I first tried these boots in my size, and they just didn't fit right (to big/sloppy width, and heel slipped up and down, among other things). I returned them to the amazing Zappos. Then I went down a half size, and they fit like a glove. I love that they are Made in the USA, and put together beautifully. Talk to me in 10+ years, I may still have these boots on my feet. Worth every hard-earned penny.

The absolute best work boot. Unfortunately for Zappos you can resole these boots, so I haven't needed a new pair. I'm on my fourth set of soles. Like the Energizer bunny, these things keep going, and going, and going.

Best Work Boot You Can Buy -
A couple of the other reviewers have this boot described right on the money. I work 10 hour shifts as a police officer and can tell you that after breaking them in, its like wearing some tennis shoes out on patrol. Don't waste your money by buying a more "economical" set of boots to tide you over until you have the funds for a pair of these. Either bite the bullet and buy them or wait until your next paycheck. I did the same thing and thought I had purchased a good pair of boots before I bought these (I won't mention the brand but will say they were "decent" pair of $80 boots that many other officers wear). I recently had to run through a small creek during a footchase so I had to change into another uniform to finish out my shift (which included putting on my old backup pair of $80 boots). The difference was night and day. I had forgotten how much I took my Danner's comfort for granted. They're tough and will stand up to the test of time. There are also several different outsoles to choose from when re-soling your boot. I've switched to a more aggressive Vibram "Sierra" tread and highly recommend it anyone else that will have to re-tread soon. Here's a link to available outsoles. I've seen other outsoles mounted to Danner boots so consider this a partial list. Once again, if you want THE best of the best, you gotta go with these boots. You won't be let down. And as a side note, if it takes you 10 minutes to tie your boots (as stated by one of the other reviewers), you should probably focus less on boots and more on some sit-ups and crunches.

This is by far the BEST uniform boot money can buy. I work 12 hours shifts on a tactical response team and this boot has never failed. The comfort is outstanding; it is like wearing a tennis shoe. The boots are very rugged. They will last for a very long time. Also, the boots are able to be resoled. The best boot you can buy, bar none.

Danner Acadias -
The Danner Acadias are top notch American Made Boots. Danner does carry some imports, but Acadias are the real deal. They are true to size, but may initially seem to be to tight. The reason is these boots are made with premium leather and they must be broken in to mold them to your feet. They are not the loose fitting imports we have come to accept as the norm. These boots are made to give superior foot and ankle support. Buy your regular size and width and wear them around the house you will feel them loosen up after a few days. These boots must be initially laced up tight, especially in the ankle arch area. They will take what is called a "Set" as they break in and will become the most comfortable best fitting boot you have ever owned. If you can swallow the price you will be very impressed with the fit and quality of Danners.

Fit -
This is one of my favorite boots ever. But the only thing that you must order the wider because the toe box is very tight.

Wider than I thought for my narrow feet, but the correct length. A bit tight around the end of my toes, but no big deal. Presses near toes, no big deal again. My heel slips up and down to much in the couple of pairs of Danner boots I have tried. The other reason for return is when I have the boots on, it feels like I have a high heel shoe on, meaning it's like my heel is raised. Very nice anti-microbial (or similar) heel inserts included. I guess I am too used to sneakers. I really wanted these to work. Beautifully made, they unfortunately just don't work for me.

For the money I think these boots fall flat. They look good and feel good, but notice I said good. For this kinda' scratch, they should be great. For the money you can purchase a pair of Matterhorn and get twice the boot and yes they are made in the U.S.A. Would I recommend these boots? Yes, but they are a distant 2nd place or in the words of Ricky Bobby "If you ain't first, you're last".

Overall, this boot was relatively comfortable and fit nicely. The problem I had with it was that it is fully laced all the way up. The neck of the boot is relatively narrow, meaning that you have to loosen the entire lacing to get your foot in, then tighten it again to fasten the boot. The laces that shipped with it could use to be about six inches longer (or maybe my ankle and calf is larger than normal).
If I had ten+ minutes to get my boots on each morning, I wouldn't mind wearing this. But, for my money, I'll go with something either shorter or with quick lace.
