Do not buy these until they change back to their old ways. I will never buy Dr. Martins again. Been wearing this brand for 20 years and they have sunk to a new low. These are cheap junk leather boots, they could have gotten a better boot at Wal-Mart for a cheaper price. They look and feel like plastic. These are cheap, do not buy, like I said I have been wearing Docs forever and they are nothing like they used to be. I am very disappointed, go to Wal-Mart if you want cheap leather boots! These are not what they used to be.

UPDATE to my review of June 22, 2018 (filed as "Zappos Reviewer").
It is hard to express how furious I am. The quality of Docs continues to descend into nothingness. This pair, which I received on April 24, have failed. This after under three months of wear-and-tear at a desk job and minimal wear at home.
The first two pics are from today (7/18/18) of this pair demonstrating what has happened after less than three months. The other two pics (9/30/17) are of my last pair, which had the same failure as the pair before them.
With my previous pair, they generously offered me the opportunity to ship them to corporate for an examination at my own expense. If they found a manufacturing problem, they would replace and reimburse. Otherwise, I could have them back (a few weeks later) at my own expense for shipping.
A more expensive product. A warranty that comes at cost to the consumer. What happened?
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me thrice, lost a customer for life.
Doctor Martens. Once a great, high-quality boot. Now more overpriced crap.
After more than 25 years of loyalty, it looks like I'm punching out on Docs and looking for something new. Any recommendations?

These boots are of poor quality! Dr. Martens used to be made of finest quality material. No longer.

These are fantastic boots. I've worn Doc Martens for more than 15 years now, and each time I get close to wearing out one pair, I immediately start shopping for my next. Here are a couple points to consider before buying these boots: 1) They run a bit large. I wear a US size 10 for everything (running shoes, basketball shoes, dress shoes, and so on), but I had to go with a UK 8 (US size 9) for these boots because the UK 9s were way too big. 2) These boots need be broken in a bit before they start fitting comfortably. If you are a first-timer to wearing Doc Martens boots, don't give up on them just because they don't feel good at the beginning. I would suggest just wearing them around the house for a couple hours at a time for the first week or so, and after that they should feel great.

When I was a teenager, back in the early 90's, I scrimped and saved my pennies for months and months so that I could buy my very own pair of Docs. I wore them the last two years of high school, all through college, every single day for many years of work in restaurants and kitchens. They finally gave up the ghost about three years ago, after lasting through a good many years of very hard use. I was sad to think that I would never own another pair. I have bad feet, though (see years of working in kitchens) and no pair of boots that I have owned has come close in comfort to my good old Docs. Finally, sick of wearing nothing but sneakers or suffering agony all day, I sucked it up, encouraged by favorable reviews, and bought a pair of Docs again. I ordered the Aztec, since that was the only pair in my size that Zappos had available, and since I do not feel quite punk rock enough anymore to pull off a cherry pair. The leather feels good and sturdy and has a nice distressed look, so that I was able to wear them without them screaming "We are new shoes!" The pictures really do not do them justice. I carefully inspected all the seams and stitching and was pleasantly surprised to see that it looks as good and heavy duty as ever. They were comfortable out of the box, without the agony I remembered from breaking in that first pair long ago. In fact, I put them on and went straight on a road trip, where they remained comfortable and wonderful while I ran around like a maniac setting up an art event. I credit their comfort, and my lack of aching feet, for the continued survival of a particularly rude parking warden. I will have to wait and see how long they last, but right now I am surprised how pleased I am with them. As comfortable as they are out of the box, I hope they get even better as they break in the way Docs do. And as always, Zappos is wonderful and their shipping is amazingly fast. I got these boots within two days of placing my order even though they were going to a PO box and the Zappos representative warned me that it might take a week.

I used to love DM's (over 15 years of loyalty), but this last pair has been such a disappointment. After trying to break them in for two months, they still cut in on my heel, and the finish is already coming off of the shoe. Sadly, I cannot return them, and the manufacturer will not take responsibility for their poor quality merchandise. Let my waste of money serve as a warning to others, if it isn't a good fit after an hour of wearing them in house, return them. I will not be buying DMs again, unless they change back to the way they used to make them!

Okay, I'm 8.5 and 5'7" and after reading that "63% Felt true to size", I decided to ignore the people that said it runs way too big so I bought an 8uk which is supposed to be 8.5/9 according to DM page...but they really run big, like a half or an entire size. These shoes are huge. Trust me, they won't look small if you get one size down...the design - it's amazing. I have nothing to complain about that so if you are a half size like me you should get one size down unless you are tall...or a clown.

Took a few months just to break them in and within less than a year, everywhere the leather bent to conform to the shape of my foot has rips and tears in it. The soles are durable, the leather... Not so much. These boots are good for CITY SLICKERS. If you live a rural lifestyle, doc martens are NOT for you.

I have had Doc Martens through the years and they have always been made of the finest quality leather that is supple and has a beautiful grain to it. The leather in these shoes is so phony looking that they could be pleather. They are not supple at all, no grain to it and just looks like a pair of shoes bought at Target. What happened, Doc Martens? The shoes I bought were made in Vietnam. I feel like Doc Martens has ended their era of excellence and has downgraded their excellent quality products to the garbage that I just bought. The only good thing about this purchase is Zappos and the excellent customer service that I received.

I've been wearing Doc's for a very long time.Greasy 8 holes, monkey boots, creepers,(they were my go to night shoe in the late 80s.)I'm not a loafer or Rockport chukka kinda guy.Dr. Martens are a staple of my wardrobe. The sizing is the same as it has been forever.I'm a size 9 or 9.5 foot.A size 9 USA does the trick every time.I always put a footbed in them due to the lack of arch support. The quality isn't as great as it was 20 years ago,but what is.If you have owned Doc's in the past and liked them then buy them.If you have never had a pair and are thinking about it, well you probably shouldn't buy them. You just won't get it.As always Zappos was timely with the delivery and i would not shop for footwear anywhere else.Like Dr. Martens, Zappos is where it's at.

Dr. Marten 1460 series boot cherry red.
I shopped online very thoroughly for a well made workboot with a gum sole that would leave no marks on any surface. I need a boot with a sole such as that, as I work at a marina and work on a lot of boats. Almost every boat is all white and I needed a gum sole boot that would not mark and blacken the gelcoat decks.
I searching for a boot that was rugged, had good reputation for comfort and quality, a handsome boot, and could take abuse around the boatyard. This style and the red vintage color attracted me, and I researched the boots. I heard nothing but excellent remarks from happy customers who have owned this series boot.
I just received mine today and they feel broken in, right out of the box, and they're so attractive and elegant, yet rugged. -And VERY comfortable. I've decided NOT to use them for work, but rather in place of wearing sneakers. They're just as comfortable, and so much more dressy, but not over-dressy. I'm now going to buy another pair just like them for work. The leather, I might add, is the softest and the soles conform to my feet at every step. I would recommend them for outdoorsmen, workmen, and people who enjoy a ruggedly stylish boot for every day use. When I get my next pair, I'll use them at work as well as at the rifle range, where I need a good field boot such as these. They look real military-like when you tuck your trousers into them, too.
I'll forever purchase Dr. Marten 1460 series boots as long as they keep making them in cherry red and gum soles. I just plain love them. And Zappos delivered them to me in just 2 days. They're a very well oiled machine when it comes to customer satisfaction and reliability. I'll tell all my friends and family to go to Zappos for all their footwear needs. Great prices, great products. Just as good as I would rate the boots. Thanks Zappos! Ilove my new boots! I'll be back for more.

Love this shoe! LeAther takes awhile to break in, but what a stunning classic! Too bad they’re made in Asia now and not in UK like they were the first time I fell for them. But, quality seems up to standard. A timeless shoe for comfort- I stand and/or walk around all day in these and they feel as good in my mid 40’s as they did in my mid teens.

Awesome. Just awesome. I have flat feet and walk all day at work. These are by far the best shoes I've owned. They are so iconic. I always wear a 9.5 and purchased the UK8. They fit perfectly.

Well worth the price. I love Docs...I wear a half size so I buy them a size bigger and then put inserts in. They are the most comfortable work boot you will find.

I bought these recently and I have been doing some reading online on a lot of reviews on what size to get and mostly everyone says get a size down or something but for me I got my actual size and they fit fine, althought it would of been better if Dr Martens made half sizes but they do not, so I just got a size 8 in womens and they fit just fine. I tried on the size 7 in womens and they were just too tight for me, so I definitely recommend getting your actual size. But I also recommend going to a store and trying them on so you know what size to get for sure. They are great shoes that are very comfortable. They are easy to wear with jeans and what not! This is my first pair of boots and I love them!

Good boots overall. They are darker than the online picture, but still look good. The leather is much softer than other Docs I have, so they didn't take as long to break in. I've noticed Docs nowadays fit a bit larger. I wear 10.5 but I have 3 pairs of Docs in 10 that fit fine.

MY OPINION ON DOCS -
I've had my Docs since last year. They're really great! I like them very much cause I can wear them with everything. The only problem is that there is not air coming inside the boots from the outside. When I go to school, I wear shoes for about 10 hour per day, and after having worn my Docs for so many hours my feet are really "boiled" and since about four months ago my boots have begun to stink (even if I sometimes wear trainers and I wash my feet and change my socks quite regularly). And it got worse the few times I wore them in summer. However, the stink is bearable. Apart from that, I'm satisfacted with my choice and I'd BUY THEM AGAIN !

The boots are a little stiff, across the top of the foot, so they dig in causing some discomfort. I’m sure it’ll stretch with time. The rest of the boot is true to size as far as length goes. Normally an 8.5 and the length in 8 are perfect.

Wear a size 11, ordered a size 10...very tight fit. Should have gone with the 11 (US). Also, shoe looked cheap...leather felt like plastic...not the quality of Doc's I'm used to back in the day.

hasn't broken in yet -
I've had these shoes for a month or so now and have worn them 3-4 times (for about 8hrs each time). They still haven't broken in so I'm reluctant to wear them. It's kind of annoying because the sole is very comfortable and stable, but the upper parts cut into my leg. One day last week I made the mistake of wearing these with ankle high socks (mistake!), and everyplace that rubbed the shoe (the back of my heel, the side of my shin) was rubbed raw, I am still wearing bandaids from that incident. However, because the soles are so good I'll probably keep them and wear them in the winter as winter boots, but I'll be sure to wear thick socks with them!

No half sizes!
My shoe size is 10 1/2 so I puchased a size 11. I have to wear two pairs of socks and they still don't really fit! Plus, they make my feet sweat all day long. Although they feel okay for awhile, after a couple hours standing, my feet start to ache. If you normally take half sizes I'd pass on Doc's!

Hands off the made in China boots. I am on my second China pair, symptoms are the same: Leather is of poor quality, soles crack, stitching around the bottom of the shoe fails on the sides. Inside the sole wear out quicker. The only thing that remains are tho looks. If you want a durable boot, look elsewhere!
