First, I'm long-in-the-tooth but also diligent in seeking expert reviews. I was unfamiliar with the Kamik brand until finding that the Nation Plus was Wirecutter's (New York Times) first choice in Snow Boots. I was searching for a taller boot (Colorado has seen deep snow this Winter), comfortable, and easy to get on. The latter caused me to consider a slip-on, thinking the lacing on the Nation Plus might be a deal-breaker. No, I do not plan to compete in the Iditarod, but we have an expansive and steep driveway that even with a good snowblower requires over an hour to clear moderate snow and much longer with deep snow. So, how do these Kamiks stack-up? 1. This taller boot is waterproof and has Thininsulate; my feet get neither wet nor cold. 2. It is THE most comfortable boot of any type that I have ever had on my feet. I thought it would be clunky. It is not. 3. The top is highly flexible; it is easy to get on, even for those of us of a certain age with arthritis and reduced flexibility. I've seen many questions about these boots; here is my input: A. For me, I sized-up from my traditional 11.5 to 12.0 and they work great, noting that the deciding factor for me was European sizing, which I think is much more precise than American sizing. The size 12's in European sizing mirrors that in my 11.5's in dress and athletic shoes. B. The grommet pattern is interesting. The lower eyelets (punch grommets) are separated from the upper D-ring grommets by a black anchor grommet. I find that loosening the laces no further (down) than the anchor grommet permits easy-in/easy-out while assuring that the upper foot is secure. Rarely is this grommet pattern seen elsewhere. C. Those "tiny holes" in the circular patterns on the soles are for ice screws (aka studs). This sole depth would comfortably accommodate standard ice screws if needed but slip-on ice crampons would obviate removing screws. Kamik has made a winner. The boot information said your feet would be warm to -40 degrees. No way, after several hours of shoveling snow and ice the bottoms of my feet were cold, I was wearing a thick pair of wool socks too. I wear custom made arch supports so really can't comment on that. I did go to a larger size. I normally wear a 9.5 shoe but ended up with a size 10. I am glad I did that. I paid $84 dollars two weeks ago and see the boot is now $64.09.

For the price these are good boots. I needed one for Vermont winters and this one miserably failed to keep my toes warm. After standing for about two hours at the base of a ski slope in Stratton, WITH ski socks ON, in these boots, my toes were about 30 mins away from what felt like gangrene. The ad says these are rated for Negative 40F. Well it was only 15F in Stratton and this did not work at all. There is no way these boots will work for long periods of time in temperatures below 20F. It's fine for about 1 to 2 hours but if you are going to be in very chilly climates, this boot may not work for you. I did use them buried in about 3 feet of VT snow with my kids for about one hour and they kept my feet and toes dry. However, beyond that time, all bets are off. I will not rely on these to keep my toes warm. I have another pair of Ugg Butte boots and they are substantially more superior and more comfortable than these boots for chilly winter outdoors. My recommendation would be to spend more and get better boots especially for sub zero conditions. For the price however these are good.

I bought them for my college age son who tends to get a lot of snow where he is studying. At first he said he didn’t need boots, but Mom always knows better! He was resistant at first, but when he got them, he immediately thought they looked cool, fit well, and were great for walking through the snowdrifts. He wears size 9.5- 10 and I bought him size 10, which he says fit well.

I travel to Alaska in January and February for work. Coming from northern California, it's a bit of a change to say the least! These have kept my feet warm and dry through -14 degree weather and I have zero complaints. The removable liner is a nice touch as well. Buy these or buy something else and then buy these because the kamiks work... Your choice. I'm on my second pair and won't be looking for another snow boots for a long time.

These boots are the MOST comfortable boots you will ever wear! I bought these for my son (who is a size bigger than me) and after trying them on, I had to get one for myself as well. They have this memory foam material inside which feelings amazing for your feet. They are warm, good quality, and overall a great buy. I highly recommend these boots.

I've had mine through 7 Chicago winters so far. Still waterproof, still warm, still rugged. These boots are the best.

Well made boot. My size is 10.5 EE. Zappos recommended 11 D but way too narrow for me. Too bad that Kamik can’t make a wide size. Returned.

The boots are comfortable and warm. I wore them for the first time this morning, shoveling snow for 3 1/2 hours and my feet were comfy, warm and dry.

Loved the style and they actually fit well but after a few weeks of wear, they leaked and my feet froze.
