I recently discovered these boots still exist and had to have a pair. The sizes do run quite different as I am usually a 13 B and this shoe fits great in a 12 D. I like adding a thin insole also. If someone is not accustomed to wearing a high top they will seem stiff around the ankle in the beginning but will soften and become very comfortable. I wear 6 inch boots most of the time. I like the support and comfort so now I can have the same thing for more dressy casual or with a coat and tie. The squeak when new will subside quickly and go away completely with a few wearings. I beleve these are an original unchanged piece of history, especially the high top style. The high shine, cap toe, and high top make them a great topic of conversation. I suspect the laces will wear out quickly from the lace hooks but the comfort and support are worth buying a few laces.

I challenge you to find a better shoe I have 3 pairs of these wonderful boots (black,brown,gray) and let me tell you keep them polished and with an occasional new heel they will last a lifetime. I particularly like the boots because we get lots of snow during winter. Trust me they look and feel great. (Cute how they sorta curl upwards when you break them in).Truly a great investment!

A good-looking boot and quite comfortable about of the box. But the leather, as others have noted, is very squeaky. More damaging, in my opinion, is that the leather is so shiny and stiff-looking that it looks more like plastic than leather. The result is an overall cheap, costume-y look.

I never write reviews. I also don't remember ever regretting buying a pair of shoes...until now. Perhaps Stacy Adams made good shoes years ago, but not anymore. To get this kind of quality elsewhere, you'd have to spend a lot less (and that would be at full retail). Pros: Style, they look very nice in the online picture. Cons: Squeakiness? The least of your worries. As others have mentioned, a little lotion (I used Pecard) and the squeaks go away. While they look great online, they look marginally good in the box and have a strange, shiny, plastic-like appearance. As soon as you hold one in your hand you realize that they are made of the thinnest, cheapest quality leather imaginable. If you so much as try them on, the vamp instantly develops deep creases that will never go away. But, I told myself, they're the style I'm looking for and they've gotten such good reviews. By day 2, small chunks of leather attaching the heel to the sole cracked and fell out, and the crack began to spread. Now, less than one month later (and only wearing them 2-3 times/week), both heels are starting to separate from the sole, and the upper is beginning to separate from the welt on the left boot. The groaning and creaking I now hear is not due to rubbing - it's the boots falling apart. I expect to get no more than another two months out of them before they go in the trash. I am astonished by the fact that so many people are happy with these boots. They are not quality shoes...period. I've had a pair of Aldens for several years and they keep getting better with age. To replace the Madisons, I purchased a pair of Allen Edmonds Fifth Street boots (from Zappos, of course) and am very happy. They cost a little more, but are of infinitely better quality, both in materials and workmanship. They will last for years and can be sent back to the factory for reconditioning and new soles once they need them, extending their life span even longer. Shoes like Alden or Allen Edmonds (both made in the US) are a good investment. Stacy Adams (made in India) are a complete waste of money and I truly regret buying them. Please, do yourself a favor and look at something else. If this is the style you're looking for, check out the aforementioned Fifth Street boots. The price may sting a little at first, but you'll be getting a high quality pair of boots you won't later regret buying. Whatever you do, stay away from these boots. Others have said the same, I should have listened.

The shoe was perfect. I had a hard time finding it anywhere else and when I did the cost was outrageous. My son needed it for a musical and it was just what he needed. I was extremely pleased with the quality of the shoe.

A wonderful shoe! I ordered these a size wider judging from the on-line reviews. The shoes arrived the next day and I have hardly had them off! They truly fit well, and the leather is so soft--they feel broken in from day one, and I never say this about a shoe until now. They give excellent ankle and arch support while feeling good walking around for a long period. I plan to buy another pair in another color!

Great boot - I have bought this boot for many men, they all like wearing it. I like that it comes in widths, so they can all have a shoe that really fits them. Its timeless quality makes it great for costumes.

Happy shoemaker!!! I have two pair of Madison boots and my oldest ones needed new soles and heels. I took them to the local shoemaker and his first comment was "Comforts, where did you get them?" I was happy to tell him about Zappos and gave him the web site so he could order a pair. He then told me how he always wore them and then couldn't find them in the stores any more. I didn't know I was wearing boots that are so famous.

Boot Review - If you look for that vintage look, this is the ONE out there. Excellent make and durable, yet the high tight shaft needs getting used to, but gives great support. One suggestion... the contrast sole rim should be dyed to match, I had to.
