Bought this backpack as a replacement to an older version of same model. The original backpack was used for school and lasted years carrying pounds of books, equipment and other things students carry. I was pleased to see the design of this model is identical to the first one, so I anticipate years of use. And after 5 years the first was retired as it was shabby - nothing had ripped, pulled or broken. Still has life in it. Having purchased numerous backpacks over the years I think this is a well thought out design and a well manufactured product. It is ergonomically designed and has padding to soften the load. Numerous pockets and compartments makes stashing things easy and it is robust. The only suggestion to JanSport I would make is to make some in cooler colors but otherwise I can't recommend this highly enough. Very happy with this purchase.

I have to disagree to the above description that this current Odyssey bag has the "airlift" shoulder strap. I also have and still use the previous generation of the Odyssey that has the see through "honey comb" strap which are extremely soft right out of the box and also the exterior nylon shell appears and feel to be more thicker. Only downside is it doesn't have a dedicated laptop sleeve compared to the newer model. I actually bought this bag and compared them side to side.

The JanSport Odyssey is a great versatile backpack. I use mine as my "purse" for work. It has a laptop sleeve that protects my computer. In addition to that it has great pockets to hold everything I have.

This is a great backpack! I am starting in a new program for school and have a much bigger textbook load. I was in need of a backpack that could hold a lot more while still being comfortable enough to carry that much. This backpack is perfect. I feel that when I am done with college, I will still have many uses for it. I got the dusty blue color and like it. As always, Zappos was wonderful to deal with.

I love this backpack! It's just awesome. I ordered it 2 days before a trip to Europe as a second bag for side trips. Of course I could depend on Zappos to deliver. The quality is exceptional; it's not too big, not too small. There are ample pockets for carrying everything, shoes, toiletries, books. I used it for a 3 night excursion and had plenty of room to spare, so it can do a 5 day trip no problem for light packers. It looks great too. I got the Dusty Blue and love it. Highly recommend this bag.

Not only the best backpack but the best thing in general. This backpack has changed my life. It is the strongest backpack in the world. It has like 50 bagillion pockets. I look at other kids with their other backpacks to fit 20 books into them and it makes me wonder, do they have enough food to make it through the week? I can fit my old JanSport Equinox 33 full of books inside the large pocket. I would sleep in it if the homeless hadn't already (they really like it). If you do not buy this backpack then you will live a pointless short life.

Outstanding - With the outstanding customer service Zappos has to offer I ordered this fantastic backpack for my boyfriend knowing that if it didn't work for him, I could return or exchange it to Zappos with no problems. It did turn out to be the perfect bag.
