This is my son’s 3rd pair of the same shoes. I love it, he loves it. They are true to size, very comfortable and fashionable. The only downside is if your kid wears it for outside activities, the front gets worn out pretty quickly so the shoe starts looking old quite soon. I should have kept it for more mellow days.

Super light. Super nice shoes. Worked perfectly, but not very long lasting. Only lasted half the amount of time before they started giving out. That was a let down. However, I am going to buy them again because I feel the lightness, comfort, and ease of use (my son can actually put these on without any help) are worth it. It's a Mercedes. It may not be as dependable as a Toyota, but it's still better. I'm willing to pay for that luxury.

These are great shoes...one wide velcro strap, washable, lightweight, flexible sole. These are best for kids with wide feet...my 4 yr old takes a 12XW in Stride Rite, but these fit him great. The only issue is the suede trim on this shoe gets very scuffed and worn looking, and that is remedied only with polishing, and not the washing machine. I will look for a shoe in this brand without the suede trim next time.

Look nice but I can't justify paying almost $60 for shoes made in China...being a Japanese company, I'm surprised they are manufactured there.

I would give 5 stars if the fit was comparable across all styles of the same size. This shoe style runs very large. My grandson has been wearing a size 12 in this brand but the Storm style since July. I ordered a size 13 and it is huge. It seems crazy to order the same size he is currently wearing in the same brand, but he likes the style, so I did. I returned the shoes and reordered a 12. Hoping they will arrive quickly. Little kids have a hard time waiting.

This is the brand to buy. They are the best for little boys.

We always exclusively buy Tsukihoshi shoes for both my boys. We have always loved them and thought that they were a great value. These particular ones are not, though. The Velcro strap broke completely off the first day that my son wore them. Zappos graciously sent a replacement pair, which completely fell apart within two weeks.

Too much wiggle room in width. I had to sew extra Velcro on the strap so my son could strap the shoe tight enough. Extremely lightweight and comfy but also felt a little cheap. The bottom tread peeled off and the outsides around the toes are super scuffed and worn looking. Not typical for my son as I usually pass down his shoes because they look new. I wish for the money they held up better appearance wise. I also wish the shoe stated that this is for really wide feet but they lived up to the comfort factor (after I added more velcro). I loved how easily they would bend with his feet (probably why the bottom tread was peeling off). Mixed feelings but I'll probably go back to Stride Rite.

We love Tsukihoshi shoes in general - they are the only sneakers that fit our son's wide feet perfectly! However, we are surprised by the drop in quality in these shoes we noticed this year. We're on the 2nd pair of these particular sneakers (2 different colors) in 3-4 months. When the strap on the first pair broke in 3-months, we thought our son was just really tough on them. The new one (we bought just this month) already has pieces coming off. They still fit great and we can't find anything he likes as much, but we're really disappointed at the drop in quality. These shoes used to last us 6-8 months with heavy use. My son has barely worn them and they're already showing signs of coming apart.
I'd also recommend:
Can't find anything we like as much, in terms of fit for sneakers. Only sandals match the comfort.

Purchased these shoes for my three year old because of the reviews I'd read about comfort and ease of little ones putting them on. They fulfill both of those expectations; little guy loves wearing them and puts them on and removes them from feet all by himself. However, after less than a month of wear, the shoes are starting to fall apart! My little guy is active, but no more so than any other three year old boy. The (orange)strip of rubber that goes across the heel has come off and the fabric of the toe box is showing wear. Am going to try to get these replaced, but if not I'll just buy some superglue for the orange strip in back. At this price, this seems ridiculous!

Looks cheap, no arch support. The shoe looks cheap and feels cheap. It is VERY lightweight to the point that it feels like sub quality materials were used. It also has no arch support and looks somewhat goofy in larger sizes. My son got the blue pair in a size 1 and the blue was brighter than I had imagined and it took a couple of days to get used to. Even after all of this we ended up keeping them because my son liked them and he is picky about shoes. One other thing to mention is that the toe box is a little on the small side.

Keen shoes are great, nice quality, and they last forever.

Both of my boys LOVED these shoes, but both pairs (we got one of each color) had holes in the toes within a couple of weeks. We need waterproof shoes where we live, so needless to say they were expensive disappointments.

This shoe showed it's wear pretty quickly. I've never had a shoe wear out this fast before.

Our last pair of Tsukihoshi shoes lasted almost a year. This pair made it 3 months before they had to be replaced. Really disappointing for the price.

If only they stayed white they would be cute. I was not impressed with the durability of this shoe compared with the price. It is flimsy because of the mesh. I read alot of reviews about washing them, but that didn't clean them. I did a few oxyclean soaks which worked some but the white was still stained. Also, the velcro didn't cross over tight enough for them to stay on securely. Very disappointed.

My son likes this shoe a lot for the comfort and ease of use. However, the first pair wore out, with the bottom falling in less than 3 months. I thought it was because of overuse. We bought a second pair because he liked it so much. Again, in a little more than 2 months the bottom is disintegrating, and the shoe is not worn daily. It seems like there is a quality of construction issue.

We picked out these shoes on Zappos with my son. He liked the style and I approved of the rating. We gave him the first pair in April of 2010. By Early June 2010, the shoes were shredded. There was a hole inside the sole, a hole under the shoe, and the closing strap was ripped. My son is active, he runs around a lot, but he isn't destructive and loved those shoes so much he never threw them or pulled on the strap. I already had a second pair because i had found a good deal so I gave it to him mid June 2010 (so first pair lasted about 2.5 months). We are now on July 21st and the second pair's sole is already showing signs of tear. For the entire time he has had the second pair all he has done is go to school with them where he is inside a classroom for about 3 to 4 hours. How could they already be that damaged? For the same price you can buy Geox that will last and not break down. And of course now the shoe has lost all support and doesn’t hold his feet properly. I wrote to the company and never heard back...never again!

I want to update my review of these shoes. Loved them at first, but after less than 6 months of wear, they have really fallen apart. The stitching came apart on the velcro flap, and the velcro piece actually fell off. I stitched that back on with my sewing machine, but now the stitching is worn off near the toe thus there is a hole at the front of the shoe. Very disappointed in the quality, will not buy again.

Well, there's gotta be one in every crowd. Despite the overwhelming good reviews for this shoe, I am disappointed. First, almost immediately the red stripe on the heel of one shoe popped part way off, leaving me no choice but to pull it off completely. No biggie. But then I noticed the shoes kept slipping off of my son's heels as he walked. Try as I might to tighten them with the one big velcro strap, I couldn't get these shoes to feel snug, and he certainly can't tighten them properly on his own (although the shoe is clearly designed for a child to be able to put on and take off on his own). Then, after the first washing (in accordance with the directions on the manufactures website--something for which these shoes are touted), they seemed to widen such that now when my son runs, he literally runs right out of them. The shoes are light-weight, which seemed great upon purchasing, but now I feel they are almost too light, providing insufficient ankle and arch support for a child running, climbing, etc. Bottom line, for what I paid for these shoes, I am very disappointed. UPDATE (09/13/10): After posting this review in May, in August I was contacted by a Zappos customer service representative who indicated that his Tsukihoshi manufacturer's representative saw my review and was concerned by its content given that the shoes typically get very high marks. The Zappos representative offered to refund the purchase price of the shoes, however, because I hadn't purchased the shoes from Zappos (I only reviewed them there after purchasing them from a local, high-end shoe store), I indicated a refund was not possible/appropriate. He then inquired as to whether it would be permissible to provide my contact information to the manufacturer's representative. I agreed, and was contacted shortly thereafter by e-mail and then by telephone. All I can say is that this is some of the most outstanding customer service I have ever received. The representative was amazing: polite, consistent, reasonable and, bottom line, out to make me a satisfied customer. The shoes are being replaced (we believe, given the exchange of information with the rep., that the shoes may have been originally improperly sized by the store from which they were purchased), and we're going to give them another go. Thanks Zappos, and thanks to my local shoe store for setting the bar so high on service.

Very disappointed! I splurged on two pairs of these shoes for each of my sons since they're supposed to keep their feet cooler in the summer. I haven't noticed their socks any less sweaty after taking them off, and what's more, they look years old after 3 weeks! The color on the toe of the shoe is completely worn off already, and the red rubber strip on the back heal is becoming detached on one of the shoes. I'm going to ask for a refund.

Disappointed - The look, comfort, and ease of wear was fantastic. I thought I found the perfect shoe for my active son. Unfortunately, after less than 1 week of wear, the toe began to wear down. The toe and other areas are made of a synthetic suede-like material and the toe became shiny and bald. I expect more from the price of the shoe. I won't be buying Tsukihoshi Kids unless they change the material, but I will buy from Zappos.

I was very excited to buy these shoes for my 3 yr old, based on the high customer rating and glowing reviews. They looked very nice in person and seem comfortable on wearing them. But they are not at all durable for the price! In just 2 months of wearing them they were coming apart. I have never before gotten a shoe that falls apart so quickly. Poorly made.

Bad, bad quality. It took only 2 months wearing them to school 2-3 times a week and shoes disintegrated. Expensive lesson.

Usually buy Stride Rite or Nike. Gal at the department store talked me into these. Not even 2 months into getting the shoe for my 4 year old, the front toe box is unraveling and worn down all the way. I will be returning them. Unfortunately I didn't buy them from Zappos. They’re great.
