Clarks Shoe -
The shoe runs a little big I should have ordered a size smaller.

Clark Trackers -
The Portugal made Tracker shoes are wonderful. Why Clark ever went to China is beyond me. Why change something that made you great. I'm returning my China made Tracker shoes. I should have bought more Portugal made shoes and just kept them for now. Anything you like will soon be discontinued so if you find something you like you'd better buy several pairs for the future.

Is Tracker a new version of Caribou?
I'd like to know if Tracker is the new name for Clarks' Caribou, with a thicker (and much less attractive) outer sole. I bought a pair of Caribous in 1997 and, aside from resoling, the only thing that doesn't still look almost new in 2003 is the interior -and I've worn them 90% of the time since then, including all over Japan and back. The shoe has the same poorly-designed metal loops people are complaining about in the Tracker (not a big problem), and the interior heel lining wore out inexplicably while the shoes were still fairly new, so I had to have them relined with leather, and they were fine. It's really been a great shoe, and I wish Clarks hadn't discontinued it. (Why do near-perfect things always disappear?) If the Tracker is the new version, I'll probably get a pair if I can get used to the beefy, moulded, oversize-truck-tire look of the outer sole. Just not my kind of image...but the shoe may be good. BTW my Caribous are Chinese-made and the workmanship is fine. Perhaps there were some defective materials in the lining, but the basic shoe is as good as any other Clarks shoe. (I started wearing their Desert Boots as a kid in the 1950s.)
I'd also recommend:
Clarks, Ecco, Seibel, other (too-expensive) European designs.

Clarks, an AWESOME shoe -
I was introduced to Clark's "Caribou" shoe in 1998, and I've never been more excited about a shoe until that time. The following is my shoe's wear life: office to daily wear, now a dependable general labor shoe "Yard work", and next I will down-grade them to "Trout fishing". They've taken 300 lbs. of abuse for 5 years; therefore, I expect them to take another 2 years before I retire them completely.

Longlasting -
I bought my first pair about 4 years ago, I'm still
wearing them today and the only thing thats worn
out is the inside bottoms. I don't think there's a
better feeling shoe anywhere; and walking is a dream.

The eyes don't work !
The shoes look and feel great, and require no time to break in. But, the metal eyes for the laces separate and allow the laces to come out. By rotating, the eyes also put strain on the leather fasteners which is going to greatly reduce the time they last

Mailman delite -
I started wearing this model in 1995. I walk on the average day about 12 miles or 19 KM. I was really surprised the first time I tried this style. I found there is NO breaking in period. Almost felt like slippers. I use a pair every year and a half. For the price, the quality is superb. I've been a mailman since 1989 and I always seemed to have burning feet at the end of the day. No more problems with that anymore. Clarks Trackers converted me. Thank You.

Comfortable shoes with poorly designed hooks
The tracker is an excellent work shoe, that looks great. My main problem with the shoe however, are the metal lace hooks which are not very strong and tend to open over time

My Husband Loves Clark Trackers
At the recommedation of a co-worker, I bought my husband his first pair of Clarks' Trackers in 1996 from a discount department store. I thought he might like them, but he LOVED THEM! I can't get him to wear any other shoe now but Clarks! I'm glad I can order them from Zappos.

Great Shoes
I had major problems with my feet from standing all the time as a Teacher. Podiatrist was no help after $300 worth of Orthotics. My first pair of Clarks Trackers lasted 5 + years and ended my foot problems. I just purchased my 2nd pair of Trackers. Great Shoe!!!

clark trackers
ive owned a pair of trackers for years. The problem with these are, the metal hooks for the laces tend to pull out, and they have absoultely no grip on any wet surfaces,on ice? forget it,they are downright dangerous. Comfort? I'll give them that. They feel nice.

China? Yes, Problem? No
First pair of Trackers for me; they are still a bit stiff, but they'll soften with age. I walk over 40 Km a week, so I'm hoping they'll last longer than the Rockport product I wore out in two years. Got them at a great price here in Toronto - $85 US. Quality is excellent, although the leather lining tends to leave a stain on white socks, but that's a short-term break-in problem.

(Unsolicited) satisfied customer
Five years ago I purchased my first pair Clark's Tracker sshoes from the "Village Bootery" in Tequesta Florida. Since I spent much time on my feet in shop and office enviornments as a Process Engineer, comfort and durability were my highest priorities. The same pair of shoes are just as comfortable today as when I first tried them on and they have lots of milage left in them. They cost a little more than the average shoe, but have proven to be well worth the extra few dollars and I've since recommended them to many of my colleagues.
Stumbled upon your site & just wanted to pass along the comment. Personaally, I'd be hesitant about buying shoes on-line, without first trying them on.

Best damn shoes ever.
I purchased my pair in '98 for $39.00 from a used shoe store. They were new, therefore, they must have been demos. I've abused these shoes for 4 years and I have finally worn them to the point that they are ugly. I believe that I can still get another 2 years out of the shoes, though. I just don't think that my employer would appreciate it.

Best shoes I've ever owned
I've owned a pair of Tracker's since around 1996. When I purchased them, I wasn't sure if I liked their looks, but they were extremely comfortable. Before that, my feet always hurt, and my shoes would only last 6-9 months. I've worn these shoes almost every day since I purchased them and the sole is just finally worn off on the outside edges. GREAT SHOES!

A Chinese Copy.
This shoe is made in China, and is a poor attempt at the typical Clark's quality and fit. The shoe is not made on the same last as other Clark's I've owned.

I bought these shoes in 1997 and they are still going strong. I normally wear out shoes in 6 months. The soles on these shoes are just now starting to wear and they have TONS of mileage on them. This has been the most comfortable pair of shoes I have ever owned and I highly recommend them.

Try them a little longer - they are great.
To Steve Gruner of MD. Try them a little longer. I know exactly what you are saying. They are a little heavy, but that's just because they are so well made and long lasting. My wife bought me a pair 3 years ago. I felt like you. She kept after me to wear them. Now, they are my most comfortable shoes ever. Any amount of walking and you will want these shoes, they are THAT comfortable. And mine are made in China too.

Like wearing heavy ice skates.
After reading all the positive reviews, these shoes are a big disappointment. Someone mentioned they are made in Portugal: only if China became part of Portugal! The shoes are extremely heavy and somewhat hot. On wet tile floors, there is no traction whatsoever. These are some of the worst shoes I've ever had -- $100 down the drain.
I'd also recommend:
Any other brand would be better.

The Best & Most Comfortable Shoes I've Ever Had.
I’ve owned a Clarks men's "TREK type" shoe since 1994. Made in Portugal (as #3103). I have never really felt so comfortable and so well equipped to go anywhere and at anytime with them. They make me feel restless and always willing to keep walking and walking in a very relaxed and positive posture.

Verified Purchase
THE best shoe I've ever owned.
I purchased my first pair of Trackers in 1996 and after 5 years of almost daily use, the soles were beginning to show some wear. I searched all around St. Louis and was unable to find them. Zappos to the rescue!
I can whole-heartedly recommend both this shoe and the folks at Zappos.com.
