Great Shoe, Good Price -
I purchased the 10-WW in the wood color. Which actually isn't as bright as it looks. I picked this shoe because of the EVA Mid-sole (you can see in the picture, the gray matter between the sole and the upper shoe). The sole is actually rubber and not polyurethane which makes for good traction.
I bought this shoe to replace my 3-year-old Thom Mcan leather ones. Granted this shoe needed some breaking in but once that was accomplished it feels great. The best part of this shoe is it's waterproof, great for the winter. I wear khakis and a dress shirt so when it comes to snow these look good, feel good, and are functional. The rubber sole’s outsole pattern actually helps in griping snow when walking.
To maximize comfort I put the new Dr.Scholes "Gellin" comfort pads in the bottom. They certainly help. Even with the EVA mid-sole it’s a little stiff. That's the reason for the “4” in comfort. Overall, a good shoe.

Another quality Rockport shoe -
I was bummed when I found out that Rockport had discontinued their Oklamhoma Storm Chaser line. I had liked these shoes so much that I bought four pairs of them and they last me almost four years and I do a large amount of walking on a daily basis.
The Northfields seem to be a worthy follow up on the Oklahomas. They are comformtable and waterproof which is very important when walking through the slush of a Chicago winter. The soles I think are even better than the Oklahoma as they have a big more traction. I would highly recommend the Northfield.

Nice shoe -
Everything I expected in a Rockport. I have had lots of positive comments on this shoe and everybody has recognized this shoe as a Rockport.

A Very Comfortable Shoe -
I highly recommend the Northfield. I was originally going to purchase the Brooklands, but Zappos did not have my size, so I selected the Northfield as my second choice and am very happy with the shoe. There was not break in time as the shoes were comfy right out of the box. I wore these to Europe the second week I had them with no regrets. I was originally going to spend the big $ for a pair of Mephistos, and may still yet, but for 1/3 the price, the Northfield cannot be beat.

Very Comfortable and comes in narrows!
This shoe is great! The shoe looks great, is water proof but unlike the feldspar style from Rockport this one is not hot in warm weather. Also thankfully this comes in a narrow which not many companies make and or carry. Note the narrow fits well with a crew sock so it does not run really narrow. Great Overall

Zappos is the best -
I have a narrow foot that is hard to find B width shoes. I used to occasionally be able to get Rockport narrow shoes at the local outlet. They stopped carrying that size two years ago so I attempted to get it from Rockport.com only to be disappointed as well. Luckily I found Zappos! I have worn this shoe for 2 weeks now and it is as solid as my old pair. The soles provide good support and protection if you are on your feet all day. It is also waterproof which is great now the fall dews are on the grass! My only complaint is that the sole looks a bit industrial but don't be discouraged these shoes lasted my 3 years previously and I'm still using the old pair as waterproof workshoes.

As a college instructor, I am on my feet a lot each day. True to Rockports, these shoes were very comfortable the first time I wore them.

These are the most heavenly shoes I have ever put on my feet. I love them. I work for UPS and always on my feet. these are the only shoes that did not make my feet hurt. Thank you. I love you.

I bought the Nubuck version and they look great. These take a bit longer to break-in than some shoes, but are quite comfortable after a couple weeks of wear. I also like that these shoes have decent treads, unlike most of the similar alternatives.

The Rockport Northfield fit well. The heel does not have any/much padding so it took a few days to get past a slight heel irritation. The soles are definitely soft so your building janitor will hate you because these will leave marks very easily on the floor. I suspect they will likewise wear out faster, but I've only had for two months so far.
The shoes are waterproof, but at the cost of not being breathable either. My feet sweat, and this has already caused an odor problem in these shoes. I will have to invest in better insoles to deal with this. I never noticed an odor problem after a full year of wearing my previous shoes, so the odor was a surprise!
As others have mentioned this shoe is not quite as nice looking as the picture would indicate. Definitely a casual shoe, and a bit plain looking (at least in black).
I'm content that these shoes will last me through the winter and keep my feet dry from the elements and give me good traction in snow/ice conditions - but will need to buy something else for summer that is more breathable and with a more durable sole. By the way, this was my first time buying through Zappos and I will look here first for shoes in the future!

Very comfortable, but also very plain. Looks like a sawed off work boot, but are light as a feather.

Good overall shoes -
Not a bad shoe. Lighter than the Feldspar without sacrificing the comfort. I ordered the black ones a couple of weeks ago and I just went ahead and ordered the dark brown ones.

Unfortunately the shoes felt like they were not the same size. Additionally, the edge under the ankle was so sharp it immediately cut into my ankle bone; no amount of "break in time" would have fixed this very uncomfortable fit.

I gave this one star for Style because the dark brown shoe advertised is actually a light brown, sort of caramel color. Not close to the dark brown pictured on Zappos. Comfort was great so I'll order again in black.

Nice comfy shoe for my work days as a doorman in Manhattan. However, cannot believe how quickly the heel is wearing down. Durability in question.

These are very comfortable shoes, and they're great when you first get them...but if you walk on any kind of hard surface (i.e., anything but carpet, really) the heels will wear down pretty quickly. I'm an underpronator, so my heels wore down severely on the outside, and now I have shoes that exacerbate my underpronation. Before the heels wore down they were fantastic, but after...they're borderline dangerous, at least to my ankles.

My first Rockport disappointment -
Generally, I've had nothing but perfect experiences with Rockport shoes, which I've usually been able to buy nearly sight unseen.
This shoe has several problems for me. Most serious is the fact that, unlike many other Rockports I've owned, this one felt very narrow and tight across the top of my foot, and has never really felt like a good fit. I'm very sorry that I didn't wear them around the carpet for a few more hours before taking them to work; a wider show in the same style might have been a lot more comfortable.
Less serious but still annoying is the ease with which this shoe's finish scuffs. Since I wasn't really looking for a shoe to put a spit shine on, I haven't loaded it up with shoe polish. But even light to moderate pressure with a fingernail is enough to put a nasty, cloudy scuff on the leather; obviously any incidental contact with furniture, other people's shoes, etc. really mark them up. A quick buff with a brush neatens them up, but it seems like it only takes ten minutes before they look beaten up again.
Hopefully I'll have better luck with another size and style...I haven't give up on Rockport!

The size was the same good fit as in past iterations of this shoe, but the insole padding has now been reduced to a thin strip that provides none of the comfort of past versions. If Rockport adds a cushion insole -- at the current price -- to make this shoe as comfy as its predecessor, I'll buy it. But the current version's sole isn't comfortable, so I'm returning the shoes for a refund. I won't let Rockport cut its cost and pass the expense on to me by forcing me to spend $20 on a good cushion 3rd-party insole.

Fatal flaw. THese shoes are very comfortable. I bought them specifically becuase they are waterproof. However, the fatal flaw is that if you wear them in the rain or wet conditions it is like wearing ice skates. The soles are terrible, absolutely no wet weather traction. I've fallen a couple of times when i've worn these when it is wet out. Now only wear when weather forecast calls for dry weather, kinda defeats the purpose of having waterproof shoes.

I was alternating between these shoes and a similar pair of Nunn Bush Tomah Plain Toe Chukka Boots for only around six months, and the bottoms of both pairs wore away to the point where I feel it's genuinely unsafe to wear them. On asphalt and concrete, they are fine, but if it rains and you happen to step on the white paint of a crosswalk or something similar, it becomes dangerously slippery. Just today I happened to step where a small bit of ice melted on the linoleum floor at work, and I slipped and nearly lost my balance and fell. I cannot trust these shoes and do not trust the Rockport brand.

I'm a technician with a walking territory in downtown so I walk a ton all year round. I have to say that Rockport is pushing the "false advertising" envelope with this shoe! They put "Waterproof" in the name, on all sides of the box and lid, on a huge label on the bottom of each shoe, on a tag attached to the laces, it was even printed all over the tissue paper that the shoes were wrapped in inside the box. They are so waterproof that you can step right in a puddle, but be careful stepping back out of it because you could very easily slip and fall. That's right, what good is a shoe being so waterproof if you can't even wear it in wet weather without the constant fear of losing your footing? These are the most slippery shoes I have ever worn at work, and after 16+ years working downtown you can imagine how many pairs of shoes that is. I am very disappointed with this shoe and will be looking for a replacement soon.

After only a couple weeks of wearing these shoes the front toes have no Nubuck finish on them. It started to appear dark and shiny almost immediately. The shoes are also covered with tiny spots even though they are supposed to be waterproof. The point of this review is that the customer service at Zappos is AMAZING. I wrote a note this morning to ask about the warranty on the shoes and to see about returning them. Not only did Zappos respond within the hour but they issued a full credit, no need to return the shoes, no pictures needed and NO expectation of anything from me. I can't tell you how refreshing it is to deal with a company as amazing as this. I will continue to purchase ALL our shoes from Zappos.
