Good looking, but not worth the discomfort -
This is a good looking loafer and well built, but very uncomfortable for me even after several days of break-in time. I purchased 2 pair (black & brown) mainly because they were available in hard to find EEE. However even the EEE is very snug. Overall I am disappointed.

The shoes seemed to be a much tighter cut than the same shoe I bought a few years ago: 10 1/2 EEE, with the same numbers inside the shoe: 17058-05. I could not even get my foot in the shoe, with a shoe horn. I was afraid of tearing the shoe. I might have gained a few pounds in the last few years, but it didn't all go to my feet.

I have worn this style of shoes for many years and have owned dozens of these loafers. Recently the quality of the shoes has declined. The stitching holding the sole to the top of the shoes breaks within weeks. Also, the shoes are not consistently sized between right and left shoe. Very sloppy workmanship.

Nice while new, and good fit. However eventually the burgundy finish wears off on the shoe to reveal cardboard-like under, proving it's poor construction. I enjoyed them while I had them but won't buy again since they didn't last long.

I have a disgustingly narrow foot! And if you do, you know how hard it is these days to find shoes in a shoe store that fit; it seems that everything is EEE or EEEE! I grew up at a time when everybody wore "penny loafers" and I love them! Almost never wear anything else. Florsheim Berkley is the best "penny loafer" I have ever found, and Zappos has them! This is the second pair of Berkleys I have ordered from Zappos. Five Stars for product, quality, price, service, shipping. All my shoes in the future will come from Zappos.

Poor Stitching -
I was disspointed in the quality of the stitching on the shoes that I received.
I have owned lots of "penny loafers", but none that were gathered at the front of the shoe to the degree that their appearance was affected. This pair had that poor stitching.
This may have been a fluke, so I am returning the shoes for exchange.

Hard to get into -
This shoe does not have a smooth surface inside it. It is very difficult to slip on comfortably if your socks are not smooth also. Using a shoe horn is of little help, the sock tends to bunch up on the toe, and cramps the toes. If you can successfully get the shoe on without the sock cramping up the toes, it is not uncomfortable to wear.

This shoes are a complete waste of money ! The sole separated from the shoe after hardly any use. Do not buy!!

I wear a 12 D. Generally Florsheims work well for me. This pair, however, is really tight and uncomfortable -- no, actually they hurt, so will be returned when I get around to it. They look good, though. Probably will order a larger size.

Not a good shoe. The seams already busted and I got them wide, but in 3E they were not. Very disappointed being a large footed person, but I will probably not ever buy again because of the fitting issue. I also bought a black pair that is too tight as well, but we were in the process of moving so I couldn't return.

Love the fit but the shoe has started to separate from the sole.

Take your money elsewhere. These have the right look, especially in Burgundy, but they are the most cheaply constructed shoes I've ever owned. The leather is cardboard like, coated in shiny plastic. You don't so much polish them as wipe polish onto a non-absorbent man made surface. The heel fell off two weeks after I got them. After less than a few months of wearing them twice/week, they have started to tear right at the beef roll. For inexpensive 'weejuns', look at Sebago Classics, J&M Skimocs, or Bass instead. Zappos service, in contrast to the disappointment of this shoe, was fantastic as always.

'Have bought Florsheim's loafers for years, but can't find the ones I bought most recently, bought the Berkley and hate them. The unlined inside is rough and pulls socks to the point of pain. Stiff, unyielding leather means I may never get these broken in. Great looking, but horrible shoes. Bought the Riva and LOVE them! Lined, soft and comfortable from the get-go. Zappos service is top notch, they have a customer for life, I suspect.

The shoes are the classic loafers with the leather soles. They are beautiful. My husband loves them.

I checked them from toe to heel and they're perfect, with an excellent finish. In fact, I bought two pairs. I recommend them.

Beautiful classic loafer with leather soles. We bought the black and burgundy pair. We could not be happier. I highly recommend if you are looking for the classic loafer with no tassel. The style is very sophisticated.

The shoes are leather and the soles are high quality. They are comfortable too. The company, Florsheim is also outstanding. I purchased the wrong size and they assisted me in replacing them. A winning combination..high quality shoes and a great customer service support group.Thank you.Stan

These are very nice, very shiny, 9 1/2 Medium shoes. I normally wear 10 Medium or 9 1/2 Medium and those reviewed are the 9 1/2 Medium. I tried the 10 M, which were too long for me and ordered 9 1/2 M which fit much better, snug, and comfortable. My only comments are 1) these shoes are very stiff, especially the sole and needs a little break-in time to provide comfortable flex. 2) Also, the leather sole is very slick out of the box. A little wear will ruff up the bottoms enough to provide a good grip on the floor. Until then be careful. I am completely satisfied with this purchase.

To be honest, I haven't worn them yet. Only tried them on. They look too good to wear and scuff up.

Initially purchased 10.5W; returned for 11W. This is the traditional penny loafer (as opposed to the redesigned "Flex" model).
