Very cute shoe; way too big - I had to eventually get a full size smaller than I usually wear. Luckily, Zappos has the best customer service ever and quickly shipped me the smaller size. The shoe is very cute and a great price for leather. Your typical Converse sneaker - cute, but not very functional. I wear these to brunch, not to play tennis.

Jack Purcell - I love these! I bought mine in leather. I am always between an 8.5 or 9. In sandals I usually go with the 9 (I have a flat and wide foot). I read the reviews (thankful for them) and decided I would get the size 8 since everyone said they run big. Well they do run big. I could've gone with 7.5, but I kept mine because they feel good with socks. Since my foot is wide I tend to put a "shape" into my gym shoes, but these are the kind of shoes that will never do that. I love these. They are cushy, comfortable and there is no breaking in period.

Beautiful, but tight. I have one major gripe with these shoes: they are way too narrow in the toes. I have a good half inch from my big toe to the end of the shoe yet my pinky toes are really squished in there after walking or standing for a few hours it becomes painful. The first two weeks I had blisters but they're starting to give a little. I figured they'd stretch and break in, but now I'm starting to wonder if they'll ever be comfortable. I don't even have very wide feet. It's too bad because these shoes look great, and they're a great alternative to Chuck Taylors as the modern internal upgrades make them much more comfortable for anyone but people with the flatest feet. Just make sure your feet are narrow too.

Narrow for a wide foot - Love the look! These will always be a classic! They go great with jeans, khakis, or slacks.

The design is really great, but as expected of a pair of fashion shoes, it really hurts to walk around in these. Initially, the leather near the heel was also quite stiff as it carved into my skin if I wore no-show socks.

I ordered this a half size smaller than I normally wear, because I have the canvas version and assumed (correctly) the leather version, too, would be on the large side. The shoe is cute but I'm returning these because they just feel cheap. Unlike the Zappos description, it does NOT have a removable insole. More disturbingly, the "leather" feels to me suspiciously like something manmade. The label says "Made in China"; I'm wondering what sort of quality control Converse has been doing, if any. I think Converse and Zappos both need to inspect the shoes they're receiving so that they don't sell cheap knock-offs.

These were weirdly huge. Women's 8.5 is already half a size smaller than my regular shoe size and I had a good inch between the end of my foot and the front of the shoe. Otherwise they were extremely comfortable and they look great. I only gave it 3 stars for inconsistent sizing.

Even though I ordered my usual sizing these shoes were far too large. I ordered women's 8.5 but could probably use a 7.5. Bummer. Will need to return these.

These feel like regular Chucks only bigger. Size down at least a half size maybe a full size...I don't know, I just returned them. The Jack OX version with the cork insert is a bit more comfy than these.

I ordered these as a gift for my husband. He already owned a pair of Chuck Taylors and a canvas pair of Jack Purcells. He says these are the most comfortable of the three. He does not wear these for comfort, but for style. These are not for athletic activities or walking around all day in.

Shoes came without embroidery on tongue as pictured. Returned for exchange. Customer service rep said would make sure warehouse checked before shipping. Exchange pair received. Same problem: no embroidery on tongue.

I second Anonymous from Wisconsin's sentiment regarding the current iteration of the sneaker. I've been wearing Jack Purcells for nearly 25 years and welcomed the improvements Converse made with the "CP" and leather models. For some reason (cost cutting?) Converse completely redesigned them this year and they are now less comfortable and less well-made. I'll probably still buy them, albeit less enthusiastically. No complaint with Zappos (great price, very fast shipping) but they should definitely update the pictures.

This shoe feels like lamb skin. Only upon bringing it to my face could I tell it was synthetic. Needless to say, no one will know that it's not the real deal. The shoe is not flashy but stylish, nonetheless. For those who like understated style, this is your shoe!

Great shoe, slightly worried about durability - I've worn Jack Purcells for years, and purchased this leather version just to have a slightly nicer option in the same style. They look and feel great, but after wearing them only three or four times, the shiny leather exterior is starting to peel off the leather itself, almost like a little rubber layer. It's just happening around the collar right now, but it's definitely a bummer.

Not like the others . . . I like the classic look of the shoe. I can dress em up or down. I’ve ordered three different types of Purcell’s over the past couple of years and I’ve always get a size 11 and they fit. However, for some reason, this shoe seems to be much larger than the others I’ve purchased. Can’t call it, but they're almost unwearable.

It's been a few years since I bought my last pair of Purcells, and Nike now owns the brand. The shoe still fits well, a little wide which is great for my foot and why I buy the brand. The make of the show is different, though. The leather seems stiffer and cheaper, the laces are standard-issue Chuck Taylor (not the higher-end laces Purcells used to ship with), and the sole is no longer removable. It seems like Nike has cut a lot of corners for what was a high-quality shoe. I am pretty disappointed.

I love, love love the look of these leather Jack Purcells. Unfortunately the back edge of the heel cut into my foot. They were also a little narrow across the ball of the foot.

The product video shows the insole being removed, but it was glued in quite firmly on the pair I received in August 2018. I would not have ordered the shoe had I known this was the case. I picked it specifically for the removable insole. I found these to be narrower at the toe than previous Converse and the top of the ankle is quite stiff. They need a break-in period. While the shoes are "cool" looking like most Converse, they are not at all supportive. Note that there is absolutely zero arch support, and the soles are extremely flexible, which isn't good for anyone who needs a well-made walking shoe. I'd love to keep wearing Converse, but their quality has not kept up with their prices, and they don't offer anything for people who need supportive shoes. It would be so easy to fix this and appeal to all of their customer base. I"ve heard so many people say the same thing about this brand.

My first pair of navy leather Jack Purcell's were amazing, they were a men's size 6. I wear a US women's size 7.5 to 8 in sneakers. Depending on the fit. I wore them biweekly for four years. The soles finally gave out. Fast forward to 2018. I'm searching for white leather sneakers and find the Converse Jack Purcell in white leather. I read the reviews and purchase the men's size 6 to fit a women's 8. I walked on carpet hoping they would feel like my past Converse leather Jack Purcell's that were comfortable from the onset. Loved the look but they felt stiff, the tongue pushed at the front of my ankle area. The toe bed seemed too long. I felt where my toes were and both shoes were a half size too long. The ankle cutout area was stiff and hit the ankle bone of my left foot. The heel area began to rub with the first steps. Sent this pair back and purchased a half size down. Unfortunately these are going back as well. The fit in the toe bed was better due to the size change but the same stiffness and heel rubbing were in this shoe as well. Sadly I agree with other reviews that the quality of the shoe isn't as good as the past.

I usually wear a women's size 8 in Converse so I ordered accordingly. These shoes were way too big -- the 8 fit my relative who wears a 9-9.5. The shoe itself was fine, although the quality of the stitching was not great given the high cost and the leather seemed a bit worn. I returned them and decided to purchase the canvas Jack Purcell's.

I bought these to replace my worn out grey Chucks, which I loved. Unfortunately, these shoes are not a good replacement - they are extremely preppy. They would be great for yachting, a nice game of croquet, or hanging out with your in-laws in Cape Cod. They just don't have much versatility if you want to do anything else. On the plus side, they have a nice comfortable foot bed that the Chucks don't have. But, my toes are much more squished and with all the rubber, stretching isn't a possibility.

This is my third pair of black leather Jack Purcell's. I didn't notice until they arrived but the quality has dropped. The leather is thinner. The older pairs were black on the inside and had black rubber soles, which visually looks better than having tan appearing. It also had "Jack Purcell labeled on the flap and now it's plain. The inside also now has the name of the shoe printed on vs. before they had a tag sewn into the heel.
