This is the most awesome work shoe I have ever bought. Lightweight, comfortable, weatherproof and it has made my work day a joy again. No more pain in my feet or knees. Everyone comments on them as to how great they look too.

I just got these boots and my initial reaction is they look amazing, they are light, solid construction, and good lacing design. The fit: I am a mens 10 with normal width. The boot in a 10 has a solid heel, snug around the forefoot, and plenty of room in the toe. With a high quality insole the extra room fills in and I think the forefoot will break in and be comfortable. The 10 1/2 was loose in the heel, felt good up front, but would likely break in and be too big.

Great boot! Extremely comfortable! And they look great. I bought these to replace a similar pair that my feet outgrew. Love them and recommend them highly.

This is the best pair of boots that I have owned and I have had a bunch. I have had these for a year now and wore them as casual boots all last winter and then on a backpacking trip in the High Uintas this summer and and after seven days and four passes my feet felt great. You get what you pay for and these are definitely worth the price.

While most people are really concerned merely with size and arch support, it must be understood that the Asolo Fugitive boots stand out from the rest of their line for one other important aspect. These boots are made to prevent Over-Supination and Over-Pronation. This is definitely critical to all hikers at certain times but it is also extremely important to individuals who have medical issues with one or the other of those situations (all of the time). I personally have had a severe injury from a car crash (my foot folded over laterally while on the brake pedal) and have had multiple reconstructive surgeries. Given this, you'd think that the rigid Fugitives would be brutal on someone in that condition. They are not, however. Many say that walking barefoot is a good way to strengthen your ankles and retrain your gait. The Fugitives are very much like that; given their rigidity. They feel like a perfectly shaped ankle brace. I have tried many different boots and ended up tying them so tight (for support) that they would break shoe laces and stretch uppers made of leather. These boots would last a few months. These boots use nylon uppers to eliminate stretch and I employ paracord for laces nowadays, but the correct fitting 'last' does not require as much tension to achieve support. All in all, if you have a similar issue, it might be worth trying these boots despite the counter-intuitive nature of wearing stiff boots. I feel a lot better after wearing these and I notice that while other people pound their heels when they walk, I walk silently; which means I am not shocking my joints. I would also recommend you try some high quality wool socks to complement (and tweak) the level of cushion you need (and sizing). I have worn my Fugitives for several years now and they are still going strong. Going to buy another pair from Zappos in a half size larger. Asolo please keep this type of boot in production! Cheers.

Ordered these for my hiker husband, who has always worn Asolo boots and found them to be very comfy. Sadly, these don't fit like all his others have. Might try wide width in the same size.

I bought the Fugitive GTX to replace my Salomon Wings GTX almost 2 years ago. I only use them for hiking and rainy days. First of all, I really loved the Salomons. They were super light weight and felt great. That is, until I quickly wore the soles down and my feet would begin to bruise. I went through 2 pairs in 3 years. I picked up a pair of Asolos at REI's too try something different. That was 2 years ago and they are still holding up fine. I hike steep, rocky and very rugged terrain. I also walk a lot of lava caps which are common in the Sierra foothills, and very rough on boots. The Asolos are tough. They are also quite rigid with great support. I still can't feel the surface texture under my foot after 2 years even though the tread is starting to wear off. They also still look great. There is no sole separation or unraveling of materials or stitching. I have a wide foot but D width actually worked. There was no nasty surprise in the sizing. All in all, it's a long wearing, good looking boot with tons of lasting support. Plus it's made in the Ukraine. How cool is that?

We bought these boots for my son who recently started college in a snowy climate. They got their initial testing in Montana. According to my son, his feet were warm and dry the entire visit. They fit true to size (no need to size up for thick socks) and are extremely comfortable. Pricy, but worth it!

Can't speak to long term durability yet but initial quality seems good. Very comfortable. Doesn't appear to need any break in time. Did a short 5 mile hike the first day I got and felt great! Look forward to putting many miles on on the spring.

I have had my set of Fugatives for going on 10 years. I love these boots, and they have proven to be the longest lasting boot I've bought. They are actually off getting resoled right now. I am looking at adding a second set in the spring. I haven't done any big expedition, but plenty of weekend backpacking, day hikes, and hunting in them. I reach for these anytime the weather is cold, and walking the dogs.
I broke them in on a couple of day hikes, and they are molded to my foot now. Thats why I am having them resoled, they are apart of me now.
The boots have always performed perfectly. Never leaked, and the only time I got wet the water was deeper than it looked. I use these year round, and on the annual ski trips. They don't weigh too much, and look good with jeans for a dinner out in town.

I purchased these boots for an upcoming hiking trip to the Grand Canyon and to Rocky Mountain National Park. I bought the boots in a men's size 10, since none were available in a woman's size 12. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to break the boots in before our trip, and I was worried about them giving me blisters. Thankfully the shoes were very comfortable and I didn't get any blisters at all, despite hiking for 6 hours two days in a row at the beginning of the trip. The shoes were very comfortable and had good support. The boots were also very breathable, and were comfortable in desert heat and in colder, snowy conditions. I would definitely recommend these shoes to others.

I took a risk and put some serious miles on these boots without ever having "worn them in." These boots are brilliant. Just spent a week climbing and trekking at 13,200 feet in Colorado. Feet stayed dry, warm, and didn't get a single hot spot, even with snow shoes on. I did slap a little wax on the upper nylon areas before hand so I can't attest to how dry they'd stay if I hadn't done that. Couldn't be happier about my purchase.

Perfect for deploying to Afghanistan. As with all Asolos, order a half size bigger. Rugged and they last. Have used them in both cold and hot weather.

These are the best boots that I have ever worn. You might need squishy inserts if you have sensitive feet, but they are great overall.

This is my first pair of Fugitives, and so far I am very happy with the purchase. I'm using the boots for farm work (boots get covered in mud and water most days) and they're holding up well after 3 months. Most boots last a year for me...they're decent the first 6 months and then go downhill after that. Hopefully these hold up better.

I normally do not fill out reviews. However, I have been searching for an excellent work boot for years. This is the one. Previous attempts included: Lowa Renegade, Wolverine, Ecco Sayan, Vasque Caldera and Keen Newport. Whew! I am 6'4" and 260 lbs and work my boots hard. The laces are way better than average (but no extra pair as some Asolo's might have). The rubber sole appears to be more solid than other boots and more wear resistant. The nylon or kevlar? stiffener material on the sides makes the boot stiffer and stronger. After 3 months, these are still in good shape and should outlast all the others by a long shot. They are more expensive, but appear to be well worth it.

Bought this hiking boot for my African Safari's - decided to break them in during a full day photoshoot in my studio and on location. First time I wore them was the full 12 hour day, and they were exceptional. No fatigue, no soreness, no pressure points, totally comfortable to the point I completely forgot about them. Plus my feet were able to breath even in the hiking socks. Great first impression. Very pleased

I have just purchased my second pair of these boots. I bought my first pair at REI in Reno, Nevada and hiked all around Lake Tahoe and the Sierras for over three years. I now live in New Zealand, and have hiked through the Fiordlands and the Great Walks. I literally walked the boots to death after hundreds of miles. I simply wore them out. They are very comfortable and can be worn for long distances. They are also comfortable enough to just wear daily. The Gore-Tex never failed with age, and the overall construction was very durable. They provide very good support through lacing and very good traction. They are probably better for slightly narrower feet or if you have narrow heels. As with any boots, if you do distance, go half a size larger. They can accommodate a more custom footbed/insole, but not something really thick. I personally have not owned better boots of this type. I also have and use Asolo TPS 520 GV. Give this a serious look for full grain leather heavier backpacking boots. They are just as comfortable. I have also owned: Scarpa (good but not a fan), Lowa, Merrell (comfortable, fit like running shoes, but less durable), Vasque, Garmont (big fan, especially of their low cut Gore-Tex models), and a couple of others that do not deserve mention. I hope this helps.

I originally had Power Matics and they were amazing, these come close. They don't lace as well, though, and it's a little snug on my right foot, but still a pretty good boot.

The box was marked 9 1/2 wide but the boot in the box was not a wide shoe and the tag on the inside of the shoe did not designate that this was a wide shoe like all my other boots.

Great hiking shoes. I put 8 miles in them hiking half dome when they were still brand new and they were great. They are heavy, but what hiking shoes is not.
I do feel the colors were fun, but a black pair would have definitely made them look less large on my small feet. Great quality and comfortable brand. My husband owns an pair and I will be getting our young son some in the near future.

First, I love these boots, very well made. They are perfect for any environment you will encounter. They are pretty stiff right out of the box. I took them out on a short three mile ruck run. I wore my very thin 5.11 socks and had some hot spots on the outer part of my toes. I was ready to look for a different pair. I did two things that made a huge difference. I while at REI they told me they had a tool to help stretch them out in the toe box and I got medium cushion wool socks by smartwool. Wow, world of difference. I would not suggest these boots to to others to run in because of how stiff the sole is. The sole is perfect for tough terrain and there is a ton of ankle support which is what they are intended for. I just am super rough on my gear and in a pinch I want to know I can move quick and in a hurry to a better location.

These would be the perfect boots if they came with better soles. Comfortable, lightweight, waterproof; unfortunately, the soles on mine wore down very quickly, and they never had good traction to begin with. I'm looking into options for having mine re-soled with Vibrams.
