I recently spent two weeks traveling through some US national parks (Capitol Reef, Bryce, Canyonlands, Arches, Zion) where I usually hiked for 3-4 hours each day on various types of terrain (e.g., solid bare hillside rock, broken large and small rocks on steep trails, slippery gravel, soft deep sand). My new Keen hiking shoes worked very well, giving me excellent traction in all conditions and were very comfortable on my feet the whole time, especially appreciated because the new shoes were barely broken in when I started these hikes. I did not encounter any wet conditions during my hikes, but suspect these shoes will perform very well there too. The shoes cleaned up easily after the hikes and seem tough enough that I suspect they will last a very long time. I am very pleased with my purchase.

The new version of the shoe (with four eyelets versus five) does not fit as well as the original. The toe and instep are is still too loose when the ankle area is uncomfortably tight. In this case "form does not follow function." It appears that outdoor fashion and reduced manufacturing costs (with a $40 price increase) won out over a time-tested design.

I had purchased a pair of boots from Keen that were perfect. The right width, arch support, perfect. The shoes however are so uncomfortable, I'm on the verge of returning them.

Review for Zappos VIP Points(What's this?)
Runs SmallRuns Large
Runs NarrowRuns Wide
Poor SupportGreat Support
The Zappos site states explicitly "These boots tend to run small. When ordering, please select a half size larger than your normal street size." My finding is that this is NOT true. I am normally a 8.5 mens. My left foot measures closer to 8.0, but the right foot is exactly 8.5 thus I usually order 8.5. Because Zappos said to order 1/2 size up I ordered a 9.0, but wow, that is way too large. Keens in general do run wide (for me anyway). I dig these shoes, especially all the nice space in the toe box. They are well build and look great. They are decently heavy though if you are only used to running shoes this might shock you at how heavy they feel.

Keen served me well on may AT thru hike in 2015 and I have wrapped my feet in nothing else since. Once I dialed in on my size I can order any Keen that size and the fit is always spot on!

When walking there is a rubber on rubber sound coming from the arch area and heel area. Not had this before., I walk on a trail where its quiet and it can be frustrating. Otherwise I always love Brooks!

I'm writing this review 14 months into owning them. I like the style and comfortability of these shoes. The upper is made very well and I have not had an issue with it on either shoe. The insole is starting to deteriorate which I can expect from this point in time and is easily replaceable. However, the outer soles on the bottom of each shoe have started to separate from the sides and heel. One of the heels' outer sole is completely detached and is not wearable anymore. I would expect a better lifespan, at least 3 years, for this price point. I wear this shoe 4 days a week for at least 13 hours 70% on tile floor 30% on pavement just walking and sitting in. I think this is a manufacturing defect, (possibly with the type of glue or lack of glue), as others have stated in their reviews. Fix the soles and this would be 5-star shoe easily!

Good quality shoes. They seem to be a little bit on the narrow side even with ordering them in wide.
I recommend them but wish they were just a bit cheaper.

I've been in Keen hiking boots and shoes for 8 years. My only complaint is the sole does not stay attached to the shoe. The multi-layered rubber (the black part) breaks free from the base layer.
Also, 1/2 sizes all the way up would be nice. 12 is too small, 13 is too big. The shoe runs wide. These shoes are 2 years old; soles started separating soon after the one-year mark. I have reglued and separated again.
