I use this bag daily for work and it has become my favorite messenger bag that I have ever owned. I carry a laptop, notebooks, ipad, headphones, and pens in the bag. It is durable, looks good, and works well for my minimal travel needs.
The best part about the bag is that, due to the rotating clips, the strap never gets tangled!
The only complaint I have is that the pockets are on the small side and don't expand well, the bag doesn't pack bulky items like a full frame DSLR and lenses.
Perfect for an office or coffee shop bag, not so much for any kind of large packing situation.

I soooo wish I could give this bag 5 starts. I really wanted it to be everything my last Timbuk2 bag was and more. My last bag had plenty of space and lots of secured zipper compartments. It was lacking an outside pocket for easy access and after a couple of years the inside lining started falling apart.
I do like that this new bag has an outside zipper compartment for my tablet and other flat items. What I don't like is that the gusset on this bag is smaller than my last bag that is also a "medium" in size. I can't carry as much now on those moments when I need it.
It does have an outside zipper compartment on the flap (that I was looking for) but it's so small I can barely get my iPhone 6 in there...not a 6+. What I really wanted was to be able to toss my sunglasses, wallet, and phone in the outside pocket since I access those regularly. That's not happening with this bag.

I was worried that the product wouldn't get there in time for my boyfriend's birthday, but they totally pulled through and shipped it on time. He loves the bag. It's very roomy. The only thing we don't like is that weird swirly logo on the strap. That makes it look cheap and outdated. Everything else is stellar.

What a great bag! I love the look, how much it holds and the great build quality. I own a backpack from Timbuk2 as well and am surprised to say this bag holds more in a more "business" oriented.
Two complaints (very small): 1) issues in adjusting strap length - especially when I have it on. The pull system just doesn't work as advertised. 2) the small pocket in the computer area for charger. The computer area is a bit tight and I always feel that my charger in this area will damage my laptop. However, the great interior mesh pockets provide me a great alternative!
As a long-time user of Timbuk2, this is a great addition and a serious step up from the classic messenger!!!

Slightly oversized for a 14 inch computer screen, but the space is valuable for travel. I use it every day for work, where I carry files and the computer and electronic accessories. I plan to use it for one night trips, as the main compartment is roomy enough for that. More than one night might require a second bag.
I made one modification, the straps for the clips on the front were too long in my opinion, so I trimmed them back.
Overall, very nice bag, I am happy with it.

Overall, I really like this bag, and it is a great replacement for my older and worn out one. I got this bag on sale and with a promotion added so it is bigger than what I originally had in mind, but it turns out the amount of space is really great without the bag being too big or bulky. The lack of compartments compared to my much older Timbuk2 computer bag is somewhat offset by the volume. Even though I don't fly that often, being able to get my computer or a book or two out of the back is very convenient. The one big gripe I've got is that that the material of the shoulder strap is so thin that it is scrunched up by the cross strap. I've mostly remedied this by fashioning a sort of sleeve out of sheet metal to go around the shoulder strap and underneath the loop of the cross strap. The cross strap can placed across the waist but only if one's waist is of a sufficiently small circumference. Some attachment loops on the front of the shoulder pad would also be nice.

I love Timbuk2 and have used them for years. I travel a lot and bought this one to carry my laptop and papers. It's well made and extremely comfortable but with one pretty serious drawback: the two plastic clips securing the front flap are too small and too hard to latch and unlatch. This is a problem because I open and close the flap many times per day, and even after a month of use I'm still fumbling. It really needs larger and better made clips (like the ones I have on an older Timbuk2 bag)

I take everything I need on a daily basis from lunch to my computer and other books or items for work, it is spacious and durable. I love the size from the width to the height.

Very nice bag overall. I just wish it had one more, larger zip compartment in the exterior.

This is a really well made bag, which is compact yet spacious with lots of compartments. The dusk blue/black 3-panel design looks super cool.
However, the device fit guide is misleading. Always use your device's true dimensions to see if your laptop fits. I bought this bag (Size M)for my wife. She has a Lenovo T540 (15.6 inch) laptop and I have a Lenovo W540 (15.6 inch) bag. According to the Device fit guide, both laptops will fit in the Medium size bag. Unfortunately, due to the tapered bottom part of the laptop compartment, neither (T540/W540) fits in size M. But my wife will be getting her new office laptop in a month and she will be opting for a smaller laptop so that she can use this bag.

I got the large one that could fit 17 inch laptops. But a 15 inch laptop fits rather snugly into it.

The messenger bag was a birthday gift to my husband, and he loves it! We have a few trips planned in the near future, and he is excited about the TSA approved bag.
The only negative thing about my experience was the shipping. I ordered the bag on 11/21, but did not receive it until the second week of December. I tracked it, and there were several shipping location errors. Probably more of an UPS issue, than TIMBUK2, but it would make someone think twice about ordering from them, if they are on a timeline. I had been told 5-7 day delivery, it was way more than that.

Great bag. Everything I was looking for but couldn't find. Not sure if it was worth the price yet but so far completely optimistic. Horrible shipping and took much longer to receive than should of. Called customer service and it was not their problem because they sent it to ups and then they were done. Got a certificate to upgrade shipping if I bought something else in the next two weeks. Very disappointed and probably won't purchase directly from the company again but go through a hoed party like Amazon that cares if you don't receive your package when they said it would get to you

Work great for my everyday office commute. Comfortable padded strap, plenty of room. No negative feedback at this time.

I bought this bag specifically with my laptop in mind. I put in the dimensions of my laptop and it said that it should fit, however, it really doesn't. I can get it closed, but I am afraid that I am putting too much stress on the pocket that contains the laptop.
Although I would recommend the product to another person, it didn't work out for me using the laptop sizing.

I was seeking a catch-all bag for work, and landed on this one from various reviews. It's not really that (there's not enough room for my lunch and workout gear), but it's great for all my work items and I'm looking forward to flying with it for the first time.
I like the compartments; they make sense and hold well my computer accessories and work papers.
While it's not great at what I was looking for, it's great for what it is! Were I to purchase again, I'd probably get the medium size instead of small, for some extra room.

I'm planning on using it for school, however, I've gotten to use it on an airplane ride and went through security no issues. The bag itself is plenty roomy, but because of how I'm only 5'4", the strap has to be tightened all the way to sit up on my back. That's only an issue if you're small though...

This is about my 3rd or 4th Timbuk2 Messenger Bag, I've been using it for about 4 weeks now, and I do like it a lot. As it was about 30% discounted, it was a really good deal. My former messenger bag had 2 velcro strips, which wore off and looked quite ugly (even when the bag was closed). So I wanted a bag without those, and I'm really not missing those velcro thingies. Inside the bag, some more compartments would be appreciated, but I've organised myself.
All in all, I'd buy it again.

Travel continuously
Excellent bag, light weight, roomy and comfortable.
Changes I would make -
needs front zipped pocket to be bigger, to fit a 5.7" smartphone.
Side access zipper to front compartment, so you don't have to unclip top flap/cover.
Stronger/bigger flap clips
second Velcro strip under the top flap, single does not hold tubes, umbrellas etc (long items)

Nice layout with many improvements over previous versions. Would like some additional straps or elastic as cord keepers and power packs holders.

I love my new Commute bag. I use it any day I commute on bus/train to work, as I can't fit a suit into it on the bike. But other than that it's always with me.
It's so roomy, fits all of my stuff, including laptop & iPad, as well as all of the other things needed throughout the day. I recently did a photography course and it took all and even my small camera bag inside it.
My only disappointment is the lack of a Napoleon pocket which I used on my Classic Messenger for grabbing passport/tickets/phone easily.
Other than that, love love love my bag!

I use this as my laptop bag everyday for the office. A little on the large size but that good in case I need it for a day trip to NYC.

Great for commuting, or as a carry on. Used it as a carry on my first week, and it was PERFECT size, and fit for the plane ride. Works to get me back and forth to work, and doesn't feel cumbersome like a backpack sometimes does.

I bought this in a size M to carry my work laptop to/from home every day because my chiropractor recommended a messenger style or backpack. It's amazing how easy this bag is to sling over to wear messenger style and the handle is perfectly positioned to grab and swing the bag forward or backward with ease (even with a winter coat on). It is perfectly organized for comfort. There are slots for pens/pencils, a zippered compartment inside for whatever odds & ends need to be stowed, and more pockets than I expected. I'm in love! :)
