This past summer my ankle rolled wearing Merrell Moab boots. I fell breaking and dislocating my right wrist which required surgery, attaching a plate with 11 screws to put it all back together. So I started a quest to find a pair of boots to give me the most ankle support without adding too much weight to the boot and still be comfortable. I am a woman with wide feet so most women's models are too narrow for my foot. I always buy mens sizes. Usually a mens 9 medium works for me. After weeks of trying out boots, these boots couldn't even come close to my first place choice Salomon Quest 4D 2 GTX. The comfort and weight of these boots are great, but the ankle support is almost non-existent. The major drawback to this Lowa boot compared to my first place choice is the lack of reinforcement at the ankle. I tried and tried to get these boots to work. I tried alternate lacing, lock lacing, etc. I even got my husband to lace them for me. I simply could not get ankle support. To get proper ankle support you've got to have reinforcement at the ankle in the design and construction of the boot, which these Lowa's do not have. I returned this boot, along with Merrell and Asolo in favor of the Salomon. Happy hiking!

I have worn Lowa boots for hiking for over 22 years. I have done 20+ mile hikes in these with no issue. They are the best in my opinion.

I have narrow feet and boot was snug but comfortable. Arch support is good but not great though this can be fixed with inserts. Very little lateral flexing with this boot and it is fantastic on hilly terrain. The 9" height is also a big plus but not a problem with socks like taller boots. The lacing though is what sets this boot apart from others I have owned including the Solomon boots. There are regular lace hooks followed by a pair of cam lock hooks and then pivoting lace hooks followed by standard lace hooks but with a stud on the tongue that serves two purposes. The laces are wrapped one turn around the stud and then continue to the next set of lace hooks and this keeps the tongue centered and it helps to keep the laces from loosening (at all). These are terrific boots for heavy use on trails or use off trails providing excellent support. I added a pair of Pinnacle inserts to get more arch support but that is something I end up doing with nearly all my boots. As good as Solomon boots but without the problems with the waterproofing. I also have Scarpa boots but they run a lot narrower and this precludes their use with thick socks.

So far this has been a great boot. Minimal break in required. No hot spots fits true to size and width. Shouldn't have to buy a new hunting boot for a while!

This is one of the best boots I ever purchased, used them for hunting in the Rockies and put 9-15 miles a day on. Would of never been able to do this with out this boot. going to purchase a second pair for back up, they are coming up on three years old and still look great and still comfortable. Relatives have them that are 5 years old and going strong.

Excellent boots. Best I’ve ever owned. No hot spots and extremely comfortable right out of the box. I highly recommend these boots for tough hiking trails.

As advertised and priced, this is a serious boot for serious mountain adventures. Can’t speak to durability but these are extremely high quality. Comparable to the other high end hunting/mountaineering boots of this style. Fit was true to size for me. I wish I needed something of this stature but it’s just a little too much boot for my needs.

I wear 10.5 W women size. Ordered 9.5 W men size. The size would be OK, but these shoes are very heavy and stiff. I guess perfect for long backpacking in rugged terrain. I was hoping for something softer but keeping my ankles supported.

Favorite boots ever. I weigh 250 lbs so I like something sturdy. I wore these almost every day to work last winter and they still look new. (Management type job with some outdoor)

Fabulous boots all around. I’ve tried most all of the higher end European boots of this style and these Lowas were by far the best for me. I have narrow, flat, low volume feet and these fit great. A little heavy which is a small price to pay for the incredible support and durability.

I usually wear a 10E (wide) and sized up to the 10.5E on this boot. It's a perfect fit. Still stiff with about 15 miles so far. The sole is stiff like you'd expect for a backpacking boot, the upper is stiff and supportive too, no issues there. The lacing system is what makes this boot a winner! Lace locking that allows a snug fit low keeping your foot in place on downhill sections is important and this boot is flawless. I've tried several high end boots, and this is what sets the Tibet apart from the rest.

This is my first experience purchasing Lowa boots. I am pleased with the quality of materials and workmanship in these Tibet GTX’s. I also found them comfortable pretty much right out of the box. Money well spent I think.

I had a broken Fibula fixed (with metal fixation bar) because I wiped out on my scooter, in China. After 8 weeks recovery I talked my doctor (in Ohio) into letting me switch to a soft ankle brace and these boots. They are very comfortable to wear for long periods. I have bought many hiking boots in my life. These seem the most comfortable fit and yet have good support. I will return to China soon and be wearing these boots along side many Chinese workers, riding to work in their sandals. Ha ha ha

Very nice boot. Nice eyelet hardware. The toe box is a little wider than the Scarpa. The heel box is a little tighter than the Scarpa.

This is my second pair of Lowas I have purchased for back country hunting. The first pair were the Hunter GTXs, almost 7 years ago (and they are still holding up great for their age and use) I went with the Tibets this time for a boot better suited to the warmer, earlier hunting seasons. There isn't much about the Lowa boots that hasn't already been said. They are quality boots that offer excellent support and comfort in steep, nasty conditions. If taken care of properly, they will hold up to many years worth of abuse. The only thing I would suggest it to toss the Lowa insoles as soon as you get them as they are junk for a $350+ boot. I wear a 12 in most every shoe out there, but with a new pair of Lowas, they felt slightly too big for me, and didn't offer very good arch support. Before even attempting to break the boot in, I added a pair of Spenco Total Support Max insoles, and the boots instantly felt to be sized perfectly with great arch support and foot bed cushioning. Get a quality insole such as Spenco or Superfeet paired with these boots, and you won't regret it.

These have been the best boots I have ever purchased. I added a half-size to give some room for wool socks and the fit is perfect. I've had these boots for 5 years and only in the last 6 months have the soles started to separate. I've taken these boots on desert hikes, alpine treks, and work in the field. They have gone through some tough climates, maintained their comfort, and lasted. You couldn't ask for more in a mid-heavyweight boot. I believe buying these boots to be one of the best investments a back country guide can make. I'm spending the money for another pair and hope to get another 5 year lifespan out of them.

Best boots ever! I see about 45 days a year in the mountains and forests hunting every year and have owned all the other boots made by other companies in the same price range. By far these are the best I have owned. Collar to sole comfort and totally great support. No break in required. Plus the boot is available in a wide width that never leaves my foot swimming in extra, un-needed room.

In March, 2013 I accepted an invitation to join a colleague on an early July backpacking trip into the San Juan Wilderness in southern Colorado for some back country fly fishing. The trip would take us up one tributary of the Conejos, a climb up to 12,000 on the Continental Divide Trail and a drop in to another tributary with a final hike out. The trip required three days and two nights on the trail with a load of 30 pounds. I had not shouldered a pack in over 40 years. Over that period I had accumulated significant ankle, knee and back injuries that affect my gate and posture. I knew that I would need a sturdier pair of boots than the Vasque Breeze that I ware on infrequent day hikes. I started researching boots on the web and found many choices. I took over a month to make a selection. Based on reviews and features, I settled on a pair of Lowa Tibet GTX. The boots were a significant investment, but money well spent. Based on reviews I ordered a size larger than my feet measure. The size was perfect with a pair of Goodhew Wayfarer socks. I ordered the boots from Zappos with standard shipping and received them in four business days. The original foot beds were replaced with custom orthotics to alleviate my plantar fasciitis. To prepare for the trip, I spent an hour a day during June on a treadmill at max incline. The boots required very little break-in and were very comfortable after a few sessions. All of the features in Lowa's product description work as described. The SPS wedges controlled my sever pronation. The zone lacing system and the ankle flex provided the perfect combination of stability and freedom of motion. The lug pattern on sole provided excellent traction during off-trail climbs and descents. I started this trek with a fear that my 62 year old feet would breakdown. I finished with absolutely no foot, knee or back pain because of these boots. I cannot praise the quality and functionality enough. I would give them six stars.
