Well-made shoe. I was disappointed in the comfort of the shoes, did not find them all that great in comfort and looks.

Bought this shoe for my husband. At first it felt very comfortable, but after wearing it a few times it was not as comfortable as he thought. He had to buy some insoles to put into the shoes. Now they seem to be alright. He wears them to work and walks around the business area where his office is located. So it is some walking but not an over abundance. I have to say that for the brand and price I would have expected them to be completely comfortable. So we were a little disappointed.

Nicely made, but too wide - The construction of this shoe is simply outstanding. However, it is way too wide - feels like you're wearing a football (American) around your feet. The narrow version of the shoe has a better fit, but my big toe butts up against the tip of shoe, so I have to go one half size bigger. Overall, just doesn't fit right. The airflow insole is an example of over-design - it makes the shoe feel slippery. It's too thick in the toe area, so it leads to ugly wrinkles. The style makes it neither a dress shoe nor a casual shoe. Bottom line, a lot of money for what's definitely a high quality shoe, but very uncomfortable to wear. Looks better than it feels.

Mephisto always run about half size large with nice fitting last. This is my 5th pair of Marlon in 10 years and just retiring the first pair after 2nd resoling wore thin. Fabulous shoes for those 20k step days.

One of the best dress shoes I have ever owned and worn, cushioned insole without the need of buying one, I’m extremely impressed with how good these will look on you and high Quality material being used.

Age 61, weight 200, fit. Walk quite a bit. This Marlon model is the world's least expensive excellent shoe, even though it sells at $400. The ratio of cost to comfortable duration is a superb value. The leather lining and the real rubber sole are key attributes. I prefer a 12.5 and this 12.0 wears like one. I am a 3rd time buyer of Mephisto Marlon in black. I have a high arch and very normal feet, no problems in my life, ever. The Marlon is the most comfortable business shoe I know. I've also bought the cordovan color (calf leather) in Europe and it was a steal at 200 Euros. Prior years I had a number of Allen Edmonds and a couple of Aldens. Ref photo 1 below, pairs from left to right are 15 years, 8 years and new. In photo 2, compare new with 15 years.

I own a few pairs of Mephisto shoes, boots, etc. With that being said I'm always amazed how beautifully made and comfortable Mephistos are. The Marion is no exception––except these out of the box are the most comfortable shoes to date. The price tag on these is up there, however the quality and fit you get is so worth it. Plus with the exceptional quality of these shoes, they last so long, they vertically pay for themselves. Highly recommended.

These are excellent shoes, they are supportive and have good style. Can be worn with dressy clothes or more casual, and you can walk all day in them. They will last for many years. I have them in brown and black. In this model, try a half size down.

Size: I used Mephisto's measurements to determine my size. It suggested a size 8.5. After trying them on, I feel one half size smaller is a better fit. Style: I preferred the plain toe vs the cap toe. Very clean design. Comfort: The most comfortable shoes I have. I intend to purchase additional Mephisto shoes based on this experience. Zappos: Five star service and support. I highly recommend Zappos for your needs.

Exceptionally well-made shoes that are still comfortable to wear. Clips the back of my ankle just a bit, but I think this is due to me being a little in between sizes rather than a fault with the shoe. I stretched it out a little and all is well.

expensive but by far and away, the best brand shoes i've ever owned. i've had three pair of these and they are fantastic.

I purchased my first pair of Marlon's in 1991 and wore them for more than 20 years (resoled and reconditioned every few years) and eventually converted them into work shoes where I did a home remodel. Once covered in sparkling, paint and dirt it was with great reluctance that I parted with these shoes. The fit for my long foot with a narrow heal and slight pronation is just excellent. I have two other pairs of Marlon's, one in black and one in Chestnut Brown. I could not rate these fine shoes higher. You get exactly what you pay for here and for the premium price its still a bargain for the quality of shoe received.

This is a replacement for beloved Marlons that have been rehabbed 2 times - and now it was time for new. These are the only shoes my husband will wear - he spends a lot of time on his feet, in a professional (medical/academic/business) environment and these are dressy enough, stylish and provide comfort and support. He has a bad back, and these shoes provide everything to allow him to "roam free." They are expensive, but worth every penny. For some reason, this pair felt a bit larger than the old, but not enough to merit a return. Thank you Zappos for excellent service and keeping this family "well shod."

I own the Brown Marlon Mephisto, which seems to go with everything I own from suites, to jeans, to khakis, to shorts. They are cut half a size larger than my true size but I manage with extra padding inside my shoe. It is a classic look that will stand the test of time. Though I will have to take out an insurance policy on the very high price tag. It is worth it once you figure out how long they will last you and that the sole can be replaced when worn down. Overall, this is one of my favorite shoes ever.

Absolutely great shoes. Wore twice around the house for a couple of hours, then off to a full day at work. Shoes felt broken in when I put them on. Top quality.

These are the most comfortable shoes that I have owned. I have tried many brands and been a fan of some, but this is a step up in comfort that I did not expect.

By far the best Oxford style shoe I have ever owned. I have worm it more or less daily for the last 8 years and finally they need to be replaced. They may be expensive but the are more comfortable and will outlast any other shoe you can possibly find.

Excellent shoe. Comfortable without looking too casual with a suit. Zappos is without peer for shopping, there is just not other site as convenient or efficient

Fantastic shoes. I have been looking for years for a simple, classic shoe that is comfortable and can be worn for long periods of time. This shoe is very comfortable and required little to no break in time. It was delivered quickly and as promised. Thank you, Zappos!

I purchased my Marlons in either '92 or '93 and have worn them since (with several complete refurbishments through an authorized Mephisto cobbler), and I have to say that they are the best shoes that I have ever worn. They are excellent for city hiking! Walking to museums, gardens, zoos, restaurants and night spots. I have worn the pebble finish smooth. I am looking forward to finally breaking down and getting a new set... soon.

Seems to be a great shoe but had to return it because it was way too wide. Kind of irritating not to have width choices at this price point.
