Love these boots! I\'ve only worn them around the house yet but they are very comfortable. As for sizing, I was uncertain because of the reviews. Most people were saying they run 1\/2 to a full size too large. And they will "break in". I usually wear 9 1\/2 or 10. So I ordered a 9. It was a struggle to get them on and off and I tried them on for 3 days. It did not get much easier so I ordered a 9 1\/\/2 and they went right on. It seems they are not so much longer, but wider or roomier. If you are a solid shoe size I would go 1\/2 size down. If you are one of 2 sizes, just go with the lower size. Hope this helps.

Amazing boots! Just received them in the mail. I actually had to use saran wrap to get them on at first, but they have stretched out and they now fit perfectly. Beautiful distressed leather and squared toe. Love them, thanks Zappos!

I was looking for a pair of classic looking, harness style motorcycle boots. I had never tried Frye boots before and was apprehensive about the cost, but I had heard amazing things about this brand & decided to give them a try. I ordered them in the smoked oil wash. First off, let me say that Frye really lives up to its name. I understand all of the hype now! The craftsmanship, detailing and quality is simply amazing! These are very well-made boots! While these were very beautiful, I decided to exchange them for the Frye 8W black harness boots, simply because I had my heart set on a pair of classic, black motorcycle boots. From the pictures, to me, the shiny black option in this style had a bit more of a cowboy boot vibe to it. Very striking, just not what I was going for. I knew the smoke color wouldn't be a jet black, but I expected it to be more in the black color family, by looking at the picture. & I loved the vintage look to it. In person, it looks more of a smoky, espresso color with hints of black. I would categorize these boots to be more in the brown range/family of colors. It's very versatile & a beautiful, neutral, earthy shade that will pair well with pretty much anything. & it did have that vintage look/ feel to them. I just had something very specific in my mind that I was looking for, and had my heart set on black boots. And that is the only reason that I exchanged these. But Zappos was so amazing with this and with all of their help! I cannot sing their praises enough! & the 8W Harness boots are perfect for me!! I wanted to write this review 1) to reiterate what other reviewers have said. The quality of these boots is outstanding and it is worth the money! These will hold up for a very long time! So you will get you your money's worth! And they are a beautiful pair of boots! And 2) to explain about the smoke color. It's very striking & if I saw a woman wearing them, I would stop her and complement her on such beautiful shoes. Again, I was just looking for something specific and the smoke is not a black. Hope that helps! Oh! As far as sizing goes, I'm either a 7 or or 7 1/2 in most shoes (a 7 in shoes that tend to run a little bigger or a higher end brand ). This was no exception. The 7 worked well, although these were a little more narrow for me than my 8W (which fit my particular foot a little better, the 8W that is. )

I am a true to size 7. I bought these in both a 7 and a 6.5 as other reviewers said they ran 1/2 size big. The 7 was more comfortable to get on, but my foot slid all over the place. The 6.5 was snug in the toe box but after wearing it around the house they were perfect. If they are snug, blast them with a blow dryer and wear around the house. Voila, perfect Fryes! Also, I bought the Chocolate Vintage which is a stiffer leather than the khaki color. I think it will stretch out perfectly! Hope this helps!

Never owned a pair of Frye boots since every "Earl" I knew, back in the day, wore a pair. However, I knew they were very well made and lasted forever, which in this economy is a plus. I decided to check the Frye Boot section at Zappos and came across the Frye Harness 8R. I fell in love at first sight. They are a work of art, seriously. The finish is beautiful and unique. The quality is all that Frye boots are known for, first rate leather, sturdy leather sole and heel, the detailed stitching is all it should be and the sleek design makes for an awesome look. The fact that they are right above the ankle also sold me on this pair. Since Frye makes a heavier boot, the lower shaft cuts down on the weight. The antique chocolate finish is icing on the cake because the compliments are endless. \r\nOut of all the boots I own, the Frye Harness 8R, are the stand out, and they will probably out last me. Could not be more thrilled with this boot! \r\n\r\n

Fits true to size. Was a little concerned that the toe box was snug but after wearing for a day it fits well.

These Frey boots are perfect for my foot in every way. This is my first pair of really good boots, and looks like I struck gold. I usually wear a 7-1/2, and that's what I ordered. The boots fit as if made for me. Very, very good arch support for my normal arches, and excellent stability. I'm 72 years old with good balance (I do yoga) but I still appreciate this safety feature. My narrow heels move up and down in a natural movement just a bit, but the smooth interior leather in the heel area makes this no problem at all. When I wear some cushioned Woolrich socks it's that much better.I first wore the boots around the house for a few hours, then wore them all day while caring for a toddler. My mini-bootcut jeans look sharp with these boots, but I suspect they would look even better with jeans tucked inside, and there's adequate room for that. I ordered some good quality boot cream so I can take care of these fine boots for many, many years. My daughters all approve of my upgraded style!

These are my new favorite boots! I was looking to replace a pair that have been my trusty travel companions for 13 years, and needed boots that could do it all: dress up, down, walk all day, and above all, have some sass. These were them! They are beautiful with jeans or slacks or long skirts, and after half a day of breaking them in, they were kind to my feet. But what got me hooked from the moment I opened the box was the absolutely delicious smell of rich leather. Wow! I am usually between sizes 8 and 8½, but I wear these in 8 with hiking socks, so I would say they run a touch spacious. Order down if you are in doubt.

Warning: if you buy a pair of Frye boots, you will soon buy another. I'm anxiously awaiting my second pair from Zappos right now. These boots are perfect! I probably should have ordered a half size smaller (not patient enough to return them), but wear thick socks. They look great with skirts, under jeans, with skinny jeans. I'm not terribly tall 5'5 with short legs and big calves, so the taller boots with 14 inch circumference are snug on my calves. These are quite roomy. I wear them almost every day and can't wait until my black boots arrive so I have more variety. You can take the girl out of Texas, but ya better darn well pack her boots.

Have been wanted these boots for a long time. This year I told everybody to give me money or Zappos gift cards for my birthday so I could finally get them. I'm normally a size 10 so ordered a 9 1/2 as per the recommendations. I couldn't get my foot in the boot. Called Zappos and what amazing customer service. They sent out new boots at no charge that were delivered the next day in a size 10. Size 10's were huge. What a bummer. Mother in law suggested wearing nylons to get the 9 1/2's on. I did do that and I did get them on, but they just didn't feel right. Had to send both back. They are beautiful though, amazing quality.

Love these boots! The charcoal color is exactly what I was looking for - basically a distressed black. I went down half a size and it fits perfectly. It was challenging to get my heel in the first time but the boots softened really well after the first wear. I was a little worried it would be too short to look good with skinny jeans but I've already had a lot of compliments on that look. Just beware that this is more of a true, heavy Frye.

Love 'em! So I have a wider foot and I can walk in these a goodly amount of time, but after a while it starts to get rather uncomfortable towards the ball of my foot. But, other than that, I love these! They are so cute on and were just what I was looking for.

There's no better way to say it: these boots rock! I hesitated for months before actually buying, due to the price and my worries that they'd be too cowgirl-ish, but they're perfect! They look great with skinny jeans, leggings, skirts, they are comfortable for all day wear and they are unique without being odd. You can really tell they are a quality boot and I hope to own them for many years. I'm glad I invested in this durable three-season boot. They did take a few wears to get comfortable, but now they're just right. No blistering or aching feet, though. And the Zappos shipping time was warp speed! I swear I'd barely clicked "place order" when they arrived at my door. I'll be spreading the gospel of Frye and Zappos to all my friends now.

These boots are fantastic. They are so well-made. They are quite heavy so I wasn't sure about comfort, but I have worn them all day long on several occasions with great results. I have a small foot - I generally order a 5 in boots, so these are a little roomy for me (Frye sizes start at 5.5), but I just wear thicker socks. The color is fantastic with all shades of denim. These are my new favorite boots.

These are Great Boots! I have other Frye boots, so I know their quality. These are so cool with everything! Dresses, skirts, leggings, jeans, whatever. I decided on the Old Towne Charcoal rather than Black. The Black were harsh and biker-ish compared to the charcoal. The charcoal color is nice and rich looking. Like an old black boot already broken in.

I have these in the tan from last season; I do love them, the color is great -- goes with everything. I ordered 1/2 size down, 7 to 6.5, wore them a full day, and wanted to cut them off after walking in them for hours. Had to sell on eBay and took a loss. I did some research, tried some on in stores and found that for me, 1/2 size up is better considering that I have a bunion on my left foot. These are great with boot socks! A little heavy but they are a substantial boot. Regular size in the harness mule, yay! The Carson, regular size, the Cavalry, up 1/2 size. Hope this helps someone!

Love these. I ordered them in a 7.5 (my normal size). They are too big so I had to order a 7. This color is great! Very varied and marbled. I also order the "tan" and loved those, too. Wish I could keep both. The tan is as dark as these, but without the striations and marbled/vintage looking leather. Great looking boot, too! Again - wish I could've kept both! You can't go wrong with this boot! Had Fryes in the '70s and wore them (through 2 soles!). Nice to have a pair again! Will be back for another sometime soon!

I ride a motor scooter almost daily, and I didn't want to wear full-out motorcycle boots. These Fryes fill the bill. The cowhide is good and thick and doesn't turn all wimpy in damp weather. The charcoal gray is a perfect color choice with jeans and black pants; not too overwhelming. Easy to take off, but they take a little wiggling putting on. These boots are heavy, so think of them as ankle weights. Free workout! Made in the USA. Frye and Vespa is fabulous.

I've wanted these for a long time and ordered a half size smaller as per some of the suggestions. They were snug when I got them so I wore them few times thinking they would stretch but they're still too tight. I'm really disappointed - they don't fit and I wore them already.

As others have stated, these are great boots. They do run a little large, but I ordered a 7.5 to compare and chose to go with the larger size as it was more comfortable. I like the color and style. The only thing that is a little uncomfortable is the weight of this style, but I like it so much I am willing to have them be a little heavy.

These boots rock! They run a bit big, I usually wear 9, but went to 8½. There is still some room, but enough to be comfortable with a sock. They are made impeccably and Fryes never disappoint. Zappos of course, is 5 stars all the way! Love these boots, they will last a lifetime and look super cool!

Don't buy any other brand of harness boot. The style is timeless...yet sometimes you fear that when you go to buy from an old trusted brand, you might find that they've cheapened. Frye doesn't. Frye won't. I bought these harness boots (the 12R, actually) in 2005 in a dark green. After five years of wearing them, at the very least, every other day, I needed a new pair. I got these 8R's today and they're the same amazing boots. Comfortable. Beautiful. Durable. Seriously, don't buy any cheaper versions. You'll be dissatisfied.

I always thought these were so hot looking but I held off because they are pricey, and boots aren't known to be comfy on problem feet like mine. I recently took the plunge, and wow. Good arch support was a major surprise and they look so sharp on. I am 58 and feel like a babe when I wear them. Wonderful soft leather and just the right heel height too. Love them. Zappos had them to me the day after I ordered them. Very happy.
