I used to wear these in high school, but I forgot how comfortable they were! If you're looking for a plain white canvas sneaker Jack Purcell is the only way to go. Way more comfy that Chuck's and I love the little blue toe strip.

I love Jack Purcell CPs! Have an old pair in light gray, which is no longer available. Wish you would cary them in more colors; the LP version just isn't the same.

I. Love. This. Shoe. It's got more support than the original Chuck and really stinkin' cute too! I wish it came in more colors, because I'd buy them all!

Wow, Zappos! You are incredible! I mean it. I ordered a 10 1/2 but that seemed a little large. Returned after three weeks (indoor wear) and within a week they fully credited my account with a refund in which I purchased a 1/2 size smaller. I received my shoes the next day and they fit perfectly.. And mind you, this was during the week when the infamous hacker compromised 24 million accounts. All I can say is thank you Zappos for an amazing service and awesome shipping policy... Can't ask for anything better.

These are still classics. They remind me of my high school days. I teach high school and my students loved to see them. They wanted to know where I got them. They do run a tad narrow so you might want to up your size a bit. That is not a serious issue, though.

Classic shoes. More comfortable than the Chuck Taylors and with basically the same look. The only thing I don't love is the price (since I have fond memories of when they were only $20), but I wear them almost every day and they are a great shoe and a good value all things considered.

I've had these shoes for a month and they are fantastic. As others have commented, they are much more comfortable than the All Star shoe; the upper has more cushioning and there is some extra fabric around the ankle. I was worried that this shoe would be slippery on wet floors (it is hard to see the detail of the sole online) but they have proved to be very good on wet surfaces so far. Great shoe and I would recommend them for someone looking for a comfortable, good looking and understated casual shoe.

Love the retro look and pretty comfy too. I have a friend who has worn these for years and she washes them in her washing machine regularly; the canvas just keeps getting softer and more broken in.

I have many pairs of Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars, but this black and white Converse Jack Purcell is my first ever Purcell. Wow! They are like 100% times more comfortable than the regular Converse. These Purcells have so much padding, and they are so supportive. I could actually wear them all day, something that I could never do in Converse Chucks. Great shoe!

Purchased for my 17-year-old son. He loves his Converse! They last 4-6 months per pair with everyday wear.

These were a gift for my son. He has several pairs of Jack Purcell. He rarely wears anything else, more comfortable than Chuck Taylor.

Great shoe! The shoe was generally true to size but a little narrower than similar shoes from other brands, even a little narrower than the Converse Chucks that I own, but not so narrow that it was uncomfortable or unwearable.

These shoes are so cool. They have that killer vintage look and you can dress them up or down. This particular version (CP) is brilliant! A super cushy removable insole does away with that flat foot feeling. You can actually walk in these. Runs true to size for me, however, is a little narrow in the toe box.

I re-discovered Jack Purcells a few years ago and based on the current reviews, I was worried about the changes that Converse has made. I have compared this new pair to an old pair and there are differences. I miss the Jack Purcell signature stitched on the tongue, the most. Without it, the shoes do look pretty basic - lacking that major difference from Chuck Taylors. I thought I would miss the metal tipped shoelaces, but the new laces are a lot thicker and do not come undone constantly. I honestly prefer the insole more to the old one - it is still as comfortable but it feels more cushioned. It does look very generic and I miss the Jack Purcell signature stitched onto it as well (instead of what appears to be screen printed) but it is not that big of a deal. Fm all the negative reviews on Zappos and elsewhere, I was under the impression the shoes were currently made exactly like Chuck Taylors - but that is just not true. They still have the removable insole, they still have the smiley face and if anything the shoes fit a lot better than in the past (I do not have to half size up anymore) I would love it if Converse would put them in the retro box with Jack Purcell himself on the top (that I have seen on the Converse Japan website) or at least include a tag (like you get with high top Chuck Taylors) but oh well. I do agree that Converse has gone downhill since Nike bought the company, but these are my favorite shoes and only hardcore Jack Purcell fans would notice any differences.

I'm so bummed! NOT ZAPPOS FAULT! Converse changed the design of their Jack Purcell's. I have been wearing this shoe for 30 years. Converse about 5-7 years ago upgraded the Jack Purcell by adding padding on the inside of the tongue and collar. That was a huge plus for the shoe. It's gone now! They changed the insole too. The new insole is thicker and covers up the two grommet ventilation holes on the inside of the arch. No more embroidered Jack Purcell tongue, different rubber logo at the heel and super cheap laces, too! Very disappointed with Converse! My next call is to Converse to ask what in the world they were thinking down grading this iconic shoe.

These have been my main sneakers ever since 8th grade (I'm a junior in college now). I have owned and worn at least 20 pairs of the black low top Jack Purcells. These sneakers go with everything. I absolutely loved these sneakers...but recently the ones being produced by Converse have become very cheap in quality. I assume Converse is trying to cut corners to minimize costs and bring in profit but to abandon loyal customers such as myself is inexcusable. The change that bothers me the most is that the new laces that come with these Jack Purcells today are no longer the durable metal-tip laces that were characteristic of Jack Purcells, these new laces are cheap and get dirty and worn out in a few days. I have to find a new pair of sneakers to replace these as my main pair of sneakers.

I have owned 5 pairs of these. They used to be much nicer than generic Chucks, more comfortable, with arch support, lined, and just generally better quality. No more. Just awful junk. Sad.

Having bought dozens of pairs of the Jack Purcell line of Converse through the years, I was more than apprehensive when I found out that Nike bought the legendary company. I am very sad that my go-to classic shoe, the Converse Jack Purcell classic canvas shoe as I knew and loved it, is no more. A side-by-side comparison to my collection of them shows these changes: Nike/Purcell has gone narrow in look and in actual width of the shoe across the ball of the foot. I am a true medium and these hurt. The “smile” is now flush instead of inset. The once amazing, cushiony, Purcell inserts with excellent arch support that we paid a premium over the standard Converse All Stars is gone! Now they have a flat insert just like the uncomfortable All-Stars. The quality cotton laces that used to have metal tips have been replaced by cheap, synthetic-feeling laces with clear plastic tips. The fabric “Jack Purcell” logo that was sewn in the insert is gone and just a cheap printed flat insert. Some of the shoe’s heritage like the light blue sole with the navy and red Jack Purcell inset remain, but in the interest of cheapening the shoe and still charging the same premium price, I wonder how long that will last. The new owners, Nike, have ruined this shoe and the Jack Purcell line has been cheapened. Now I have to find a replacement for my go-to shoes or hope I can find some original, new old-stock on resale websites. I am utterly heartbroken.

BEWARE! Converse has changed this shoe. No longer has embroidered tongue, laces are cheap without the metal tips, the sidewall has a cheaper construction, and the sole has changed. Don't expect your old Jacks when you purchase these.

I feel duped and should’ve listened to other reviews. These are NOT the same jacks I’ve been purchasing and wearing for the past 20 years. Too many differences to list. Bottom line they now seem cheaply made and definitely not worth the $60 price. Better off with regular converses.

These were a huge Train wreck for the brand! I have owned over 140 pairs of Jack Purcell tennis shoes since the 1970's. Approximately seven years ago they made some tremendous improvements which justified a price increase. Now they have stripped those away and cheapened the shoes back to what they used to be. Plus the fit of the toe cap is completely different causing some irritation when flexed (by taking a step). The shoes are not worth much at all and I am completely dissatisfied with the changes. I will not be back until I see the classic shoes that once were a stable in my casual wardrobe.
