I have had two pairs of this boot. The first pair wore very well, even after I lent them to a friend who needed a pair of dressy winter boots for a wedding. So, a couple years later I bought my second pair, but the quality has gone down significantly. The inner lining, made of some kind of microfiber, broke down after one season. It took me till the next winter to actually look inside and see why they’d become so uncomfortable — there were holes in the lining in the toe box, and the lining was rolling up around them, giving me the constant feeling that my socks were bunching up. This was actually ruining my socks, too! I wrote to LC only to alert them to the quality problem and was told they don’t guarantee boots older than six months. I wrote back that I wasn’t asking for anything, just alerting them. I then made the mistake of buying yet another pair of LC boots, this time the Caterina, and the inner lining broke down in those, too, this time within two months of light wear. What a mistake. Yeah, they look great and I get lots of compliments on them. But they’re no good on the inside. LC needs to go back to whatever better lining they were using back around 2008 when I bought my first pair. ALSO, do you know how hard it is to take a photo of the inside of the toe box of a pair of boots? All for nothing.

This is a great cool weather shoe. It is beautiful, soft leather and quality workmanship. It could use a bit more cushioning under the ball of the foot for us older ladies with metatarsal inflammation from too many years of higher heels. I went up half a size in order to wear thicker soaks and to insert a foam foot cushion. The laces in front create a custom and very comfortable fit, and the side zipper makes it a breeze to slip on or off. It is great for airport security lines. It was hard to find this combination, plus water-proof, in another shoe of this quality and price.

This boot seems very good: warm, waterproof, and comfortable. Two warnings, however. The leather is supple and stretches easily, particularly around the ankle, and the shoe squeaks persistently on linoleum floors and those typical in office buildings. I got them because I needed good winter shoes, and with the laces tightened all the way, they were just narrow enough for my extremely small ankle and still quite spacious and comfortable in the toes. However, within two days, they stretched so much in the ankle that my foot started sliding to the front of the boot in an uncomfortable way, smashing my toes with every step. If you have normal-sized ankles, I think this would not be a problem.

Very posh styling, and I love the key facts that it's waterproof (not up the shaft, obviously), you can custom fit with the laces and then use the zippers for fast on/off (great for airports), and it's made in Canada. The footbed was too firm for me; however, and there wasn't no arch support for my medium arches at all, so I used an insole. Good thing I ordered a half size up for that; the built-in insole isn't removable.

Even though I'm still in the process of "breaking in" these boots, they fit great. My feet are very sensitive, so I do find them very hard on the feet for long periods of time.

The left boot is defective. The tongue has been attached at an angle, so it veers off to the left inside the boot. I'm kind of old, but I have never seen a shoe or boot with this problem. It's unwearable.

I bought these boots to replace a pair that I bought that really lacked in quality. These have been quite the opposite. They're waterproof and do a great job keeping my feet warm and dry.

I am very happy with these. I have wide, flat, stupid feet that are hard to please and hurt easily; in these boots they are comfortable all day. I was a little skeptical that, being a wider fit, they would look nothing like the picture and have the orthopedic vibe to them, but they do not. They are elegant and fit perfectly. Another reviewer mentioned that they do not have a whole lot of arch support, and I found this to be true - however, the problem was easily fixed with some insoles. I would buy these again in a heartbeat.

I keep looking for stylish shoes and boots that I can comfortably walk a couple of miles in and wear with both pants and skirts. I have neuromas in both feet, so few shoes feel good. I put in my orthotics and an odor-eater (for padding) and walked around my house in these for two days. They feel great and I love the look. I'm keeping them. I usually wear a medium but these are a wide.

Just ordered my second pair. Have had my first pair for almost five years. Dressy enough for work and comfortable - we walk a lot in Manhattan. It's a great boot.

Terrific! I bought my first pair of Palmina boots in 2001, for a trip to England. I just put them in the garbage six years later. They never leaked, they still did not smell, I just wore them out! That is why I just bought another pair! I will buy them again; they are great for walking too, although now I use them for my Motorcycle riding boots.

These are my style and come in WW, so I bought them despite the price. I have very wide feet and would love to find a company that makes really cute boots in my size. I ordered the 8 WW and felt they were a little narrower than I'd like. Right now I am only wearing them in the house because I'm not 100% percent sure I'll keep them. If they were a bit cheaper, I'd just accept the breaking in process and won't even think of returning them. It's a little frustrating, I bought three pairs of shoes at 8 WW (all theoretically EE) and one was so narrow I couldn't get my foot in at all and one was so comfortable that I walked around Manhattan the first day wearing them (Propet's Waverly!), while these fall into the middle. Now I'm really an EEE (but the only shoes you see in that size are horrible), so if you truly measure in the EE range, these might be fine. I also think they could use a little more arch support (I think I have averagely high arches). They look very cute and I like that you can adjust how they fit your ankles because they lace up (they still have a zipper on the side which detracts for the look but makes getting them on and off much easier). I like the heel size. The leather is nice. I would recommend these more for their looks than their comfort though.

A little disappointed but happy - These boots look great and some folks would say feel great. It's true they are comfortable and of high quality but these boots have no arch support what so ever. They are a dress boot and great for that. I would not wear them for sports, long walks or standing for long periods of time because I need more support. All in all I am slightly disappointed but happy with my purchase just the same--if that makes any sense. I am still searching for the perfect boot.

Comfy...want to love them...but - They're too narrow! And I ordered a 6W! These seem to run a little narrow and long. The W does not have a generous amount of space in the toe box. Not at all. Otherwise-- The heel is easy on your feet. The leather upper is adjustable and soft without being floppy. Unless you have feet that tend to be on the narrow side, you should order the Wide. And don’t worry--the wide does NOT look clunky or boat-like. I don’t know why this simple style is so expensive, but for this amount of money you want them to fit!

Love this bootie. I've been looking around for this style for a while. The only other option was the "Carolina" which is suede, but I have a few of black suede booties so I decided to go for good old fashioned leather. Perfect heel height Nice round toe which gives you plenty of space to move around. I've learned with the almond toes they're good too but at the end of a day with a lot of walking they tend to hurt a little on your 3-5 toes. These are quiet when walking due to the sole. The side zipper makes them easy for on and off. Warm and cozy feel. Definately worth the money. La Candienne is worth the money. They will last you a long time. They're pretty true to size. Maybe a tad roomy at the toe, but that's what you need and not enough to size down. Gives you the option to wear a thicker sock.

Yes! Got my winter boots! This boot is sturdy yet elegant looking with fine leather and a slim silhouette. It is supposedly military-inspired but, in my opinion, that influence is well balanced with a feminine and classy look. These boots look great with both pants and a skirt. Also, they work in both casual and more dressy situations - even thought the heel is quite low. As for fit, I have "duck feet" with a narrow heel and broad toe. Even so, I am a reliable 6.5M. This was also the size I first ordered. However, this La Canadienne boot was very long between one half to a full size too long - and quite narrow. I then ordered the 6W - the first time ever that I've bought a W shoe. The 6W is also longer than I would expect but the width is perfect for me. I also have thin calves and had to lace the boot tightly to make it fit properly but it looks good! I am very happy with this purchase! Great service from Zappos as usual!

I love these boots! They run a bit slim, but not too narrow. They're very comfortable for walking and look great with jeans. They are warm, though. Wouldn't want to wear them on a 50 degree day. I don't feel much arch support, but I wear an arch support and it works well in the boot.

La Canadienne Palmina Black - When I bought La Canadienne Palmina in brown, I asked to be notified re: a size 9 black Palmina. Yesterday I got the email at 4 a.m. So glad I was up because I ordered one of only two new ones, and with Zappos free overnight shipping, it arrived early this morning. I still love the fit, the style, the quality of material and workmanship of Palmina. And I still recommend it, and my other La Canadienne boots, highly.

La Canadienne Palmina Brown - This is one great boot. I wear a size 9M and this boot fit perfectly, absolutely perfectly, even with my flat feet. The lace-up provides a comfort fit, and the zipper keeps the fit in place. The leather is a smooth, luxurious chocolate brown. And the on-the-foot look is as good as the fit. I found out about the La Canadienne brand on the Zappos reviews last fall. So glad I did.

I love these boots! This is the most I've ever spent on shoes, but they were a birthday present that I got to pick out. I had a little "sticker shock" for the first couple of days, wondering whether boots could really be worth it. Eek! Well, I still don't know whether I can answer that, but I can tell you I'm very pleased with these boots. They haven't made my feet ache at all, but since they're waterproof they do get a little sweaty inside after awhile. The zipper pulls made jingley noises when I walked, so I replaced them with ribbons on Day 2. They don't seem to get scuffed as easily as some shoes, but they're very wrinkly where they bend in the middle, as you would expect. I usually wear them with straight-legged pants, but have also worn them with dress pants and they'd look good with a long skirt, too. The brown is a nice dark chocolate color, better than the orangey-brown or tan you see more often. I don't have particularly wide feet, but bought a wide shoe just to have plenty of room, which worked out well. If you're OK with the price, you'll be happy with these boots.

Great casual ankle boot - This is what I have been looking for--nice quality leather, lace-tie front, and a bit of a heel. A casual boot which will be great with jeans and cords, but could be worn to work with dressier trousers. The waterproofing and the inside micro fiber lining are a plus, and from other La Canadienne styles I have tried, I know they will be comfortable in cooler weather.

I adore this boot. I’ve put it into my cart and taken it back out at least 6 times. Finally pulled the trigger and they arrived today. And the EE width most assuredly is Not a true EE (cue the sad music). Too long in the toe, even though I ordered my usual size but way too narrow. Back they go.

I love these shoes. Super cute & comfortable. I have very wide feet so I sprayed them with leather stretch & wore 2 pairs of thick socks for a few hours, which softened the leather & made them the perfect fit. My only negative is there's no real arch support or cushioning on the insoles. I'm surprised since they're so expensive but love everything else about them.
