I bought these last year for this summer and noticed the sole was yellow; I thought it must be a design change...nope. In a few weeks I noticed a pitting in the soles, then the right sole cracked all the way across the ball of the foot, then the left sole started dropping chunks of rubber, it appears to be dry rot. Too bad Sperry was my go to for 30 years.

Watch out! No satisfaction guarantee! I own 3 pairs of these shoes in different colors-- navy, white, and brown. My brown pair i have worn for about 2 years very lightly (not even my primary boat shoe) and only wore boating once. I bought the brown pair as an overlap/replacement for another brand boat shoe that was on its way out so these weren't worn much for the first year. The rubber sole is already tearing away from the leather upper by quite a bit mostly after wearing out on the fishing boat. These shoes truly do not stand up to their name! I am not satisfied with these shoes in terms of durability and they have not stood up to the test like other boat shoes from Well known brands!

The shoe fit a little small and looks nice. I ended up with blue leather dye on my feet after, which feels indicative of low quality manufacturing.

Ordered 2 different pairs both in wide width. Unfortunately, much too narrow and both need to be returned. Sadly, this was a gift and am really disappointed.

If you need a wide shoe, BEWARE!! the 9XW in this style is NARROWER/TIGHTER than 9W in the Gold Cup (that's not a typo). Sperry sizing is either kinda random or just sloppy. I need really wide shoes - if you do too BEWARE! I was very disappointed when i got these. I'm still wearing the 9XWs around intermittently just to break them in....

I've owned one pair of Sperry's boat shoes before this pair. They lasted three years, and I was thrilled with them. I decided it was time for an update, so I bought this model as a replacement. All was well for 6-7 weeks. Then, the insole in the right shoe started peeling up at the heel. Nothing I couldn't deal with. However, today I discovered that the ENTIRE insole of the left shoe has become detached from the rest of the shoe (it's usually sewn in). I've lost all trust in the brand, as the price definitely does not reflect a shoe that falls apart so soon.

You are loosing larger customers. The toe box is too small. You do not carry sixes above 13 and you do not carry extra wide. Others are filling need.

For what they charge for these shoes now, I'd eXpect some modicum of quAlity. These shoes emit the most irritating squeaking/whistling sound With every step. SoMetHing wRong with the seal in the sole or sOmething. Argh.

One shoe works perfectly fine. The other has this awful pumping sound everytime I step on it. It sounds like air is coming out of a hole somewhere. It gets embarrassing.

For some reason my right Sperry makes a squeeking sound like there's a dog squeek toy inside the heel of my right foot. It's incredibly annoying. I've adjusted the laces and done everything possible to make it stop but everyone keeps commenting on it when I walk and I've stopped wearing the shoes as a result.

The photo of Sahara leather on the web site does not match the actual color of the shoes. The web site is advertising a different shoe than it's selling. The shoes I received are about two shades lighter, closer to the Oatmeal color.
Some other sites like Piperlime have accurate photos of this color, and it's disappointing that Sperry does not. The color I received is more yellowy-tan than tan-brown.
I'm a longtime Sperry fan, and the shoes fit the same as all the other pairs I own. They just aren't the color that I ordered.

I needed a pair of Navy basic Top-Siders for work. Sperry refuses to bring back other colors like Navy and Oatmeal in narrow sizes so I had to buy a medium width.
Come on Sperry, what's up with that??

My son wanted a pair of Sperry's but we are struggling with sizing: 10 1/2 is too big & 10 is too small. Giving up after 2 tries.

sperrys are the classic shoe for the modern fraternity man/soon to be frat guy. sperrys are not for smelly hipsters or extreemly redneck people. sperrys have gone downhill since non-fraternity men started wearing them. geeds man.

Shoes are good looking but the dye of the Amaretto color transferred all over my socks. Ruined my socks. I bought three different pairs and the same thing happened with each. Had to return all three pairs of Topsiders.

Been wearing and loving Topsiders for 50 years. However, the Amaretto color is defective. I have bought online and immediately returned 3 pairs, all with the same problem. The dye in the shoe transferred to my socks and bottom edge of my pants. Not just a little, either. After wearing the first pair for 10 minutes, my tan socks are now reddish brown in every single area that came in contact with the shoe: top, bottom, sides, heels, toes. Looks like I stepped into a container of reddish paint. The red dye did not come out of my socks or pants after washing. Just glad I wore socks and was not barefoot! I did not wear the next two pairs, but from the inside of the box it was apparent they suffered from the same problem - there was a reddish greasy substance on the inside of the box and all over the tissue paper within. I wiped those shoes and the color came off on a cloth, so I needed no further evidence. Nice looking shoe, but NOT wearable and NOT recommended. No quality control, shame on Sperry.

I ordered women's 8.5 Wide first and returned them because they were waaay too narrow so I returned them. At your suggestion, I ordered men's 6.5 Wide...they were way too narrow and were returned also.

I sent the boat shoes back losing much money for return postage. The size is not "True To Size". The 10.5M which I have worn forever did not fit. I would not buy another pair of Sperry shoes again on-line. The sizes are incorrect and the cost of returning them too much.

This is my 5th pair of Sperry's and I usually get about two years before the show starts to really break down and need to be replaced. My latest pair (purchased June 17th) didn't even last a month before the insole started coming apart. I can't believe that the quality of this shoe has fallen off so much that now they only last 30 days....

Just purchased a new pair 3 weeks ago. Have worn them 4 times. The inner sole on both feet has peeled back and the rubber lining is disintegrating; it's crumbling to bits. Very disappointing. Our family has been wearing Sperrys for years and have never had this issue. Looked on the box, made in China......

Yes, the shoes are comfortable and stylish. Yes, I have been buying them for years. I always get tons of positive comments when I wear my Sperry's. However, recently the quality is extremely poor. First, the soles go bad after one year and they become hard and slippery. Secondly, the innersoles always peel back...clearly a design or build problem; it seems like the glue being used is just not effective. To date, I have mailed back about four pairs - all for the same issues. I suggest you hold on to your money until the quality issues are resolved.

I purchased these shoes last April (2012). I used them for the months of May and October 2012, and when I went to wear this May, the soles cracked and pieces of the heel broke off. These shoes have not been worn rough, nor have they been worn in the water.
I have had many pairs of Top-Siders over the years, but the quality of these is embarrassing for the name. I have other Sperry shoes I like (almost all of my shoes are Sperry...), but the Originals seem to have a quality issue.
