The best shoes on the planet! This shoe is the most uncomfortable shoe for about a week or two. ONCE you have formed it to your feet, it's the most comfortable shoe you will ever have. I work in the medical field, I’m on my feet all day, these can pass for clogs style shoes underneath scrub bottoms, but have the back of the shoe required by OSHA. I HIGHLY recommend this shoe to those people who like COMFORT as well as a nice style. I HATE pointy shoes, or narrow square end shoes. These have a nice rounded toe that FIT and LOOK GOOD around a foot. Look no further. I've had these shoes for over a year now...I'll never buy another brand.

Fit was fine but leather was too stiff and tongue long enough to rub the top of foot and leg. Having to return.

Width doesn't seem to apply to people with high insteps. I hoped that the startup on this shoe would give me instep room. It doesn't. I can't understand why shoe manufacturers don't allow for sizing that addresses instep height. This show looks great for my use, but I can barely get my toes into the opening.

These shoes do not run large. A little wide yes. Ordering down a size will cause the arch support to fall too close to the ball of your foot. Order your regular size and deal with the fact that they don't fit the same way as your athletic or dress shoes. They're not supposed to. Good comfortable shoes that have excellent arch support.

First off, I'm a fan of Birkenstock shoes. But the thickness of the leather on this particular shoe is thinner than I would have expected with no interior lining. The sole with no attached heel is thinner than the my other Birkenstock shoes. It is more like an enclosed sandal.

These are not pretty shoes. Even the narrow is wide. But my feet never ever hurt after wearing them no matter how much walking I do. I wear them to work with dress pants wide legged enough to cover them up for the most part. They aren't my style, but for the comfort I'm willing to compromise. I bought a second pair so I'd have back up.

Too big - These shoes have molded insoles that make them limited to fit. They are about a full size bigger than normal European sizes.

The foot bed felt like the right size, but the upper is too big. I have lots of Birkies and this is the first one I have ever had a fitting problem with.

These are so comfortable. At first they are stiff and a little tight across the arch. I conditioned them with leather honey; a lot of black dye got on my rag, but they softened up and didn't look as ashy as before. The tongue was pressing against the front of my ankle, so i spent 10 minutes bending it up and massaging it, then left it curved up under the strap for a couple hours. The strap was also stiff and squeaky but stopped squeaking after I bent and massaged the straps. These have a lot of toe space. These are my first pair of Birkenstocks. I read about fake birks and wondered, but Zappos is an authorized Birkenstock dealer. So even though the shoes were wrapped in plastic bags and had leather shedding off the straps, and they didn't have the leather symbol stamped on the footbed nor numbers stamped under the buckle, these are still high quality shoes and look genuine. lol.

I have owned several pairs of Birkenstocks over the years, mostly sandals and a pair of Boston clogs - all size 39 regular foot bed. The Boston clogs were suede and really stretched out to sloppy fit. Re. the London shoe, I could barely get my foot into the 39 and purchased size 40. It feels a little loose, I'm breaking in the beautiful leather walking around the house and deciding if they are too big. Otherwise perfect as usual. I plan on wearing with socks...or barefoot.

I needed to go up one size for proper fit. These are comfortable with or without socks. Quality leather and workmanship.

I haven't had any Birks for twenty years. I used to be a Birkenstock sales rep but had worn them before that job. Break them in as you would contact lenses and after thirty days, not only are you 'in', but you're hooked. So glad to be back in them! No hiatus ever again.

I needed a closed back shoe for comfort. This shoe fit the bill perfectly! Very happy with fit, quality, and appearance.

Initially I was a little worried about how tight there were as my feet have flattened out over the years and I have an dropped arch in my left foot. It took a few wears but they stretched out to perfection and the arch support has done amazing things for my foot. Brought the inflammation down and reduced the pain I have in my second toe due to arthritis. Love love love them!

When it comes to practical, comfortable and well-made shoes, over the years since the Sixties I've always had a pair of Birkenstocks at hand. This is my first pair of Londons and I can already predict they will become my "go to" shoes for daily wear. Happy to have them!

I love these shoes! I bought them to wear to work; I’m in healthcare and work shifts that require me to stand on my feet for 12 hours. They are not slip resistant, but the arch support and general feel is excellent.

My flat feet live these! I was having some hip and back pain. I read that when you have flat feet this pain can be caused by improper alignment. These shoes have corrected my problem. I have already purchased another pair in Hunter black with the soft footbed. They do take time to break in but don’t let that dissuade you from buying them. Your feet will thank you.

I live in the Northeast. I recently purchased the London because the cork is protected with leather. I will be able to wear this shoe in all types of fall and winter weather wet weather conditions. I had to purchase a size larger than the size I wear for the clogs. I noticed my heel does rub against the back of both shoe, hopefully with wear the back will soften up to eliminate that issue. I use a shoe horn to put the shoe on without unbuckling the shoe. I prefer the traditional footbed over the soft foot bed.I wish the shoe was more stylish. Overall, I am very happy with the London.

I loved these shoes and they would have worked perfectly if I had not broken my ankle and have screws along the seam line. I have several of this brand shoes and love the slipons now. I had to return these shoes and the customer service people were great. I printed off the shipping label and sealed up the box. UPS came the next day and picked them up. I was credited back for the cost in two days. Thank you! Will continue to use your site to shop for shoes.

Bought these for my fuddy-duddy husband. We're huge Birkenstock fans, and have been for years. We love the clogs, sandals, boots - everything! My husband wanted a pair of backed shoes to wear to work as a teacher that 1. Were going to be extremely comfortable and 2. Would last forever. Based on the long life of our other Birkenstock shoes, these seemed a good choice. Style wise, I think they're pretty cute, but could definitely be perceived as dorky by some - I think that's their charm! He has worn them for a week almost everywhere and just loves them. They stay put, they're comfortable and versatile. A good option especially for the New England fall and winter.

This is my third pair of London clogs. They’re always too narrow across my (pretty fleshy) feet in the beginning, but the leather loosens up and/or the cork compresses, and then they’re the most comfortable shoes on the planet (at least for someone like me who needs lots of arch support). The first pair lasted about 15 years with heavy wear, with multiple re-solings, until the interior of the shoe finally started falling apart. My second pair was in for its annual re-soling and I realized I really needed a third pair so I would never be without one when one was in the shop. Hence this pair.

I finally decided to splurge on these and so far it has been well worth it (I've had them for about a month now). I have weak ankles due to a previous injury and need a decent amount of support for walking. These shoes are good for a number of reasons: * They have a deep arch that supports fallen arches really well. This also reduces strain on the hips and knees. * The cork footbed allows for better traction. I've noticed that shoes with leather or cloth footbeds tend to be a bit slippery, which leads to blisters and also prevents your toes from making the "gripping" motion that Birkenstock footbeds promote. * I've found that the traditional sandal footbed with a toe bar doesn't fit my foot very well, and is uncomfortable to walk in. Since this model does not have a toe bar, it fits my feet shape a lot better. * The wide toe box also allows for more room for toes to move around, which again allows for a natural gripping motion and reduces blisters. * The leather makes more a reasonably breathable close-toed shoe. * I was worried that they would look really ugly and I would never wear them, but they actually look pretty good in their own unique way haha. I've found that they look best paired with neutral-colored or black socks. I'm also hoping to wear them barefoot for the summer months once I break them in more. Some tips: * This shoe really does need time to soften up and become more flexible. I made the mistake of wearing it at first without socks, and got some bloody blisters as a result. Wear it with thick socks at first to break it in. * The fit should be looser than a normal shoe. I followed the Birkenstock sizing chart and found it to be pretty accurate.

So far so good. I'm an art teacher and am on my feet all day. At first when I put them on the shoe seems to rub the front of my ankle I think because the leather is still new and not broken in, but it didn't rub enough to make a blister and didn't bother me throughout the day. My feet feel just fine by the end of a work day and I'm sure will be even even once I've broken in the leather. I'm very happy with this style as I've only worn sandal type birks over the past 28 years and been happy with them.

I gave these Birkenstocks as a gift to my boyfriend to replace his old pair. He loves them but notes that there is a bit of a break-in period because the soles have good arch support and he has flat feet. It takes a while for the soles to conform to his feet and for him to get used to them. Also, they do not have great traction on snow or ice.
