HAD to wear hiking boots after ankle surgery - I had an unfortunate accident involving my right ankle about 4 years ago, which resulted in five surgeries over a period of 13 months to correct the severe damage I had suffered. After months of recuperation, my doctor said I could stop wearing the "big black ortho-boot" only if I would wear a good pair of hiking boots to support my ankle. I work as an RN in a busy ambulatory surgical center and I am on my feet standing and walking all day, so a good pair of comfortable shoes are a must even without an ankle injury. I couldn't find a good pair of hiking boots in my area so I searched the internet, found Zappos and ordered the Columbia Arctic Glide boot. I had my order within two days with free shipping (both ways) although I did not return them. I've never worn hiking boots before, never even tried a pair on, so I was quite surprised they were so comfortable and definitely had the support I needed. I wore these boots EVERY DAY for about 18 months, even in the smoldering, steamy summer heat here in central Louisiana because I HAD to. I wore them five days a week to work (with shoe covers over them), to the grocery store, and even to church (with pants not a dress!) Everyone began to call me "Boots", because no one in this area wears hiking boots just because they want to. I had one lady stop me in a clothing store to say she just loved my 'style'! I explained to her that I HAD to wear these boots because of an injury, but she thought I looked real cool with these boots on. I can't say enough good about these boots. They never hurt my feet from the first day. There was never a 'breaking in' period, and they got me through a nightmare of a time in my life. Also, can't complain at all about the customer service at Zappos. They've been great.

Great Boots - Even on the coldest day this year (-30s) these boots kept me warm and happy. And my feet are usually like icicles.

I should have listened to everyone else and bought a half size larger, especially since I have slightly wide feet. I agree that the shoes are a bit snug, especially around the top front. I exchanged for the larger size, and I think they'll be perfect after I break them in. Thanks, Zappos, for the help with the exchange and speedy service!

first and last - I bought these boots and never going to buy any other only these again. Look is awsome, fit good. My athletic shoes are 7.5 so I ordered 8.5 what is good and after breaking them they will be perfect (I have high arch so they felt little tight at that area). Very warm, good for very cold winters; no need for double layer of socks.

Great boot - I am very happy with this boot and love it. I can even wear a heavier sock, but the boot is very warm and do not need it. Very happy with delivery and return policy.

Columbia's Arctic Glide - What a fabulous company to deal with. Columbia Arctic Glide - I normally wear a 6 but I got a 6.5 in the event I need to wear a heavy sock. They fit very well, and are very warm, actually much warmer than I expected. You really don't need thick socks with these boots.

I bought these for the peace corps, they're awesome. I usually wear a 7.5 or 8, but bought an 8.5 and they fit great with wool socks. A bit stiff, I'm breaking them in before I have to actually use them.

The Arctic Slide is true to size. I tromped in snow for several hours and never got cold feet. The high boot allows for great stability and therefore no blisters like I got with my Colombia Bugaboo's.

Columbia makes great boots - I ordered the Bugabootoo first as that was I had bought my husband in the mens line earlier. He loves his. I found mine to be very comfortable but I didn't like the blue and white color combo I had ordered so I sent them back. When I came to order a different color these ones were on sale and I liked the look better and they were originally a more expensive shoe. Very comfy, probably more so than the Bugabootoo at the bit where the top of the boot meets your calf - though there is still some getting used to the nature of this kind of shoe. Great in the snow - great looking and of course as you all know Zappos is a girls best friend! I ordered half a size larger to fit thick socks though I believe it would run true to size.

Five stars for Zappos service and five stars for the boots. I found this site by chance and ordered the boots late on a Sunday night. They arrived at my door early Tuesday morning! Great service. The boots are very well made, warm and attractive. I am very pleased with this product and would recommend it to others.

Warmth and Comfort - Fantastic boot! Warmth at -20, more flexible than most other 6" boots and it doesn't look "bulky" like Sorrel's. Columbia Products do run a half size smaller than your regular shoe size so order 1/2 size larger. As for Zappos, what can I say? They are the best on the net. I needed to return the a different pair of boots I ordered. FREE shipping both ways - no questions asked - and these boots arrived in 2 days! Their prices can't be beat! They are #1 on my list!

PERFECT FIT !!!!! These boots fit perfectly and are true to size. They lace up easily and so far have kept all the snow from going into my boots. I highly recommend them. I have a wide foot and they fit perfectly.

AWESOME SERVICE ZAPPOS - I'll start by saying Zappos is awesome! I can't say enough. I ordered my boots at 8:00 last night (I chose standard 4-5 day shipping) They arrive the next moring at 11:00 a.m. Zappos upgraded my shipping at no addional cost. As for the boots they seem to run a little snug more so in the upper foot area. I don't have room for an extra pair of socks or thick socks. They are rated for -45 so I should be fine with regular socks anyway. I'm going to wear them around the house today to see how they feel. I can always send them back free of charge. Keep up the good work Zappos! I am going to tell everyone I know about Zappos!

Artic Glide - As a rule -- functional footware bores me, I live in stiletto heels. That being said, these boots are actually quite cute! They have a very soft footbed and sides. Although the boot runs true to size I added a shoe insert for more arch lift. Their athletic styling makes them more visually pleasing than typical rubber and faux fur winter boots. I have worn these several times already and have found them to be light, warm, and comfortable. Even though they are not stiletto heels, they keep me from landing on my tush in the snow and ice. I recommend the Artic Glides.

Great Boot/ This boot is fabulous light, warm and comfy boot. I wear an 8 to an 8.5 and I ordered an 8.5 which they fit great; and as for Zappos WOW! I Placed the order Monday night and recieved the boots Tuesday afternoon--you guys are incredible. Thanks.

Great Boots - It's hard to keep warm in Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, MA at the New England Patriots football games but these boots kept my feet warm and dry ALL night. They are comfortable and not too bulky to have on for for 8 - 10 hours of tailgating and games. They're awesome and WARM. I ordered a half size bigger so I could wear two pairs of socks. My feet were toasty.

Better than expected - These boots are so soft and warm that I cant wait for winter! I know I'll stay dry and warm!

Fantastic Boots--Fantastic Company!! These boots are awesome. Living in Arizona, I've learned that boots insulated against cold are equally insulated against heat--and these cute, durable, and lightweight boots keep my feet very comfortable all day. What really impresses me though is Zappos. I had originally ordered the boots in a 6, and they were a bit too snug (I wear anywhere between a 5-7, depending on the shoe)... so I sent them back. Not only was the return shipping free, they put a rush on the size 7 replacements at no additional charge to me at all!! This to me is exceptional service. I've pretty much given up on all the other shoe sites out there!!

Great shoes! Zappos upgraded me to 2nd day air from the normal 5-7 day shipping option I had chosen. The shoes arrived 2 days after the order had been placed. Used them today in the ice storm here in MA and couldn't be happier with thier performance. Light, comfortable and very warm! I also liked how these shoes grip ice, snow and slush! Highly recommended!

Great fit & comfortable - I have small/narrow feet and was concerned that this shoe would be bulky and uncomfortable, but they're actually quite comfy. These shoes will definitely help during those cold & snowy days in Minnesota.

WOW! I haven't had a new pair of snow boots in over 10 years, my old LL Bean pair held up so well. But this year, I needed to upgrade! What an upgrade! This is like going from a standard room in an EconoLodge to a Ritz suite! They're so lightweight, so comfortable and so not bulky looking! In fact, they're really nice looking boots. I wore them around the house for a couple of hours when they arrived. Didn't want to take them off! And for someone who prefers a beachside vacation for the winter, I'm actually looking forward to the snow and seeing these boots perform. Thanks for the free shipping too, Zappos. Nice touch.

Comfy - I wear a size 6.5 so I ordered a 7.0. It fits great. The only problem with them is they do not keep my feet as warm as I would like them to. Overall, it is a good shoe.

Give yourself a loooooong break-in time for these boots. The back of the boot is inflexible and hits my leg at a very sensitive point. I have been trying to break them in for a couple of weeks by wearing them in the house and around the yard. Today was my first walk of any distance. I usually walk 3-4 miles a day but could only manage 1+ today while wearing the boots. I am hoping they will break in and become a fine winter boot. Meanwhile, I will keep trying. My feet did stay warm - a good thing.
