New Balance MW659 review - Very comfortable shoe and I like the fact that it comes in a wide size. It is hard to find this in a shoe store in a typical mall. I got this shoe for exercising and walking and they were the perfect fit for my needs.

...and assembled in the USA! Great fit and support, could use more vents in forefoot area, excellent for everyday, anywhere...

Accommodated Orthotics Nicely - I just had a Ceilectomy procedure on both great toes (Hallux Rigidus...removal of bone spurs from all the running and walking I've faithfully done over 55 years). The podiatrist prescribed orthotics to correct any biomechanical problems I still might have. I knew fitting the new shoes with orthotics might be tricky. I first ordered three pairs: the MW 811, MW 926 and the MW 659 all in a 9.5 Medium (I have worn Mediums all my life). The 659 fit comfortably with the orthotics in but for whatever reason, the 811s and the 926s were very tight. I requested returns on the 811s and the 926s immediately and twenty four hours later the new 811s and 926s (9.5 2EE) were at my door. They fit GREAT with my orthotics in. Zappos is sending a return label in the mail for the my original purchase. Zappos is great for customer satisfaction.

Another NB Winner - I've always liked New Balance shoes, and this recent purchase is no exception. Good looks, comfortable (I usually go with 2E and they fit great), and relatively light weight make these shoes a true winner!!!

The sole separates prematurely. I have had two pairs and last one had this problem in less then six months. That was too bad. I like the product a lot and have trouble finding a reasonably priced shoe for my big flat feet.

It is a good walking shoe has a thick bottom rubberwhich hits the pavement, the only negative is the insert for the sole of the shoe. it is a good value based on what i paid for the shoe! BBM

Okay fit, but the other NB shoe I ordered (same size, better fit) clearly had more cushion in the step and better comfort/fit overall. Easy choice. Preferred a different color, but that one was not available.

So far these have lived up to my expectations. There are a couple of minor gripes, most notably the ankle area, which (and this may just be me) rubs harshly on the outside of my ankle as I walk. It usually just lets me know I need to change my gait, but it can be annoying.

I got these to replace a pair of Rockport walkers that were very unstable in the heel. I use them for walking the dog, and I expect that I will use them when we make our annual visit to Yosemite next April. No break-in required. I wear orthotics, and they fit in these shoes with no problem. The moderate lug sole looks as if it will be good for "off-road" use, but that remains to be seen. Price was right, delivery prompt.

I ordered these shoes for my husband who usually wears an 11 medium. I ordered an 11 1/2 Medium because comments I read said it ran small. However it was too narrow. So I had to return it. The 11 1/2 Wide was out of stock so I obtained one elsewhere. That sixe fitt fine.

All in all an "ok" shoe. I bought it primarily for walking and it fits the bill. If you're looking for a "stylish" shoe this one's not for you. A very drab gray and somewhat hard to tell it's a New Balance product. As for size, the width is ok but the length seems somewhat bigger than advertised. I'm sure I, like many, have one foot larger than the other. All in all a good shoe but I can see signs of New Balance quality deteriorating. They are definitely not the shoes that I've worn for so many years.

Great comfy shoes I wear all day standing in a shop. Color is more light gray than in picture if that matters. Breath decently but not very good for warm temps. Nice that they donn't have big new balance marks on them. They run a little bigger, longer, compared to other New Balance in same size.

For New Balance, these were surprisingly narrow -- which is to say, they fit like any other brand. I wish I'd ordered 1/2 size larger so they fit more like every other New Balance shoe in history.

NB MW659 - I bought these shoes to wear in a new walking program I just started for myself. I have targeted 2 miles at least initially per session. These shoes were comfortable walking on carpet, but once on hard surfaces, you quickly find that the insoles supplied by New Balance are terribly inferior. For a walking shoe of this price, I would have expected far better insoles. I had to buy replacement insoles before I could use.

A Quality Product - I am very happy with the New Balance MW 659. I normally wear a 101/2 D shoe, but decided to order a half size larger for wearing a heavier sock during colder weather. Big mistake!! The shoe feels big in length.

I am a dedicated NB user. Was fitted with an NB shoe at Phidippides in ATL over 15 years ago. Initially, it took me some time a patience to break these in. They were wide and when I tightened them I got really bad blisters on both little toes. I almost returned them but tried loosening them up and was able to walk comfortably. Now that they are 8 months old my foot swims around in them and I can't crank them down tight enough because the shell is so stiff. Sole is very durable but the styling is average. Would have liked broader color choices. Will not buy again.

These are comfortable shoes. The soles could have better traction. These shoes are not tough enough for the terrain that I hike in. I have about 100 actual trail miles and they all starting to fall apart. The rocky terrain is tearing the sole up and they are coming unglued. I love New Balance but I do not think that these shoes are tough enough for a true hiking application.

I purchased the grey/black pair, which looks relatively nice on the website. However, they are actually a much brighter shade of grey, more like the image for the all grey shoe rather than the black/grey shoe. So, I sadly returned this and didn't have a chance to really try them out.

I am very disappointed with these shoes. They are decently comfortable but the build quality is abysmal. After only a month I had threads coming out left and right, and after a few short months of use the shoes already look years old.

I wear a 2E but they only make a 4E and they are too loose for hiking on rough terrain. I've got three pair of innersoles in the shoes and the strings are as tight as I can stand but the shoes are very unstable. If you can get your size, they may be okay but for off road hiking I would look at true hiking shoes.

While this brown New Balance walking shoe looks identical to my older grey one in every way, the company has obviously made a sizing change without announcing it. This pair is clearly half a size longer than my older pair. I ordered a 12, the label says it's a 12, but it's really a 12. I love my older pair. I have a prosthetic leg and it's the only shoe I can feel confident in walking over all surfaces in. But the extra half size makes me feel unstable. If you order this shoe, be aware that it is larger than it says it is.

Decent shoe, lasted about 4 months then the toe ripped on the end, no big deal then at 7 months the sole came unglued. Daily wear pretty good tread still on the bottom. Not bad for my first pair of New Balance...the shoe strings suck, always want to come untied. Definitely need a double knot.

Bought these for my husband. He said they are okay. He wishes there was more cushion and that they were better made.

Disappointed in the "cushi-ness" of the footbed. Previous New Balance shoes I have owned tend to have a rubbery cushion footbed from front to back... these seemed a little on the thin "cheapy" side. I fund that the New Balance MO689 were better.

I bought a pair of the New Balance MW659 in June and they have been comfortable shoes, but they are ready for the trash in early December, as the upper on the left shoe has separated from the sole. These are walking shoes, and I have not worn them on tough hiking trails (I have other shoes for hiking). I expected something more durable and will not order New Balance shoes again.
