As some of the other reviews state, these boots take a couple weeks to break in. When you get them, you'll be "Awwww, pretty boot!", but when you put them on, they'll be snug over the top of your foot and you'll be all "Pretty boot hurt foot. Bad boot. Bad." (Do that in a Hulk voice for effect.) But relax. Wear them for a few days and that snugness will ease off. It won't be long before your Hulk voice goes away and you're back to "Awwww, pretty boot!" The next thing you'll notice is that there is little to no arch support. Read the other reviews, and you'll see people comment about this. Don't be like me, trust them. Take their advice and buy different inserts for your pretty boots. Sadly, that's where my experience ends with these boots. I've only had them for a couple weeks and the sole of the right boot is starting to separate from the rest of the boot. Here's the rub: I've only been walking around in these. No hard work or trudging through chemicals or toxic waste (Hmmm, maybe I should've done that to turn into the Hulk?). You know, just regular walking. Now you might think, maybe the boots are rebelling because they're not being used for "work," but I am wearing them at work (even if that involves standing at my desk writing about stuff and hacking code), and there's no good reason why a boot made by a reputable brand would do this to me, right? It's not me, it's them. They just don't love me, and thanks to Zappos return policy, I'm able to send this shifty pair of tight-at-first-but-Awwww-pretty boots back for a different pair. And no, I'm not getting another pair of these in the hopes that the next pair of pretty boots will treat me better. Will want put under pillow at night for snuggles and cream cheese. So stay tuned, people. The new boots arrive tomorrow while the once pretty boots have been put in a corner to think about what they've done.

I needed these for a work trip, where steel toes were mandatory. As I'm unlikely to need them again for a long long time, I decided to go for something that would also work well with a Chicago winter, and I just liked the look of these. So I was even happier when I tried them and they were actually really comfy. You don't notice the heavy toe at all and there is padding around the ankle which helps keep you warm as well as avoiding chafing. A good purchase, even if I don't plan on visiting any more mines!

Have lasted 3 years of year round weather in Western Colorado.

I originally bought the regular width, which was too narrow particularly at the steel toe. No hassel exchange for the wide width, which fit perfectly.

These boots are built very well they are well worth the money. My husband had these on riding a motorcycle to work he was in an accident his feet got run over by a 18 wheeler and believe it or not his feet only got bruised very badly nothing broken. The steel toes saved his feet. I would highly recommend these boots, they are great. Thank you Zappos!

Fit perfect. I wear a size 9.5/10 sneaker. Ordered size 9. Easy to take on/off. No slippage whatsoever. In the pictures they looked like a reddish light brown but they are actually dark brown which doesn’t bother me though I was excited for the ones in the pictures. They still look sick and I’m excited to have them as my first pair of docs.

I love these boots, I haven't taken them off since I got 'em. They came to my office about 24 hours after I placed my order.

After little more than a month of moderate use (I am an electrical supervisor and spend half my time sitting at a desk) the sole is separating from the bottom of the boot. Returning these, will likely go back to my Keen boots.

My first pair of shoes from Doc Martin’s! I absolutely love my Doc Martin’s!!! I was so unsure of the sizing as I do have shoes from the UK and some are true to six and others are too small... these I just got a size larger (also it’s for work and has a steel toe) so instead of a US 13 I got a US14... and perfect!!! Sad though that my second day of wearing them we had a blizzard and they got all wet but hopefully the rough weather will make them really worn in and rugged looking!

These are truly great boots for the price! They are pretty comfortable right out of the box, although they were a little snug at first around the tops of my feet. Take about 2 weeks to break in, and I added a store bought insole for added arch support. Love the color (gaucho volcano) and style of these boots. Very waterproof and warm considering they are not insulated. Highly recommend!

I bought these boots for my husband 3 years ago and he wore them every day until they needed to be replaced. He liked them so much that he purchased the exact same pair to replace the worn ones. I may need to buy a spare pair just in case they discontinue them.

Really nice boots. I got the Greenland style/color. Really didn't look as pictured, but after wearing a bit, they got a more "distressed" look to them. Very comfortable right out of the box, and on;y needed a day or two to be truly commutable. Fits like it should. I usually like the English made Doc's a whole lot better, but these imported ones aren't that bad at all. Great boot.

Dam Zappos !!! I ordered on Saturday morning and got em on Monday. Great service!! They need some breaking in but feel great out of the box. Felt true to size and width. My job as a metal fabricator\ welder is brutal on boots. I will give an update on a couple months on how they hold up. Thanks guys!!!

The absolute best steel toe boots I've ever purchased. 14 wide is hard to find that actually fit. I bought Red Wings and Timberlands both were very uncomfortable. Docs have been awesome! Have worn them for 2 months.

Zappos is awesome! I've never had better service! I ordered my boots on Tuesday evening and had them on Saturday! I was told to order a size smaller, from other happy customers and they were right! I normally take a size 11 and ordered a 10 instead. Perfect fit, I knew I was going to get a great pair of boots, but the excellent service took me by surprise. I ordered another pair of Doc's - same great service, excellent product! Zappos has my business for life!

I've tried other Dr. Marten boots in the past and like the others these are made to last. Love the wide toe area and they break in fairly quickly. The boots are heavy, but are very well made.

This is the third pair I have bought. They are a bit stiff at first, but stretch a lot once you have broken them in. That being said it is best to by a size that is snug and not loose. Good over-all work boot.

These are good, solid boots and maybe a little too solid. I had trouble breaking them in and had to have them stretched. They do seem on the small side, go 1/2 or full size larger than normal. The will get tight as your feet swell during the day, and won't have a lot of give. A good pair of boot insoles will help, too and no boot has enough cushioning!

These boots are true performers! I purchased a pair December 2009, I wore them to work everyday until February 12, 2011, and trust me I am not easy on my work boots. They quickly broke in and stayed comfortable through the entire time I wore them. The only reason I am getting a new pair is because I cut a hole in the leather upper and now my sock gets wet, otherwise I would still be wearing them!

I love these boots! Mostly use for riding my motorcycle. The padded ankle gives a bit more stability and comfort in that area. As with most wellingtons they can be tough to pull on, but that gives them a nice fit.

These boots are great! I purchased these boots for my husband (these look hot on him unlike his other work boots he wears). He is constantly working around heavy equipment. I wanted him to have a steel toe boot for protection, but something that looks good at the same time. I am so glad I chose these! The brown is a very nice color and he keeps raving how comfortable they are and loves the look. I am very happy with the purchase! And as if the boot isn't wonderful enough, Zappos is simply amazing! They must have some kind of teletransportation device, I swear. I ordered them at lunchtime on Monday and tripped over the box leaving my house Tuesday afternoon. I bet it was under 24 hours. And it's free shipping! It blows my mind! As always, great service and will never order shoes online unless it's from Zappos!
