I have searched, and purchased over 30 shoes this year; and it is only March 2016. Spending many hours looking for a shoe with a wide toe box, the ability to loosen the tops, and feel good on the bottoms. I have severe degenerative arthritis on the tops (the rise) of my feet. If a shoe accommodates that, these shoes will still squish my pinky toe causing it to go completely numb which became very painful after 9 hours on my feet (and left my toe throbbing for the rest of the night). If a shoe accommodated those problems, I found that the sole of a shoe caused severe pain on the outside bottoms of my feet and add to that the balls of my feet walking or just standing. With all that said, I finally found 1 pair... yes, one pair of shoes that work beautifully. I chose 1 full size larger than I have worn in the past (before the pain became totally unbearable). I wear them very loose on the tops, my toes can spread out, my pinky toe has feeling again, the arches are low but still there (as they should be, in order for the foot to feel like bare feet...Thank you to my trainer who told me that), the bottoms on the flats and the outside edges are cushioned and comfortable as are the balls of my feet. There is no need for an orthotic (just my opinion). I can walk and stand with almost no pain. I do wish there were different styles in my size, and I would love the mesh Presidio's for summer but cannot be found anywhere. Also, I work professionally in the retail industry and must wear black at all times...I am grateful to find that as well. I hope this helps somebody out there; as I haven't seen any reviews on feet that need special attention. I am not an old lady, actually, I am rather young who made bad, but high fashion shoes all my life and now dearly paying the consequences...Please post if this helps you!
I'd also recommend:
Maybe Alegria, only if there is no arthritis on the tops of the feet.

I ordered my first pair of Presidio's in Burnt Henna in February 2013. They were fantastic...comfortable out of the box. Since this color may be discontinued I thought I'd order a second pair, which arrived yesterday (directly from Keen, not Zappos). I was so disappointed as Keen has redesigned this shoe for the worse! 1) The shoe is cut lower in the back and now cuts into the soft part of the ankle. I fear I'll get blisters as a result. 2) The interior was previously a soft, durable leather; it's now a mesh that looks like it will not stand up to wear and tear like the leather of last year's pair. 3) The previous pair had a leather removable foot bed with excellent arch support that eased my plantar fasciitis. Keen has swapped it out with a flimsy mesh removable foot bed that has no arch support. 4) The traditional wide Keen toe box is slightly narrower in this new design. The product description on the Keen website (and here on Zappos) still describes it with the old features which is even more frustrating.

I've worn Presidio shoes for many years... but Keen has done something odd to this latest iteration. I'm disappointed that they don't fit and feel stiff and rigid along the top. My toes hit the end. Keen, if you are reading this, many of us buy this shoe again and again despite it's fairly awful appearance. We're not selecting it because of the style or color. It's more like a medical necessity. I have repeatedly purchased the Presidio for decades because it allows me to walk without pain and numbness on my unlucky, flat, size 11 feet. Why mess with it? Why? You are just cancelling out your target audience and the looks of the shoe won't attract fresh buyers. I'm glad it still works for some and I'm happy that others with problem feet will still be able to get around out there. As for me, I'm back to clicking through Zappos. Thanks for easy returns.

I have worn this shoe for a few years. Recently, I ordered a new pair of Presidio Keens and found them to be uncomfortable primarily in the tongue area. A new thick firm mesh material around the perimeter and tongue of the shoe has replaced the leather lining. I wore them indoors and they were very irritating on top of my feet. I ordered another pair thinking they might feel differently and they didn't. I was very disappointed because I have really enjoyed my old pair. I think Keen needs to re-examine the material used to line the shoe as well as the tongue. I will add that I wear custom made orthotics and usually Keen accommodates that need.
I'd also recommend:
Keen Sport is more comfortable. The tongue lining is not so irritating yet looks bulkier.

The shoes are comfortable. I took out the insoles and put in my orthotics (and they are plenty deep if you wanted to have both in). They have good support and are not chunky like other similar styles.

I work retail, seven hours a day, on concrete. I have arthritis in my feet and have bunions that demand a wide toe bed. Lots of criteria for support/comfort shoes! These shoes did not disappoint! At first, I was concerned about the snug fit, but observing the soft leather in the upper, I figured that they would softly stretch to accommodate and they did. I bought the same size as my Keen Venice sandals and it was just right. Did I mention that they make cute work shoes as well as fun casual shoes? I really like the whole package that Presidio offers!

I purchased these shoes to wear on our trip to Europe. Particularly interested in this brand as they were recommended by a friend who travels a lot. On first try they seem very comfortable. Lots of room in the toe box and the shoe. I replaced the inner sole with my orthotics and there is plenty of room even with socks and the tri-lock ankle brace I may wear on uneven cobblestones. I am particularly impressed with with the sturdiness of the shoe - no twisting. My physical therapist suggested only these types of shoes. I plan to wear black jeans during the daytime and they look great with them. Not at all boat-ish ( I wear size 10) I plan to walk more around the house to further "break them in" to really feeling comfortable. As for recommending - - I would but the real proof will be how they feel after the trip!

I love these shoes, this is my third pair. They're nice and wide at the front which is great for me. I just retired my last pair - after over 6 years of constant wear and many many miles, the inside heal finally wore out. The soles and leather were still in great shape. Really comfy walking shoe, look good and fit my orthotics. Can't beat them.

Well, I have a pair I bought in 2014 and need a new pair. Forgot what size I ordered so ordered a nine. A tad small, but it was the same shoe I have worn out. I send them back, get the 9.5 and the tongue of the shoe is made of some fake material that cuts the front of my ankle (it comes up much further than the old leather tongue. This is unacceptable. This shoe, as evidenced by all the great reviews is near perfection. WHY does a company change a product that people love and reorder? Do they think we will not notice? Is this about the $? I have now written Keen and I would like an answer. This kind of burns me up. I always felt like I could rely on these particular shoes for all of my activities. I love Zappos and I hope they will talk to the Keen people and return the shoe to the original great shoe that it was.

I bought a pair of these same shoes over a decade ago and loved the overall utility and clunky look of the shoe and decided to get the same pair. Well, these aren't the same shoe from over a decade ago. The shoe from a decade ago easily had room for my high arch and wide toe bed but not this shoe. When I put the shoe on, the top of the shoe was immediately pressing down on top of my foot, causing severe foot pain. There was also no room for my wide toes, which were being crushed by the lack of room in the toe area. Also unlike my original pair of this shoe, the back of the shoe is very low and was not securely holding my foot in the shoe, but rather, allowing my back heel of my foot to easily slip out of the shoe. In conclusion, Keen totally changed this shoe and it is a highly uncomfortable and non-utilitarian shoe and I am sending them back.

I bought these in Feb 2017 and wrote a review already, but wanted to f/u after wearing them for 9 months. They remain comfortable, however, the heel is wearing through the fabric. I wear these with support socks or hose, and I sit at a desk more than I'm on my feet now. I don't think a $110 shoe should wear out after 9 months of use. Plus I don't even wear them every day. Oh well, on with the search for a good work shoe.

Like other reviewers have said, not the same as previous version(s). Stiff sums it up well. May have some give after some wear, but these are going back. Disappointing that they've changed so much.

Like some of the other reviewers, I am disappointed in the quality of these shoes. I have a pair that I purchased from a retail store a few years ago and they're much more comfortable. This new style and manufacture are cheaper looking and the sides of the shoe are harder and not as soft as the originals that I have. The tongue is longer and stiffer and the area around the opening is not very well put together or supple. Overall, I'm not happy with how the quality has gone down on these shoes. I would not buy another pair. I'll keep the ones I purchased recently, for running errands, but won't wear them for long walks. I don't think they'd hold up or be as comfortable as the older ones I have.

This shoe is great, except for the tongue on the right foot. I noticed at purchase that the tongue was off center, but thought I could TRAIN it to stay centered by placing it in place and tying the laces tightly. But after a few months and frankly very limited wearing, nothing seems to help. The off center tongue placement is not very comfortable... on a long walk, stopping to untie, center, tie, does not help with the discomfort. If you get this KEEN shoe and you find the tongue sits off center, even laced properly, send back for another pair. I believe now this problem came from an error in stitching during production. My return time has now passed sadly, don’t let this happen to you.

I use to love this shoe. Over the years, I have bought many pair, but they now disappoint. It was the perfect shoe for me and had very comfortable arch support (which was the reason I bought multiple pair) since they changed over to the flowered insert, there is very little support. Before the change, I would have given 5 stars. Is it possible that many of these good reviews were from the previous insert? Unfortunately they have lost me as a customer.

I love the color. I have been wearing Presidios for years. First the materials changed resulting in a much stiffer shoe. Now the sizing has changed somehow. Not sure how. I thought I needed a half size larger but that wasn’t it. I am keeping the shoes because I like the color and I hope the shoe breaks in. But I doubt they will and I doubt I’ll buy a Presidio again.

This generation of Presidios is definitely not as wide as the older, wonderful shoe that I loved so much. They changed the sole and it's definitely narrower. So disappointed. Not the fault of Zappos, but KEEN sizing is all over the board. You can order the same shoe, at the same time, in a different color only to discover that one fits like a wide and the other fits like a medium. I'm tired of ordering two pair because even the same size and color sometimes have significant generations. And I'm tired of sending boxes and boxes of shoes back because you changed an old favorite.
KEEN! If you're reading these reviews, please take heed. Women want the option to order wide shoes with a roomy toe box. Stop narrowing your toe box to try to please the folks who think it's too boxy. Offer wide and medium widths instead. Make the kind of sturdy walking shoe you USED to be famous for. People who needed a wider, supportive shoe LOVED the Presidio. It was plain and kind of nerdy looking but our feet LOVED them. But you went and messed it up.

I'm not sure what to do with these, they were to replace my well loved old pair of Keen oxfords. The shoe is not lined with leather, the tongue is stiff and sharp where it hits the fold of my ankle. The toe box is still good.. Overall very disappointing to see Keen lower their quality, I'd be happy to pay more for the older version if only it was available. They used to be thee BEST! Zappos is STILL great though!

Disappointing remake of Keen's signature Presidio shoe. I have worn Keen's wonderful Presidios for ten years and the changes made in these shoes are unacceptable. Formerly great looking all suede, the pebbled leather in this shoe is cheap looking and inflexible. The interior once had great arch support with comfortable leather insoles, now have stiff unsupported mesh and the arch support has all but disappeared. These uncomfortable shoes are also wider and clumsy and seemed shorter and blockier. Very poor decision by Keen to
destroy a perfect walking shoe. If it's because of cost, they should know that those of us who loved the old Presidios, and who are Keen's best word-of-mouth advertisers, would be willing to pay the additional cost for the shoes we love made the original way for over a decade. I will not be able to buy Keen shoes any more until they make them with their original high quality features as outlined above. I gave it the lowest star rating for overall and comfort, but 5 stars for the style which was wonderful as they were originally constructed.

The shoes I received were actually a darker color than what is represented in the Zappos photo. Perhaps this is Santa Fe orange? They were not in the original Keen box so there was no way to verify the color. I prefer the darker color so for me this works out. I have one pair already in Shitake/cascade, they are comfortable and I've had a very hard time finding comfortable walking shoes. The arch hits just in the right place for me and I like the toe box room. At this point I am pleased.

I am returning due to a quality issue. I have had the shoes for less than 2 months and the back of the show is worn and ripped because it is a knit material and not leather like my previous keens. Also, the leather in this shoe is of low quality and is very stiff. I am very disappointed. This is probably at least my 10th pair of Keens and the first pair that I have had quality issues with.

These are my new favorite shoes. They are very comfortable, with a wide toe box and fun outdoor styling. I chose these rather than the newer version based on reviews and couldn't be happier. the only complaint i have is they squeak when I walk. Hoping that goes away with time. I recommend these for people who like to walk outside, and like a wider, more comfortable fit.

I LOVE these shoes. I was worried because of some of the reviews, but I'm finding these shoes to be extremely comfortable and the only pair I want to wear. I wear a 9.5 or even a 10 in athletic shoes, but even with my Superfeet berry insoles the 9.5 slipped off my heels. But because Zappo's is awesome I just got a 9 and it fits perfectly, and my free shipping and returns made it super easy! I plan to wear these during a spring trip to Europe and basically everywhere else I can because I love how comfortable they are. Other people think they are ugly but I am the one wearing them so I don't care. You don't notice with pants. With skirts they are maybe not the most attractive but I am wearing mine with a skirt today and do not feel the least bit frumpy.

This shoe is perfect for me. Have ordered Presidio for many years. At least 8. I put a new pair on and don’t need to break them in. Fits my orthotics. I wear them every day, all day. I walk at least 3 miles a day. I wear them in Michigan in the snow. The wide toe box accommodates my foot issues. (bunion on one foot and arthritic toes on the other.). I have been known to say that if I stood up in a wedding, I would spray paint them to match my outfit if necessary.
I wish the shoe laces and the soles lasted longer. I go through three to four pairs in a year.
