Great shoe to wear casual with jeans or dressy with a sundress! Extremely comfortable!

Love these shoes! I am a longtime Birkenstock wearer and find that these are fairly true to size, with one exception. Perhaps it's the style, but they do seem to have a slightly narrower fit. I typically need a narrow width but tried the regular width in these and it worked fine. They have a nice streamlined look and are a bit more modern than some of the Birkenstock styles, with the narrower look and the black patent option. I have had no issues with rubbing and the thong strap that some complain about does not bother me at all. I've stood/walked in them for significant periods and done fine. They look great with shorts or a skirt, or under pants for walking to work.

These are my first pair of Birkenstocks an they are fantastic! I have to stop myself from wearing them everyday! I will definitely buy other pairs in the future. The only small issue I had was with the sizing: I wear a women size 10 which is usually a European 41 but they were too big so I bought the size 40 and they fit perfectly!

I purchased these and the Gizeh Birco-flor. This is my first Birkenstock purchase so I am not an aficionado or loyal fan (yet). I really thought I would like these better than the Gizeh because of the ankle strap-- I thought they would be more secure on the foot. I hate sandals that flop and click when you walk. Oddly, this style, once the straps were adjusted, were looser than the Gizeh, and thus less comfortable. The Gizeh in perfectly snug, stays on my foot easily and I barely remember I am wearing them. Also, at least on the pairs I received, the part that is connected to the toe bar is just slightly bigger in this pair and hits a different part of the large toe, and not in a good way. The fact that these are patent leather and the Gizeh Birko-flors are regular leather may make a difference, I have no idea.
The footbed is comfortable and I don't know if they would require a breaking in period for a Birkenstock newbie like me. So far the Gizeh's are awesome right out of the box. These are going back and the Gizeh birko-flors are keepers.
As far as sizing, I wear a true size 9 and the 39s were perfect in both pairs.

The plastic toe piece was not as painful as I tried with a different style. I actually liked these shoe, but alas, they were too large. Returns are so easy with Zappos.

Fantastic! I had the Birks with the long front strap (no ankle strap) earlier and after seven brave years, their footbed started to crack. So I got these bad boys in the teal, and they are great! Much more secure, I'm not afraid they'll fall off if I need to run in them, and I get lots of compliments. The only problem is that the ankle strap is a little tight (what up cankles) but after wearing them for a few weeks the leather relaxed. But the front strap is still a little long and bunches up ever so slightly when I'm walking. Overall though that doesn't really matter. My new Birks are super comfy and versatile, which is why I love them.

You have to break them in! I'm probably the only person who didn't know that, but in case I'm not alone, you have to break them in! For like 6 hours, 30-60 minutes at a time...or else epic awfulness! Also, manually bending the sole helps loosen things up. After they're broken in, you never want to take them off. It's magical. 4 stars because they require research and hard work, but other than that, they're perfect.

When I purchased these shoes, I had to do what others did: I had to take sharp scissors and shape up the top part of the shoe, so that it did not cover my big thumb completely. Once I did it, the shoes have become my go-to shoes. They are cute and comfy, and I wear them everywhere, as long as there's no rain. Since I wear 8.5 US, I bought size 39 and they fit perfectly.

Why I returned: 1) I ordered Titanium which I expected to be a silver color somewhere in the light to medium range. This shoe color, however, had a very green tint to them. It was more like a dark metal with a green hue. 2) Order a full size down! I wear a 10 in tennis shoes and a 9.5 in sandals. I ordered the 9/9.5 size for these shoes. Too big! I will have to order my next pair in 8/8.5. That's how big they run! They're super long. With all that being said, these shoes felt awesome the first time I slid them on. I will be ordering another pair in a different color and size ASAP. I need something with support that I can wear all the time. I just need to find the right color. Also, I will admit that the ankle strap made them look a little chunky on my feet. Not as streamlined as I had envisioned. I think I'll go for the t-strap style without the ankle strap. I've seen a lot of people where those with every style of clothing, and they look really nice.

Very cute in the metallic leather, with lots of nice arch support. But ditto to the reviewers who said the toe thong was placed too far up on the sole -- I could barely reach it! Definitely not wearable for my foot proportions. Sad!

Love them! This is my first pair of Birkenstocks. Yep I see why they are popular. Very comfortable. The shape allows for a comfortable fit around the curves of my feet, no blisters.

These are terrific shoes. I've owned Birkenstocks before but found them the ugly stepsister of my shoe collection, comfortable and comforting but a bit homely. While these aren't Cinderella they're a heck of a lot better. They're comfortable (once broken in) and they're lovely, the toffee color is great with summer brights (if it would just become summer). The backstrap insures I won't drop one while fleeing from the ball. Enjoy!

I can't wait to wear these to work when it gets warmer! The shiny black is professional looking and they are comfortable. The thong will take some getting used to. I am wearing around the house to prepare.

Was so excited to receive this pair of sandals until I put them on. Zappos is so great had them in my feet the day after I ordered them, only to find out that this sandals will not work for me. The top flap covers my pretty summer pedicure, and the toe separator seems rough. Also seem awkward to walk in? So back they go. I'm trying another Birky since the footbed is so comfy! Wish me luck.

This shoe has excellent arch support...that is...if you have an arch. I felt so much discomfort from these shoes. If you have flat feet, do not get these shoes! Great style though, just wish I could wear them comfortably.

I'm a pretty solid 6.5, sometimes even a 7, so I ordered the 37. When it came, the arch support felt like it was in the right place, but the sole was very long. That would have been fine, except for the strap around the back- I don't know what their model was when designing this shoe, but it must have been someone with huge ankles, because the strap hung at least 1.5 inches off the back of my ankle (and I don't think my ankles are all that small). Because of the way the strap is attached, the buckle doesn't really offer much in the way of adjustment. So, I sent them back and tried the 36. These fit better, but the strap still hung about a half inch off my ankle. Because they were so cute, I kept them and took them to a shoe repair shop so that they could shorten the strap. I wore them on my vacation very shortly after buying them, and there was no break-in period necessary. They are very cute and comfortable now that the strap fits the way it should. But after paying so much for the shoes, it shouldn't be necessary to pay to have them adjusted! If Birkenstock would make the strap truly adjustable, these would be perfect.

The foot bed of this shoe was perfect one size down from my original shoe size but the toe strap was strange. It was longer then my big toe. Returned because the look wasn't appealing.

The shoe is bigger than regular shoes and the piece that goes between the toes is hard, stiff plastic and feels very odd. Not comfortable to me. Nice looking shoes, though.

I bought them because of the rave reviews. I was surprised at how un-comfortable they were. The shoe is not bulk like I expected, I wear 10.5 but sized down and I could have actually used my true size, my toes were hitting top of shoe. But a sleek look none the less. Besides the fit, the foot bed was completely hard and appeared to be cheap, especially the sole. For the price I expected a little more weight and sturdiness to the shoe. The arch support was good but, that type of support was starting to hurt. I couldn't see me standing in those all day. Some people said they went hiking???? Overall not for me. It's a shame they looked cute on

The Cairo has great comfort and support and is cuter on than most Birks; however, the fit is large. I usually wear size 8 1/2 - 9 so I ordered size 39, but they were much too long. The thong piece was at least 1/2 inch past where it should hit on my foot. The Titanium color was also a disappointment - it has a definite greenish cast. I would recommend ordering a size down. The width, however, was perfect for my narrow foot, so I will probably try a smaller size in a different color.

These sandals look great, but are not comfortable at all! The base is the usual Birkenstock - super comfy. The saddle part is super stiff and not flexible. Ouch!

I wanted to like these, I really did, but like other reviewers, I found that stiff toe divider to be too painful, even for just a few minutes of walking around the house. I will say, however, that I ordinarily wear a size 38 in Birkies & found the size 38 in the Kairo to be true to size--not too big as others have found them.
