds that both this boot and the 8 eyelet boots provide excellent ankle stability. I too need ankle stability, but prefer the Dr. Martens Telkes Padded Collar Boot as it doesn't come up as high.

These are great boots! I have owned mine for 8 years and they have treated me very well. The leather is a little stiff at first, but proper lacing and tall boot socks will help break these in painlessly. The air-cushioned soles are very comfortable for me, and I have slightly high arches and wide-ish feet. Quality is top-notch for the price. These are my go-to boots in the winter and they have held up to my abuse (I have never polished these and they still look fairly new). They look especially good with rolled up jeans. Highly recommend these!!

This isn't my first pair of Docs so I knew what to expect in terms of fit and comfort. These will take patience breaking in. Be prepared to wear two pairs of socks and use blister pads so the back of your heels don't get torn up. Wear them around the house for the first day and take time to let your feet rest. Also using Wonder Balsam on them before you wear them, it will help soften the leather. In terms of fit, I am a ladies 10. I wear a 10 in pretty much all my shoes. A ladies 10 is a men's 9 and this is a unisex shoe so width is going to be a tad wider than a woman's regular width. I found the sizing to be a little bit big not enough to size down a whole size and with two pairs of socks they fit good. I love Dr martens boots they are so classic. I do feel quality has gone down over the years as well as the price going up but I still buy and wear them. Nothing like doc marten boots.

These are awesome boots the fit right the first time. It is better to wear with thin sock the first time out after you wear them.

I woke up this morning to find that they stold my Dr Martins 1914 14 eye lace boots. The moste co.fortable boots ive ever owned for 10 years. Im so sadened......

These are my favorite shoes. So glad that Doc Martens are back in style. They took a few days to wear in and are very stiff at first. But now they are so comfortable. I've been wearing them every day to work and I'm on my feet all day and haven't had a problem. I bought them a size smaller than I usually wear because they run a little big and they fit perfectly.

Started to fall apart just after breaking them in. Don’t waste your money. The quality has gone way down hill and they’re not worth it any more.
