Tretorn's Not What they Used To Be -
I had worn Tretorn Adiddis tennis shoes for many years. And suddenly they became hard to obtain. Local stores no longer carried them. I was told by one specialty sports store that the reason it no longer carried them was that they had been taken over by a new company and were now manufactured in Europe, and the fit was no longer reliable. I stopped buying them. Recently, I discovered Zappos carried them and decided to try them again.
While the fit is good, they do not seem to be of the same quality that I remember. They are lighter weight and appear to be less substantial. They do not have the same support, cushion, or comfort they originally had.
Although somewhat disappointed, I am willing to give them a try.

Little white canvas tennis shoes -
I have worn these particular tennis shoes for about 25 years and they no longer have a moderate arch support or well padded tongue and heel BUT they look good. For the woman with a long foot this shoe does do some minimization of length and it's not "clunky" in appearance.

Tretorns - not quite the same -
I was hoping for the same Tretorns of my high school years, but the ones I received were a little bit different. The comfort of the soles was the same, but the shoe's uppers were made of canvas...not the padded soft cotton I remember. They rubbed a blister across 3 toes (I always wear them without socks) where the shoes bend. I am pleased to have a pair again, but I wish the uppers were the same soft, cushy I remember.

Stylish and Comfortable -
I admit I am reliving my youth through these sneakers, but they are still the super comfortable sneaker I remember. They fit true to size and the canvas upper doesn't make my feet feel too hot. The only criticism I would have would be the inside and the foot pad are no longer cloth, but nylon; overall, I am satisfied with my purchase - just what I wanted for summer a lightweight shoe to wear without socks. Oh yeah, I ordered the shoe on Tuesday and received it the next day at no extra charge!

Great Casual Sneaker -
The color wasn't as white as I expected (or remembered), I always bought these shoes years ago, but they seemed to have disappeared for a while. They are comfortable for running errands and look cute with jeans or shorts, but I wouldn't consider them all day walking shoes.

They are not as comfy as the old Tretorns - as other reviews warned they have lost some of the padding on the heel and inside the shoe. I like the look and they are not uncomfortable - I just decided they would not be going with me on an upcoming trip that will involve lots of walking and standing since there are better options.

I just ordered these and love them, but cannot believe that anyone would say these fit true to size. I am always a size 10, and ordered a 10 in these and they are at least a half size too large -- maybe even a full size. Returning for a 9.5 and hoping those fit.

I'm really disappointed in the quality of these Tretorns. They may look somewhat like the ones we remember from the 80s, but these aren't nearly as nice. The canvas is thin, flimsy and wrinkly. They look white indoors, but when I'm in the sunlight I can see a color difference between the canvas and the cloth edging: the edge looks like a glowing white color, while the canvas looks somewhat dingy and yellowed. These shoes also run somewhat long and narrow. I wear either an 8 or 8.5 in most shoes, but the Tretorn 8 feels a little too long (and also pretty narrow, so then tend to hurt the sides of my feet after a while). I have only kept these shoes because they serve a particular fashion purpose for me.

YES! It's good to see them back in stock! I bought my last pair in 2003 and they're still holding strong. I usually wear an 8.5 women's but as with all my Puma shoes I had to go a full size up. They're super comfortable and great for walking around. Now I can finally have a backup pair!

Not the same - These shoes seem flimsier than the Tretorn Nylites I have had for the past 10-12 years. My old ones were padded somewhat with terry cloth, which made them very comfortable. These have no padding and the cushioning around the ankle is not as thick. Also, I think the decoration on the side is plastic now but I think it used to be leather. The size seemed to run a little large.

They are definitely not the same!
I have worn Tretorn’s for years now, seeking them out wherever I could find them. The manufacturer has changed the shoe little by little, making them lighter (which was good) and cheapening certain details. They remained comfortable, nevertheless, until they made this last change, which was to remove the padding around the back of the foot (and reduce the price). But there's absolutely no support for the ankle anymore. I'm hoping they'll come to their senses and start making a sturdier shoe!

Not what I used to have-
It is OK- but, much cheaper feeling and looking than the one I wore in the 70s. But, it is light and comfortable- and looks better than most of the shoes on the market.

Not my old Tretorns -
I was a little disappointed when I received my new Tretorns. They felt different, so I dug my old pair out of the back of my closet. My old ones are lined in terry cloth for comfy no-sock days. My old ones have a more substantial sole and arch support. Even the shoelaces are sturdier. These are more like Keds. Not worth the money.

Look Great but not Comfy -
I love the look of these Tretorns- very classic but they are not so comfortable. My feet end up hurting at the end of the day which is surprising for sneakers.

Not the same quality as the Tretorn tennis sneakers of my youth. Much thinner and flimsier. Returning.

I wore Tretorns as a teenager and loved every pair. Unfortunately these sneakers are not made with the same quality. Very disappointing.

The shoe is much narrower and smaller than typical 5.5 and pretty unattractive. Looks like nurses shoe without all the cushion.

Although I was extremely disappointed in the quality of this long time favorite tennis shoe when I bought it last year, I am ordering another pair today.
They have the best heel support for my foot.
The quality is nothing like the original Tretorn, no terry lining, thin canvas, thin laces and they did not old up well and I need to order a half size up.
But for my 79 year old feet they still give me the best support for walking.

Tretorn, I am so sad! I wore Tretorns for years and was thrilled to learn they were being sold again after disappearing for years.
Sadly, these are not the same wonderful shoes I loved years ago. Gone is the wonderful padding and "walking on cloud" like feeling. The soles are hard and offer no arch support. The canvas and laces appear to be made of lesser quality material. Just opening the box gave me an awful "this was made in China" using lesser quality materials. I would have gladly paid $20 more for the style sold in the 1980's which was a far superior product.
Sending these back.

After reading the negative comments, I still decided to purchase these sneakers as I loved them as a kid and wore them all the time. Unfortunately, the reviews were accurate. They are cheaply
made with no padding. If you want a basic canvas sneaker with no frills, then this is for you but I own many much more comfortable casual shoes/sneakers that I would wear over these.

I have worn Tretorn tennis shoes for many, many years and thoroughly enjoyed every pair. I think I have every color combo they made. The latest pair I received today are such a disappointment, I am returning them. The quality is just not there any longer. They are really an equivalent of a "Keds" and no longer have the terrycloth lining or the padding in the soles that the shoe has historically had. The "white/white" was really an ecru/funky beige color.

I wasn\'t very impressed with this shoe. I found the inside of the upper to be a little rough, and it was also a bit cramped in the toes. Maybe someone with narrower feet than mine might find it to be more comfortable.
